A arquitetura e o layout das sucessivas capitais testemunham um alto nível de ordem social e classificação dentro do Império Khmer. Angkor é, portanto, um local importante que exemplifica valores culturais, religiosos e simbólicos, além de conter um elevado significado arquitetónico, arqueológico e artístico.
Angkor Thom, literalmente: “Grande Cidade”, contém vários templos e locais antigos imperdíveis, incluindo o Templo Bayon, o Terraço dos Elefantes, o Terraço do Rei Leproso, o Templo Baphoun e muitos mais. É uma visita obrigatória numa viagem a Siem Reap e aos seus antigos templos.
A característica mais distintiva do Bayon é a multidão de rostos de pedra serenos e sorridentes do Buda - provavelmente modelados no rosto do rei Jayavarman VII - em todos os lados as muitas torres que se projetam do terraço superior e se aglomeram em torno de seu pico central.
Baphuon de Udayadityavarman II (reinou de 1050 a 1066); e o templo budista de Bayon, que foi o templo central construído por Jayavarman VII quando ele deu à cidade, que mais tarde ficou conhecida como Angkor Thom, ou “Grande Cidade”, sua forma mais ou menos definitiva.
O templo Ta Nei é um templo muito pequeno e raramente visitado. A falta de outros visitantes é uma das muitas razões pelas quais você deve visitar este incrível templo.
Construído em 1186 e originalmente conhecido como Rajavihara (Mosteiro do Rei), Ta Prohm era um templo budista dedicado à mãe de Jayavarman VII. É um dos poucos templos na região de Angkor onde uma inscrição fornece informações sobre os dependentes e habitantes do templo.
Banteay Kdei, um enorme mosteiro budista da última parte do século XII, é cercado por quatro paredes concêntricas. Cada uma de suas quatro entradas é decorada com garudas, que sustentam um dos temas favoritos de Jayavarman VII: as quatro faces de Avalokiteshvara.
O templo Prasat Kravan é um templo hindu do século X dedicado a VIshnu. É um templo relativamente pequeno quando comparado a outros templos do parque.

Good trip, but could be better described that the guide was not with into the temple, so had to hire a new guide inside. Would have been cheaper to rent tuktuk from the hotel

Soppal and Titiya were great guys and took us where we wanted to go. The temples close at 6pm beware of that! But after 5:40 is free Make sure you cover knees and shoulders or you can’t go in

Well done, I've been to Ankhor Wat. Cross that off the once in a lifetime experience.... Great for those who love a really, really long walk. Altbough once you've seen a temple you have seen them all. Our driver sohpal was really great though, lovely guy, proffesional and accomodating.

Great tuktuk transportation through Angkor Wat. Sophal was very well prepared with towels and lots of water. He recommended a tour guide for $60 but I opted to do my own self paced tour with an audio guide and had an amazing time. Definitely need to book transportation between temples as it is quite a walk between them. Highly recommend this one as it was very accommodating, didn’t rush me and let me take it at my own pace which I really appreciated.
