This is a great tour for getting out of Monterrey city and seeing the beautiful mountains around the region. Jonathan was our guide. He contacted me via WhatsApp the day before giving pick up instructions and advising on attire. He was on time the next day, and the whole experience was very easy and smooth. The drive to the cable car is a bit over an hour. Jonathan had a good patter about the areas that we passed as well as typical Monterrey foods and recommended restaurants. It was easy and fun to talk with him (he speaks excellent English, and his tourist Spanish is great too, if you need the practice!). We had a short wait between our arrival and our turn to take the cable car. There are clean bathrooms and a few shops. Jonathan bought us a drink that was like Mexican Gatorade (salted pineapple juice with some Sprite and chunks of pineapple topped with Tajin). Delicious! The cable car ride is short, maybe five minutes. The car will be packed, but there are windows at the top of the car, so it doesn't get too stuffy. The tour of the cave was very good. There were enough breaks that it was not very strenuous. I will say that I was glad that my kids don't ask me to carry them any longer as some of the steps are uneven, and I imagine it'd be difficult to carry a squirmy toddler down them. Jonathan took pictures of us the whole time and sent them all to me at the end of the day so I didn't have to take them (and so that I'd appear in them!). It made everything so easy. After our cave visit, we went to the small town of Garcia for some more pictures and walking and also some ice cream. Then it was time to return to Monterrey/San Pedro Garza. Would happily recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get out of the city and see some cool caves.
Ruth was awesome. Her son was the translator and both were so kind. They shared so much about Monterrey and about themselves and we really enjoyed their authenticity.
What an amazing tour! Scenery was out of this world, the caves are huge and wonderful rock formations.
