Seu guia turístico irá buscá-lo em seu hotel e levá-lo aos campos de extermínio do Centro de Genocídio Choeung Ek - a 14 quilômetros ao sul de Phnom Penh. Os infames campos de extermínio têm uma história sangrenta. Outrora um pomar e um cemitério chinês, o Khmer Rogue, liderado por Pol Pot, transformou o local no que ficou conhecido como campos de extermínio, onde executaram cerca de 20.000 vítimas. Ao longo de três anos, massacraram e enterraram 2,5 milhões de pessoas. Depois de relembrar os mortos, retorne a Phnom Penh para visitar o Museu do Genocídio Tuol Sleng (S21). Significando colina das árvores venenosas, Pol Pot transformou uma escola secundária outrora popular em uma prisão de segurança máxima. 20 mil pessoas foram presas lá, muitas das quais foram torturadas para obter informações. Hoje serve como museu e uma lembrança de dias mais sombrios. Seu guia o levará de volta ao seu hotel ou pousada.
O mais notório dos 189 centros de interrogatório conhecidos no Camboja era o S-21, instalado em uma antiga escola e agora chamado Tuol Sleng por causa da colina em que fica. Entre 14.000 e 17.000 prisioneiros foram detidos e torturados ali, muitas vezes em celas primitivas de tijolos construídas em antigas salas de aula.

Great tour and history, showed every part of cambodias history and even met with last survivor that was in the camp

Our guide , Ran ,was extremely knowledgeable. He has a very personal and first hand connection to this terrible time in Cambodia's history , I won't spoil it by saying anything. Ran also spoke great English. While a harrowing experience , its one that is necessary to know. A great value half day tour. Recommended.

Highly recommend requesting Ran as your tour guide! He lived the Khmer Rouge as a little boy and could tell us what things were like firsthand in Cambodia during the dark time. He was so knowledgeable and we are glad we hired him for the tour vs doing the museums on our own so that we could learn more. The driver, Huot, also picked up/ dropped off right at the door of our hotel and offered cold waters during the drive.
