Galle é uma das cidades mais populosas do Sri Lanka. Este paraíso à beira-mar no sudoeste da ilha é um dos mais conhecidos de todo o país devido à sua importância histórica. Foi o principal porto da ilha até à chegada dos portugueses no século XVI. O farol de Galle está situado dentro do marco do Forte de Galle. É construído sete metros acima da estrada nas muralhas. Esta é a estação de luz mais antiga do Sri Lanka, datada de 1848, mas o farol original foi destruído por um incêndio em 1934. Foi reconstruído na altura atual de 26m. A estação da luz está dentro das paredes do antigo forte de Galle, um patrimônio mundial da UNESCO e uma atração turística bem conhecida, tornando este o farol dos países mais visitado. O Museu Marítimo Nacional de Galle está repleto de maravilhas náuticas e marinhas, desenterradas do mar e exibidas aqui. Galle sempre foi um porto importante, visitado por navios e comerciantes de todo o mundo por vários milênios. Como tal, não escapou das garras dos comerciantes holandeses que colocam o lucro acima de tudo.
A Torre do Relógio de Galle é um monumento de pedra de quatro andares que data do final do século XIX. Foi construído dentro das muralhas do Forte de Galle, no local da sala da guarda anterior, com vista para um dos três bastiões do forte. Embora a antiga torre do relógio seja um grande monumento para fotografar, serão necessárias algumas manobras hábeis devido ao ângulo extremo próximo. Portanto, pode ser melhor fotografá-lo do Bastião da Lua, voltado para a torre. (combina com o forte de Galle) No final do passeio, voltará para a acomodação com boas lembranças
Originalmente construído em 1640, o edifício atual data de 1752. Seu piso é pavimentado com lápides de cemitérios holandeses, enquanto outras características impressionantes incluem o órgão e um imponente púlpito feito de madeira de calamander e encimado por um grande dossel hexagonal. Outrora um hipódromo para apostas coloniais britânicas, o campo de críquete de Galle foi estabelecido há mais de 100 anos. Desde 1998 é utilizado para partidas internacionais; em 2010, foi o local da lendária última aparição do grande jogador de boliche do Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan. Há uma grande perspectiva do terreno do Bastião do Sol ao sul.
- Localizado em Galle, o Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, como o nome sugere, é um shopping localizado em um edifício colonial lindamente restaurado, originalmente construído durante a ocupação holandesa. Tem uma seleção cada vez maior de lugares para comer, beber ou fazer compras. Existem vistas fabulosas da baía a partir da varanda superior. (combina com o forte de Galle)

So much too see, so many stops. Turtla Rescue center, beach views, mangrove forest boat tour. Obligitory sales stops at Cinnamon Island and Gem Stone mine. Galle Fort with the famous jumpers (Nest thing on the tour) and thrn the stilt fishermen. I eluld reverse the order though as the stilt fishermen is late in the day.

go with a friend as my driver/guide wasn't very talkative about the area.Turned up on time.Drove like a mad man.Found the Turtles really fasinating the boat trip ok.Gallie quiet busy but cooler than Colombo.Be prepared for a long day.

This was a great trip with a brilliant driver and our guide Naveen for whom nothing was too much trouble - we had a full tour of the Dutch fort which was intriguing after a brilliant cruise on the river seeing lots of wildlife and having a foot bath with the fishes - the turtle hatchery was really informative and great fun

1) extremely rough driving 2) not spors were not clean like bentota beach. there were other beaches which were cleaner 3) quality of vehicle not great for charges

We had a great tour with Krish, who was a great guide and fun to talk to during the long rides. We saw the sea turtles, toured the river, and had about an hour in Galle. Made it back to Colombo around 7 after starting around 8:45.

I had an amazing experience - it was a private tour and I need to thank to the company for very fast and accurate communication. The driver took me to all the places included in the program - we spent almost 12 hours on the road visiting different places and it was amazing. I do recommend to have a water safari at Madu river. Kosgoda sea turtles conservation project is the other thing you should know.

One needs to carefully read the itinerary. it is full of additional optional offers that are not cheap. it adds up and the total trip cost is not too high. driving in a busy towns does not add to the experience. in fact driving in general is crazy FOR the PASSANGER. the only highlight for me was the Modu Safari. The Galle fort has no uniqueness other than its history. I would pick the stops in the itinerary that i want to go. Tell the driver to get there through the highway. the operator & driver executed flawlessly but the trip content does not worth it for me.
