We were only in the coliseum for 10 minutes. We were not allowed re-entry later after the tour because you are only allowed in once per day at your time slot. This was incredibly disappointing. The itinerary online said we would be in the coliseum for an hour. The tour guide himself was very knowledgeable, however he was difficult to understand with the mic, did not give us any time to take photos. I would not recommend the coliseum + Palatine hill reservation. There are plenty of plaques around palatine hill for you to appreciate it enough using a self guided tour. On a bright note, the tour company reps themselves were lovely. We were running very late and they were as accommodating as they could be, and helped us start the tour on time.

. The tour was overwhelming from start to finish. The meeting point was extremely overcrowded, and the Vatican portion of the tour was very long and exhausting, especially given the heat. Although the Basilica was included in our tour, we were required to walk back to the original meeting point, which was a considerable distance from the Vatican, and then meet another tour guide before continuing to the Basilica. We were told it would take approximately another 20 minutes to walk there. At that point, we were too exhausted to continue and decided to leave the tour. We also noticed that many people were having difficulty finding their way back to the meeting point, which added to the confusion and frustration. My suggestion would be to have the tour guide meet the group directly at the Vatican and continue from there to the Basilica, rather than requiring tourists to walk back to the original meeting point and then reconnect with another guide. This would make the tour much more organized, efficient, and enjoyable for everyone, particularly in hot weather.

Tour says optional underground tour but after booking the underground part was not an option. We made the most of the tour anyway but I would not recommend booking 2pm as it’s was in the sun most of the time and was extremely hot. Still interesting but I was disappointed not to be on the underground tour as I had thought I’d booked . Expensive for what it was .

Marco knew his stuff and made learning a lot of history very fun. The grounds are even more amazing with that context. Great tour!!

Absolutely incredible experience, the whole tour was brought to life by our incredible tour guide. Highly recommended!

Amazing ruins and not just at the Colosseum. Great to skip the line and get a route through the ruins that was avoiding most of the crowds. Guide had a great personality, was happy to take questions, and had many little stories and facts to share. Only downer was standing in line in the middle of the tour to get into the forum area. Still plenty of tourists in the third week of September and still hot.

We paid extra for the underground tour. Either the guide or the administration made a mistake. The guide thought we were supposed to be at the colosseum at 1400 hours, however the tickets were for 1300 hours. So when we got to the colosseum an hour late. They did not want to let us in at all. The guide talked them into letting us in for a couple minutes, but we never got to tour the underground portion we paid extra for. The main reason we booked this portion of the tour. We are also requesting a partial refund for their mistake. Not sure how that’s going to go

The tour guide was excellent. He was informative and knowledgeable regarding the Colosseum, not an easy accomplishment considering the ruins are 2000 years old.

Absolutely amazing. Our host provided essential information about the tour to the point I could feel what the gladiators must have experienced. The grounds outside of the coliseum are amazing as well. The staff is very organized and have the many visitors moving and engaging like clockwork, but you don’t feel rushed. My husband is a lover of American football and was astonished at the similarities of Roman coliseum and football, meanwhile my surprise trip to him was for him to enjoy and to show how it all ties together. Amazing trip

First, let me say that it was very easy to find our group. They gave us perfect instructions and a person was waiting there with a placard, so we were sure to be in the right place. So important. Our Guide, and I’m not 100% sure of her name. It might have been Sylvia, was excellent. Lovely woman with glasses. I hope that explains her. She first took us to the forum and explained everything about what went on there and gave us incredible insight into the Roman political life, and the lives of the people who lived there. She had books with pictures of what the ruine looked like originally so that we could see exactly what the remains represented. She told us all about their lives as though she had been there. She was so incredibly familiar with the material. She had a great sense of humor, too, and answered all questions thoroughly. We did a lot of walking, and this woman had inexhaustible energy! She literally explained things about the trees and the landscape. It was amazing. We went to the Colosseum and got right in, and she explained what the lives of the gladiators were like. Where the spectators sat, what the wives of the Senate did with the gladiators, which was to have coffee, of course. She dispelled many of the myths that we saw in movies. It was a hot day and she kept the tour moving perfectly. It was really one of the highlights of our trip to Rome and one that we will not forget. Well worth the money if you want to experience Roman political life, and the history of Rome.
