I had an amazing time hiking with Stefan. We hiked the Crow Pass Trail, which was beautiful. He was very knowledgeable about the trail and habitats, and he went out of his way to ensure I had the best experience possible. He would tell me about the plants and birds while keeping an eye out for wildlife! We saw moose and several incredible birds along the way. I highly recommend this tour and Stefan!
Fantastic to hear! Stefan is wonderful, and I am glad you had a great time out there and got to see wildlife. Thank you for hiking with us!
Mike our guide made the whole experience hiking so fun and we learned so much from him as he’s very engaging and experienced
Mike has been with us for a few seasons now. We love having him! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
The hike itself (we did the South Fork Eagle River Trail to Eagle and Symphony Lakes in Chugach State Park - 11 miles out and back) was great and our guide (Caleb) was very good and knowledgeable - we had some great conversations about living in Alaska, climate change etc. It ended up raining/drizzling all day so there were many puddles along the way that we did the best to avoid (one of us had waterproof hiking boots but not the other, so their shoes and socks got completely drenched). The boulder field at the end is quite challenging for oldsters like us who can't risk breaking bones, because they were wet and slippery in spots. The description on the TripAdvisor page said "day packs, trekking poles and apple, granola bar, cheese stick, sandwich" were included. Caleb did bring PB&J sandwiches for us and water bottles, but that was it. We brought our own backpacks, trekking poles and snacks (one of us is diabetic so can't each sugary snacks), and good thing we also packed rain ponchos.
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. September was quite rainy, indeed! We'll make sure to query guests beforehand about balancing and what not when considering taking other folks out to South Fork because of the boulder field. Thanks for the insight. I'm surprised that he did not offer a backpack and trekking poles, as those are held in our vehicles. He should have offered you both, our apologies. We'll make sure the guides understand to always offer this equipment, as you're correct in stating that we do market that on the description. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us a review!
Had a really great experience on this hike. It was a good length and saw many plants and lakes. The guide Bryce was super nice to talk to and very knowledgeable. There isn’t much incline, mostly strenuous in length. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to hike in Alaska!
Hi Courtney! Thanks so much for leaving us a review of your hike to Symphony and Eagle lakes with Bryce. I'm glad to hear about your experience with Bryce and how the difficulty of the hike met your level of fitness. I'm glad we were able to contribute to your Alaskan vacation, and thank you for taking the time to leave us a review!
The hike was extremely strenuous (as mentioned in the description). Madison was great identifying the various plants and flowers along the way. The views at the top were unbelievable and very much worth the steep climb up.
Hi Monica! So glad to hear about your wonderful experience in the alpine and with your guide. If we can help you out in the future, please let us know!
Madison was great! Everyone in our group wanted a different experience and she went out of her way to accommodate all of us. The path we took there was gorgeous and the views were incredible. I would highly recommend this.
Madison has been a great addition for us. Glad you had a great time, thanks for the review!
Really enjoyed this day hike. Tyler arrived right at 0900 and it was a short 20 minute drive to the hiking spot. The hike can be adjusted based on group ability but this particular hike was not difficult - mainly flat, only 800 feet ascent over the ~6 hour/11.5 miles. We paralleled the Eagle river and had tremendous views and also saw moose along the way. This is an excellent option if you are not sure where to hike and/or need someone knowledgeable to point out many of the details (how to get around the moose for example!).
Awesome to hear you had a great time! Thanks for the review and we hope to see you again!
Matthew was the best. I attended me and watched me the whole time and we were able to do 12 miles. He knows a lot about hiking. has lots of certifications and knows a lot about security and areas around to hike. He always willing to move to certain place and go back if necessary, and he made the hiking pretty fun, i really enjoyed the conversations and he choose one of the best trails around, also he knew the area pretty well since he has so many years of experience hiking.
Thank you for your kind words Ariel! What a crazy day in the wind we had. I had a blast with you and hope you enjoyed visiting Alaska. Please call me anytime you are around for a nice casual hike together. ~Matt
