Shelly was very personable and very knowledgeable about the history of Ketchhan
Shelly from OHIO was great! She was a great tour guide She made my family and I have a great experience. Shelly was very knowledgeable about each tour we took. Shelly knowledgeable about the city Disappointed with check in staff. She got to desk at time of the start of first lumberjack excursion. Felt rushed and unclear where to go luckly we just went along with others going on the same tour
Thank you for your review! We're so glad Shelly helped make your family's experience memorable with her knowledge of Ketchikan and the tours. It's also wonderful to hear you enjoyed the Lumberjack Show and learning about Tlingit culture throughout the day. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the check-in experience. We're sorry you felt rushed at the start of your tour, and we'll use your comments to improve communication during the check-in process. We'll be sure to share your kind words with Shelly. The Lumberjack show was very entertaining and the cultural and culinary tour was very informative, our guide from Cape Fox Tours (Eva, the aspiring aviation student from Utah who might fly us someday on seaplane on our next cruise back to Alaska) was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed both the excitement of the Lumberjack Show and the cultural and culinary experience. It's wonderful to know you found the tour informative and engaging. Eva's knowledge, enthusiasm, and accommodating nature help make experiences like this memorable, and we'll be sure to share your kind words with her. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
This rating is more about the travel company, Cape Fox and not about the cultural culinary experience and the lumberjack show that they represent. After paying for my husband and I to go on both for almost $300, we were left behind to find our own way to Ketchikan on and sent on the wrong shuttle and were told to call once we got there. We did and were told to find our own way to the lumberjack show and they would “make things right” after it was over by Alicia. She gave us her cellphone number and said call or text anytime. We have done both and emailed MULTIPLE times and to date NO ONE has contacted us. NO ONE has made it right and our once in a lifetime experience of Ketchikan has been permanently marred by this and our inability to experience this beautiful location and people. And we are out at least $150. BEWARE OF THIS EXCURSION!! Others seem to have similar problems with lack of coordination, etc… We did see the lumberjack show which was phenomenal just don’t use this company to try to see it.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the transportation and communication issues you experienced, as this is not the level of coordination we aim to provide at Cape Fox Tours. While we’re glad you were able to attend and enjoy the Lumberjack Show, we understand how frustrating it is when logistics don’t go as planned—especially during a once-in-a-lifetime visit. Your comments regarding the shuttle confusion and lack of follow-up are being taken seriously and have been shared with our management team for internal review. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and regret the impact this had on your overall experience in Ketchikan.
Valerie was knowledgeable, considerate for those who needed extra help. Full of information. The carvers for the pole were fun. Lunch had beer or wine and some tasty Reindeer sausage’s.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad Valerie’s knowledge and attentiveness helped make the experience comfortable and engaging, and that you enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the tour. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review.
A little confusing on meeting and where to go and did not realize we would be with a big bus that was full but was ok though) no narrative information from port to parking from guide, most drivers talk to you about the area. lumberjack portion good, also confusing going back ( no guide with us that part) culture center lunch was rushed. I don't believe anyone had time to finish. I'm sure a work in process. Might have been an off day.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how confusing transitions and a rushed pace can take away from the day, and we appreciate you sharing those concerns. We’re glad you enjoyed the Lumberjack Show and truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Your feedback has been shared with our team as we continue to fine-tune communication, narration, and timing to create a smoother experience.
Victoria was very friendly and informative. Great storyteller. I enjoyed this experience very much. Fascinating history. Multiple experiences packed into a few hours.
Thank you for the lovely review! We’re glad you found the guide engaging and knowledgeable, and that the storytelling helped make the experience memorable. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the variety and history packed into the tour. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
They were unable to keep track of their travelers. After the lumberjack show, a young lady with a clip board did not maintain SA of the group and lost half as she bolted back to the bus. Then we spent 10 mins trying to find the rest of the people that got left behind
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry for the confusion that occurred after the Lumberjack Show and understand how frustrating that must have been. With several hundred guests exiting at the same time, transitions can occasionally feel hectic, which is why we intentionally build extra time into each tour for loading and regrouping to help keep things running smoothly. We apologize that this moment impacted your experience, as that’s not how we want our tours to feel. Your comments have been shared with our team as we continue working to improve coordination during busy transitions.
There should have been Alaska Natives doing this tour. There are plenty of them who would like to correctly inform no -Natives of our culture. The person greeting us was wonderful and very knowledgeable but employee a local who own these histories.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. As a Native corporation, honoring and supporting Tlingit culture is very important to us, and we prioritize hiring locally whenever possible. During the busy summer season, there are more tour positions than we have local residents available to fill, so we also bring in additional team members who are trained to share Tlingit history and traditions with care and respect. We appreciate you recognizing the knowledge and warmth of the team member who greeted you, and we value your feedback as part of our continued commitment to meaningful cultural experiences.
