Hisam, our tour guide, was amazing. The tour itself was well paced, and a great way to learn about and see Ancient Rome in a 3-4 hour period.
Worst tour experience ever!!!!!!!! Do not book with this tour company. The guide got into a fight with the guards at Palatine Hill which left us waiting for him in the crowds, which was not a calm start to the tour in such a chaotic area of Rome. He brought us to a viewpoint and said he’d explain what we were seeing shortly, while he left to make a phone call. When he returned, he pointed to sites in the distance and then said we were leaving. We’d assumed he would’ve taken us to the edge of the viewing area to take photos as he was explaining. My husband stayed where the group was gathered and my daughter and I ran to the edge for a quick selfie. When we returned the group had vanished. We called the tour company and I reached out through the Viator app. We were told they couldn’t contact the guide to reunite us with the group and there were NO REFUNDS since it was our responsibility to not lost the guide. What?!!! The guide was clearly flustered from the situation with the guards and hadn’t even stopped to count to make sure the entire group was gathered. My daughter has now been to Rome, but never got to see the inside of the Coliseum, nor The Forum…..both of which we paid a pretty penny for to take the tour. I’m beyond disappointed, not just at the guide for leaving us lost and alone in the blazing heat, but at the horrible customer service we experienced from that point forward. PSA - choose a different tour company!
Convenient tour, definitely check it out. Maria Luisa was great.
The guided tour was very informative. Georgio who was the tour guide did a great job despite the extremely hot day and severe tourist traffic. Overall a good experience 🙂
We visited the Colosseum on the hottest day of our entire Italy trip. We had booked the earliest 9:00 AM tour months in advance, hoping to beat the heat, but unfortunately a heat wave had other plans! Going into the tour, we were honestly a little worried. We had just come from a Vatican tour the day before that felt rushed, so our expectations weren't as high as they should have been. The moment we met Andriy, though, all of that changed. His energy and enthusiasm were contagious. From the very beginning, he reminded us why we were so excited to visit one of the most incredible places in the world. Even in the blazing heat, he kept everyone engaged, smiling, and genuinely interested. What I appreciated most was how passionate and prepared he was. He showed us photos of what the Roman Forum and Colosseum would have looked like in ancient times, which completely changed how we saw the ruins. It helped us imagine what life was like back then and gave us an even greater appreciation for the ingenuity and achievements of the Romans. He shared so many fascinating facts and stories, but never in a way that felt overwhelming. Everything was easy to follow, engaging, and memorable. By the end of the tour, yes, we were hot and exhausted but we also left feeling incredibly happy that we had chosen this tour. Looking back, I honestly think the extreme heat made us appreciate Andriy even more because he somehow managed to keep the experience enjoyable despite the conditions. I really can't say enough good things about him. A great guide doesn't just share facts, they make history come alive, and that's exactly what Andriy did. He turned what could have been an uncomfortable morning into one of the highlights of our trip. If you're considering a Colosseum tour, I truly hope you get Andriy. He made us leave with not only a deeper appreciation for ancient Rome, but also with wonderful memories we'll always look back on.
The guide knew so much history of the area and was very good. I highly recommend it. Lots of walking bring water.
Exploring the Colosseum and the Roman Forum felt like stepping straight into the heart of Ancient Rome. Walking through the towering arches of the Colosseum and standing where gladiators once fought gave me goosebumps. It's one of those places that truly makes history come alive. Wandering through the Roman Forum was just as exciting. Every path led to another incredible ruin, ancient temple, or hidden corner waiting to be discovered. It felt like an adventure around every turn, and I found myself constantly stopping to take it all in. If you're visiting Rome, don't rush it. Wear comfortable shoes, bring plenty of water, and give yourself time to explore. It's an unforgettable journey through history that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a bit of adventure and an experience they'll never forget.
Our tour guide made us feel like we were living in ancient Rome - experiencing day-to-day life as a Roman. It was wonderful!
It’s very hot in the summer so bring water and a cooling towel. Our guide Giorgio was very knowledgeable and a super nice guy!
