Tiler is a Perfect tour guide! Very knowledgeable, very funny and very. Organized! He is very engaged with the street artists and their work - and he really loves New Orleans!!
Tour would not play at the start location. Tried 15 times and it was frozen on the "download" page. Cell had full service, so it cannot be blamed on that. Never got to enjoy the tour.
Hi there, I'm sorry you had issues starting your tour. Could you please email us at support@voicemap.me with the details of the account you used to redeem the tour? We will look into what happened and help find a solution that works for you based on your travel plans. I am sorry you experienced this problem, I know how frustrating it is while travelling. This self guided audio tour uses the app 'VoiceMap' which my husband and I have had mixed experiences with. The app initially would not pick up our GPS location and we consequently walked in the wrong direction - but once we restarted it, it was smooth sailing. The information on the audio guide was interesting. The voice over, tone and method of delivery made it seem very personal and warm. The only complaint we had is that - at one point the guide had us walk over to an underpass and told us to explore the area under the bridge. That area though was inhabited by displaced individuals living in tents etc. Unsure if the guide was made before they took over that area, but it was very confusing to say the least for my husband and I. Our recommendations if you do the audio tour: - There is alot of walking - so be prepared - Plan your trip so you aren't too close to sunset or peak afternoon heat - The tour starts in Louis Armstrong park but only covers a small portion of it, if you want to check out more of the park, account for that in your time. - The tour references and walks by certain stores and coffee shops - all of which close around 2-3pm. We'd recommend the tour for anyone who likes exploring at their own pace and is comfortable with long long walks.
The narrative was very well done. I learned a lot and enjoyed listening to it. It was very impressive that the system could detect where I was standing and start the narrative regarding that spot. I will definitely look for these again.
Truly enjoyed this self paced audio tour! I was able to walk the entire neighborhood and feel a connection in real time while learning the history of this historically Black neighborhood. The directions and automatic resumption of the recording as I reached the next destination was awesome! So glad I found this last minute tour! My trip was indeed enhanced because of it! I’ll be doing it again when I return for the Jazz fest. The quaint coffee shop and museum were closed so I definitely will repeat!
This experience was great from the beginning. Easy to download and use the app. Very clear speaker with interesting info. Great guidance.
I enjoyed the personal and individual insights by the guide. I also enjoyed how well we were “guided” around.
Overall, the tour is good, the download and operation of the app as well as the location work well. However, some information is outdated (e.g. the Backstreet Museum has moved). On the way we met a woman who advised us not to walk the route below Claiborne Ave as the route was not safe. This is also a place for homeless people to sleep. So we skipped this part of the track. As a result, the individual audio stations of the tour could only be started manually with difficulty.
Interesting notes and historical details, easy to follow, no software glitches worked perfectly. Well worth the price and time spent.
The audio story was great, but there are two sections that request the listener cross sections of a hwy that IS NOT MADE FOR PEDESTRIAN CROSSING. Be careful!!!
