Je hebt je eigen auto nodig tijdens deze tour, die je wordt begeleid met een audioprogramma en gemarkeerde bestemmingen door het eerste commerciële windmolenpark in Zuid-Californië. Eenmaal geboekt, sturen we u een e-mailbevestiging samen met een app-download en instructies. De tour begint met een uitstalling van niet-werkende windturbines van successen en mislukkingen, samen met een stop bij een echte windturbine waar je van dichtbij kunt komen en foto's kunt maken. De tour eindigt met een stop bij de Indigo Power Plant en het gepensioneerde windmolenpark. Daar kun je afslaan op 19th Avenue naar Indian Canyon Road en vertrekken met meer kennis over hernieuwbare energie! De tour duurt ongeveer een uur, afhankelijk van je tempo. We vragen u respect voor anderen te hebben door niet samen te komen op de gemarkeerde bestemmingen. Laat auto's voor je hun verkenningstocht voltooien voordat je aan de beurt bent. De Palm Springs Windmill Self-Driving Tours is een interactieve, educatieve en leuke tour voor vrienden en familie. De tour wordt samengesteld door Tom Spiglanin, Tour Manager, waarin hij je zal begeleiden met een audioprogramma en gemarkeerde bestemmingen door het eerste commerciële windmolenpark in de Verenigde Staten. Tom’s passion got us excited about the history and functionality of this Palm Springs landmark. The windmills had always been a mystery to me since I was a small child, passing them on frequent trips to the desert with my grandparents. Finally learning how the wind turbines work - and how important they are to our everyday lives in ways many people take for granted - was fascinating. It’s an experience I won’t forget and one I’d recommend to everyone visiting the area.

Wasn’t sure if I wanted to do the golf cart tour or the less expensive self guided. We chose the self guided and were perfectly happy. The gentleman that worked there also gave us a great intro prior to starting the driving tour.

Great tour to learn about some green energy history. Self guided though the app so you can go at your own pace. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Hold on to your hat because it will try to fly away.

Honestly such an incredible tour! We opted for the VIP tour and it was fascinating. Learned a lot and our guide Tom was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions (of which we had many!). Would recommend to anyone who’s visiting nearby.

Staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Learned a lot. Highly suggest going back at sunset for pictures from across the highway-they were amazing photos. The self guided tour was well worth the cost.

I would highly recommend this tour if you are in the palm springs area. I am from the midwest and we have wind farms like this. I have never been able to see one up close though. It made you really appreciate them when you were looking up at them. I would suggest doing the golf cart tour. We learned alot from the tour guide. He was very knowledgeable.

A unique experience, to be sure. After checking in and paying at the reception trailer, we watched a semi-interesting video detailing various facets of the wind farm and wind industry. You then download an app that provides audio explaining the things you see as you drive around the property in your own vehicle. It's interesting to see historical windmill blades and hear about various windmills that are currently operating. Not overwhelmingly interesting, but still decent. It's a bit expensive (about $28 per adult). If you're looking for something out of the ordinary while you're in the Coachella Valley, this tour is it.
