They did not show up, no contact was made. After over an hour in the rain I was told one of the hosts passed away months ago. They never answered the phone and it was really disappointing.
Worth it, absolutely worth it. This will give you a FULL and REAL Ghanaian experience. You will help cook two dishes that you select off of a menu and get to taste real home style local cooking. All three sisters help you during the cooking process and are nothing but hospitable and kind. It was fun to see a different side of life that, as an American, I am completely unfamiliar with. Go because you want to be fully immersed into normal Ghanaian culture and cuisine. You will feel at home. P.S. beer is only GHS 20 for a large bottle!!! Request it with the meal (you will need to pay cash).
This was an authentic, local experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was local. If you are looking for a western cooking class, this is not for you! If you want to experience how locals cook…this is for you. Come willing tonlearn and appreciate thw taste of great, local food! Your palate will know the difference after this class. It is unforgettable. Take the class, be educated and enjoy some delicious, authentic and local food. Ghana has great food!
This was a great experience. Irene and her family were wonderful. It was a great way to see how a family in Ghana lives and get a better idea of how the extended family works.
If you can get a driver to pick you up and take you there it would be better and less eventful. The uber driver I used could not find the venu. He was very helpful, he stayed with me until someone agreed to help me. I ended up getting help from a nice older woman and her granddaughters. They were very nice they took me to a location to meet my host and stayed with me until she arrived. The host arrived and the girls left, warm handoff! Irene, the host was very apologetic. We went on to make a great lunch. She involved me, hands on! I have muscles from stiring the banku. The meal turned out well and I enjoyed it with her. Her husband and son were there, the son took pictures and sent them to me. The husband engage with me. The atmosphere was truly warm and positive. This is a great family venu!
We had a fantastic session with aunties Linda and Doreen—they were so sweet and taught us every step carefully such that it would be easy to remember when we go back home to try on our own. It came out very delicious and was a very authentic experience where we got to use multiple types of mortar and pestles! Making fufu was tough but fun! The aunties also taught us many words and phrases in their language (Ga) which added to the personalness of the lesson. One note—the description needs to be updated. There was no marketplace activity and the class itself was about 2 hours. Oyiwalad)n aunties!
This was a great experience! We had an opportunity to really engage with locals in a local environment. The food we helped prepare was very good and the host was delightful. Definitely recommend!
Went with friends and it was a really enjoyable experience! We cooked with aunty Patience and ut was very interactive, hands on and fun! We learned a lot and aunty Patience was great, patient and funny! I'd deffo recommend
One of the best tours I experienced in Ghana! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Auntie Irene as she showed us how to make banku, fried fish, stew, chicken and jollof rice. My fav was the jollof rice. So good! I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it as good as Auntie but I’m glad I at least saw the process. The experience really makes you appreciate the local dishes even more.
We canceld before the Activity took place because I asked in advance If we are going to the market together Like in the description written. We were really looking Forward to it. But they Said they are Not doing this anymore, because of the colour of our skin an said Something about increasing prices and so on. So they are selling an experience they don't offer - that is not the way it should be.
