O Castelo de Cape Coast é um dos maiores castelos ainda existentes em Gana hoje, que foi construído por forças europeias. Em uma parte da Costa do Ouro que posteriormente passou a ser conhecida como Cape Coast, tudo começou como um alojamento comercial português construído em 1555. A Companhia Sueca da África construiu uma fortaleza permanente de madeira em 1653 para facilitar o comércio de ouro e madeira depois que a Suécia conquistou a Costa do Cabo. O escritório regional do Conselho de Museus e Monumentos de Gana está localizado lá, e atualmente é um museu histórico com uma loja de presentes que vende artes e ofícios de Gana.
Assim Jorge da Mina (São Jorge da Mina) foi o nome dado ao Castelo de Elmina pelos portugueses em 1482 quando o ergueram em Elmina, Gana (antiga Costa do Ouro). Elmina e Elmina Castle é a estrutura européia mais antiga ainda abaixo do Saara porque foi o primeiro posto comercial já construído no Golfo da Guiné. Foi inicialmente fundada como uma colônia comercial, mas acabou se tornando um dos locais mais significativos ao longo do caminho do comércio atlântico de escravos. Uma parte significativa do drama de 1987 de Werner Herzog, "Cobra Verde", foi filmado no Castelo de Elmina, que agora é um marco histórico conhecido. Ele serve como um lembrete da história do comércio de escravos e é um destino muito procurado por viajantes afro-americanos que desejam se conectar com sua herança.
O local de atração mais visitado de Gana, escondido na floresta tropical de Kakum, é a incrível passarela suspensa a 40m acima do nível do solo, que oferece uma perspectiva fascinante e bela da floresta e da vida selvagem.

I had an amazing experience on this tour from start to finish! Our tour guide, Wisdom, was absolutely wonderful. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and extremely attentive throughout the entire day. What stood out to me most was how genuinely helpful he was. At Kakum National Park, he made sure I was comfortable and assisted me when I needed help, which I truly appreciated. He consistently checked on us throughout the tour and made sure we were enjoying the experience. We visited Cape Coast, Elmina, and Kakum National Park, so it was a very full and long day, but Wisdom remained attentive and accommodating the entire time. He also went above and beyond to help me with currency exchange when I needed additional cedis, which was not something he had to do but was greatly appreciated. Wisdom helped make an already memorable experience in Ghana even better. If you’re considering this tour, I highly recommend it—and if you have the opportunity to have Wisdom as your guide, you’ll be in great hands! 100/10 experience!

I think this tour was one of the best ever, first off I had an amazing tour guide Patrick, he was so informative and amazing throughout the whole tour. Cape coast and Elmina castle was an incredible experience and Kakum national park was icing on the cake 👌🏾

Whole experience was amazing. Was able to book last minute the day before. It is worth every penny and more affordable than me booking a private car plus admission fees, to take me to Cape Coast. Received pick up location the night before. The driver was friendly. The journey was around 4 hours from Accra but the car was very comfortable with aircon. Cape Coast castle was quite emotional for me. Wish I had more time as the tour was only 45mins but Elina Castle tour was slightly longer with more time to explore the castle and pay my respects to my ancestors. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. Pre-ordered lunch before arriving at Kakum National Park which was ready when we arrived. Lots of walking and step steps but that made the experience more enjoyable. The canopy walk was breathtaking, though I didn't look down.

Wow, what an impactful experience. I booked this because I wanted to go on the canopy tour, but the Cape Coast Castle will stay with me forever - reading and watching videos does not compare to being in the dungeons and walking the grounds. Additionally, I met a new friend and learned all about Singapore during the long drive, which our guide was very efficient and safe with.
