Amazing bike tour, a must in Cascais!

We had Juliano as our bike guide. He was so amazing, knowledgeable, and kind. The experience was wonderful. They provided helmets as well as water. I would recommend bringing sunglasses and sunscreen in a fanny pack. This tour is most ideal for someone who is somewhat athletic. Overall, my brother and I had an absolute ball!

The bike ride we did was...

The bike ride we did was absolutely worth it and one of the highlights of our trip. The route took about 5 hours with a few short stops along the way plus a lunch break, and the scenery constantly changed — charming towns, mountains, ocean views, and beautiful farmland all in one ride. The views were incredible throughout. Our guide, Juliano, was amazing: attentive, accommodating, helpful, and made the entire experience feel smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. I would say it requires a moderate level of fitness, but the pace and stops made it very manageable. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience the area in a unique and memorable way.

Good mountain ride, but not a “relaxed e-bike ride”

3 stars for scenery and bikes. Our guide was ok. Didn’t tell us history or detail of what we were seeing, but friendly and did answer questions when asked. Minus 2 stars for inaccurate description of ride. This is not a “relaxed e-bike ride” as in other cities. It is an e mountain bike ride. First 1.5 hrs of ride is uphill mostly unpaved, gravel and rock roads with holes, uneven cobblestones, metal grates, a part where you need to walk bike uphill and lift over gates (guide does the lifting), and a short single track portion. This is for riders with some e mountain bike or road bike experience. A relaxed e-bike ride would start at the visitor center after that part and be mostly paved roads. That part was good and could be done by any level of experience or fitness. The first 1.5 hours is not good for inexperienced bike riders. I’d suggest renaming this tour “e-mountain bike ride” and leave it at that.

Hi Melissa, Thank you for joining us in the hills! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the scenery and that our bikes were up to the task—we take a lot of pride in keeping our fleet in top shape for the unique terrain of Sintra. I appreciate your candid feedback regarding the "Relaxed" label. It’s a bit of a local’s trap: because the e-bikes take the "burn" out of the climb, we often focus on the physical ease, but you’re absolutely right—the technicality of the terrain is a different story. Sintra is a rugged, ancient landscape, and "off the beaten path" naturally includes those gravel trails and gates that make the forest so special. However, I hear you loud and clear: if you’re expecting a paved city cruise, a single-track trail is a big surprise! I also appreciate the note about the history. I’ll be chatting with our guide to ensure we’re balancing that friendly service with the deep stories and context that Sintra deserves. We are actually going to review our tour descriptions on the back of your comments. We want every guest to feel prepared, not surprised, so your suggestion to lean into the "E-Mountain Bike" terminology is a great one. Safe travels, and I hope your next ride is on some smooth, flat pavement! Best regards,

This was the highlight of our trip to Portugal

The tour is a bit under 40 km. It takes about 5 hours. There will be a break at an interpretative center and another one for lunch. There is a range of terrain: smooth asphalt, stone, sand and dirt. The views are outstanding. Our guide, Juliano, was very easy-going, STRONG, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour for those who love to cycle. It's totally worth the money. Note: Even with a maximum of 6 guests, this ebike tour will be very challenging for those who rarely ride. One should try out an ebike a few times on flat terrain before attempting. Learn how to adjust the level of support, change the gears and apply both brakes before setting out. Know that the ebike support turns off if the bike is idle for a while. Also, if participating with children, instruction in cycling etiquette is recommended: keep at least 2 bike lengths away, pick a spot in line and stay there, keep to the RIGHT, pull over if you plan on stopping, park your bike such that it can't fall over, and remember, this is not a time for trick-cycling.

We had a great time on...

We had a great time on our bike tour with Juliano. We went down a local trail and through a beautiful countryside area with wild flowers and donkeys. Then through a mountainside area with overlooks and along the coastline. We definitely recommend this tour! We were able to see places we never would have found without a great guide.
