ENGLISH SPEAKERS DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR TO THE SACRED VALLEY

This was the single most disappointing part of our trip to Peru. When we called the tour company the day before to reconfirm the pick up time of 7am on the ticket, we were told between 6:30-7am. We were not picked up until 7:15 and were told we were the last stop. Had we known that, we could have eaten breakfast and would have come up later, closer to 7. Since we were the last stop, all seats were taken so we were unable to sit together despite there being other single people whom the guide should have asked to move to allow us to sit together for what amounted to a 12 hour day. We booked an English tour and we were the only 2 non-Spanish speakers. A bilingual tour would have been fine but the guide had pretty good English - not great - however he spoke at length in Spanish for several minutes and only then, spoke for a much shorter time in English. I suggested he speak a few sentences in Spanish and then the same in English which he did for a short while and that was better. He also didn’t accompany us after giving us some cursory info so we were pretty much on our own. We asked questions of other tour guides and eavesdropped to hear more info. The textile stop was interesting but he did not enforce the other passengers returning to the bus at the time he said. This happened repeatedly at every stop and eventually we were so late that we didn’t even get to go to our last stop in Pisac which was what we were looking forward to the most. AND we had to pay for tickets that included that stop. So wrong. Instead he took us to yet another souvenir shop that sold jewelry. After a full day of being accosted by street sellers, this was the last thing we wanted to do. The bus was so hot and repeated requests to turn on the AC were ignored. There was a baby onboard with a dirty diaper that the mother changed on the bus and the heat just aggravated the odor. All in all, we were so looking forward to the Sacred Valley tour but it was not a good experience. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back so we’ll have to rely on our photos and the few details we learned.

Willy brought meaning to sacred valley

One thing that really made this trip complete was the impeccable knowledge and wisdom of our guide Willy. He was absolutely amazing from start to finish, great humor, patience, and shared his deep knowledge of the Incas, told us their tales and not only shared their spirituality, but discussed modernity and science. Because of the context we were given, I truly felt like I was visiting not just beautiful places, but being surrounded by history, heritage, and culture. It was a life changing trip! Willy is one of the best!!!

Perfect day trip from Cusco

A wonderful and well organised tour from Cusco. We visited five sites as a part of the tour which was a very nice orientation to the Inca civilization and local traditions. The guide was very well informed and spoke good English. It was well worth the time and money.

Flawless

A perfect day tour from Cusco, included visitis to five archaeological sites with a lunch stop at a local restaurant in Urubamba. karen was very friendly and managed this tour incredibly. She was very nice in explaining the local traditions and culture and gave us a detailed insight into the Inca history and how the Spanish conquest affected them. It was a perfect tour to get an intoduction.

Fascinating but tough

The ruins are amazing, history of area is fascinating. Tour guides were wonderful. But we are in our late 70’s. Found walking the terrain difficult & tiring.

Bad experience!

I hated the experience. First I find out only at the time Moray is not included in the tour (even included in the price) then the guide speaks too much and gives us 10 minutes for photos. To make the worst of all worse. My girlfriend went bad and the guide simply replied “we can’t wait” and even after he still releases me “vcs don’t want to take advantage and return to the hotel of vcs right from here?” I would never accept that!!!! Inadmissible. I do not recommend

Bad experience, do not recommend this agency

They didn’t pick me up at the scheduled time, I was in the lobby 15 minutes before the scheduled time, when I saw that about 20 minutes of the pickup time had passed and they didn’t go through me, I communicated to the agency and the lady told me that they had passed, but they were going to make the refund, I asked her to place me on another similar tour, although I find it incredible that I was the one who sought the solution, I had to convince the lady to place me on another similar tour. Finally if I was placed on another lower price and did not get the refund of the difference in costs of the tours, which at least I appreciate if I could take a similar tour. It was a very unpleasant experience, they do not consider the effort one makes to visit their archaeological zones and it is easy for them to make a cancellation and make a refund.

Agency lack of seriousness

I made my reservation in advance by Trip Advisor and this agency never contacted us to confirm that they would pass to our hotel, on the day of the reseva I had to contact them to advise that kos we were expecting, and they sent a taxi that took us to Chinchero, and we were NOT the only ones to whom this happened. And the agency that served us during the tour was not the contracted one, the Service was provided by Quora Travel. Guide Ivan is good. I do not recommend Machu Picchu Peru for its lack of seriousness.

One of the best experiences

The tour started early in the morning, our Raul Guide was the best we could ask for. I speak Spanish fluently, while my partner speaks only English. Our guide Raul always made sure that we all understood the history and meaning of each rock, word or place. We felt a very personalized tour even if we were in a group. The whole experience was almost perfect, we were just a little uncomfortable, that not all passengers respected the biosecurity regulations properly, they were without masks, etc. Apart from this everything was very well organized and very professional. Thank you so much! We already wish to return
