Fabulous cycle trip with Sia - amazing info into village life - visited local farmers market, his village, school and cycled though farmland and lotus fields and tried rice wine. Great modern mountain bikes and very easy flat cycle route through the city to the countryside.
The tour itself was lovely. Additionally our tour guide was very nice and informative. We stopped at several stops along the way. (Market, temple, countryside, rice patties, lotus fields, an artisan craft village, and the palm wine stop. We did the morning tour and I would leave as early as possible to avoid the heat as there is no shade out in the countryside. My only suggestion which is why I didn’t give 5 stars as it’s a big one is to bring a thick sweatshirt or a padded seat cover or something as there is zero padding on the bike seats- it is hard plastic and the countryside roads are rough and rocky so if you don’t ride often you’ll be sore for three days lol. The bikes themselves are very nice and fine but the seat is the worst I’ve ever ridden on for a bike tour. You will also ride through the city streets with the cars and motorcycles and tuk tuks too so that’s exhilarating for foreigners too who aren’t used to the traffic :) Fun tour!
Nice mixed experience cylcing on bumpy roads acroos the countryside of Siem Reap. Got very nice insigth about buddhism, agricultue and the schoolsysteem in Cambodia. Forget about the advertised snacks and pamwine, they are not included although advertised.
Sary was an excellent guide really informative. A fascinating experience and a glimpse of life outside of the city. Can't recommend highly enough especially if Sary is your guide!
I had Sai for this adventure and he was the best tour guide I could have asked for! The cycling was very leisurely and started in the city - visiting a huge local market and trying one of his childhood favourite treats. Then we visited the countryside, where I saw his home, rice paddy and lotus fields, and how rice wine is created! Sai was super informative and his (mostly self-taught!) English was very good. But he was also a truly inspiring character, teaching children after work so they get better opportunities in life. I felt truly blessed to have had him and, as a solo female traveller, I felt in very safe hands.
Thank you for choosing our countryside bicycle tour. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your tour with Sai. I will be sure to pass your lovely compliments on to him. Wishing you safe travels, Jay Founder & Managing Director Adventure Travel Co.
It was a great experience, definitely recommended to take a look at the suburbs of Siem Reap. My tour guide Sai was great. He was at time at the hotel and brought the bike there, which was a light mountain bike in a very good state (almost new). Sai was very friendly and provided a lot of information very clearly. Since it was a private tour, the tour lasted around 3 hours and despite the hot weather (30 degrees Celcius) it was doable. Nice tour, good provider company and fabulous guide.
Wonderful experience for my partner and I, and made more so by a skilled and relaxed local tour guide who added rich layers of information, insights and humanity. The friendliness of the local people is a lasting impression that endears me to this beautiful community of people. Highly recommend this tour and tour guide. THANK YOU!
Our guide was really great! He told us lots about culture and history of the area. We even met his lovely family. We cycled to a temple, a market and a school, then chilled with a drink in some huts. Cycling along the rice fields was really nice. We really enjoyed this! Bikes were good too!! Thank you for a great tour!
Sai picked us up from our hotel on time and we went to pick up the bikes. They were good quality Giant bikes and we were given safety helmets. Getting out of the city is quite hairy but we were soon in the back streets. The countryside is beautiful and we even visited Sai's home and family. Our Tuk Tuk ride took us to Artisans Angkor to see the workshops, Theam's House for for history and art. The highlight for us was a visit to a pagoda to be blessed by a Monk. Sai is local to the area and is very knowledge.
Dorn was our guide and he took us to his village, 15-20min from the Siem Reap night market by bike. We stopped at Lotus fields, a fish farm, a temple, had sugar cane juice and some lunch (unexpected) in a very nice place, away from the typical Siem Reap touristic paths. We'd had doubts at first if taking it or not, and it was totally worth it! Also, it was only 4 of us, plus Dorn.
Hi Manuela, Thank you for taking the time to review your cycling experience with Dorn, it is great to hear that you thought the tour was worthwhile! We work hard to keep our tours affordable and to create an authentic experience for each and every one of our guests, so we keep the tours a little bespoke and let our guides go with what works for them on the day - hence your unexpected lunch! Allowing guides like Dorn to show our guests around their homes really does make the experience special and I'm so glad that even though you had doubts, you enjoyed your day! Best Regards, Jay Adventure Travel Co.
