I had an amazing time on this tour and it was one of the highlights of my stay in Munnar. Even though I didn't get to see any elephants, the experience was absolutely worth it. The beautiful waterfalls, tea plantations, scenic viewpoints, and peaceful nature made for an unforgettable day. A special thank you to Joshua, who was a wonderful guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour feel relaxed and enjoyable. His enthusiasm and local knowledge really added to the experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Munnar. The scenery alone makes it worth every minute!
This day in the Munnar area with guide Abbas was really good and really fun! From 10am to 5pm he drove me through different sightseeing places, explained what we saw, answered all my questions, and we had a lot of fun. The places are just amazingly beautiful for Nature lovers, and incredibly rich for European people. We didn't see elephants because it was raining too much, but Abbas told me in other periods of the year we are sure to see some. I completely recommend this tour!
Started in time . Driver is very friendly . Visited water fall and hanging bridge . Later visited Tigers cave Tortuous hike route through rocks , but helped by security guard all the way. Of course no tiger and only able bodies can enter the cave , hence do not advise as the hike was not worth Next stop was ths main attraction /l elephant . We reached at around 3:00 pm and waited until 6:00 pm No elephant Decided to leave rather then wasting time to see elephant coming over to drink water Overall not worth for the trip as the jeep drive gave us severe back pains
We booked the Wild Elephant Anakulum and Waterfalls Tour at Munnar valley through tripadvisor . The tour was well organized. The driver and tour guide Mr. Abbas was extremely polite and efficient. He showed all the sites with great enthusiasm. The tour had drinking water, tea and snacks included since there was no facilities available sometimes for long stretches in the forest. We had an amazing experience watching the beautiful tea gardens , water falls and the tiger’s cave although that day we could not site any elephants as we wanted to finish the tour early. The girl who guided Us in Tiger Cave was excellent. Not only she guided us very well, looking at my age, she took special care and helped me complete the trek which was not easy for a senior citizen. I forget her name so I am adding her photo with me :). Very grateful to her. We came back with fond memories of this tour. All in all the one day trip was very enjoyable and smooth.
We booked our trip ages ago so couldn’t remember exactly what the Itinerary was and our guide Nagu just rattled off where we’d be going. We would have appreciated a printed itinerary and a map but maybe that’s showing our age. So we headed off in a Jeep for the day not sure what it was going to entail. We got the sense that our guide was trying to fill in time until we could get to the elephant viewing site. The elephants only come down to the water later in the day. We would have been happy to start our tour later in the day in order to accommodate that instead of dawdling and being told to take our time at every stop. We’re not sure if our tour didn’t include a tea plantation tour but it would have interested us. Instead we got a photo standing in a tea plantation and then to our surprise Nagu suggested we walk 4 kms along the road which was lined by tea plantations to the next waterfall viewing spot which wasn’t much of a waterfall. But that maybe due to the time of year. We found the Bamboo forest and Tiger cave underwhelming. At times Nagu tended to be a little bit abrupt and dismissive but it may have been cultural as we were two older women. We loved the authentic home cooked meal that he provided for our picnic lunch but would have preferred to have stopped at a shady spot in a prettier setting. We enjoyed trying to eat with our right hand only and it was great to try some of the different “roti”and sambals. We had three different types to dip into our sambals but I can’t recall the names of them. Very tasty. We absolutely loved seeing the elephants enjoying themselves in the water and were so lucky to see a whole family group of eight. I could have stayed there for hours. It really was the highlight of the day. Driving in the jeep through the jungle terrain with Bollywood music ( our request) blaring was such fun and just felt so joyful. Nagu managed to negotiate with his boss to drop us off at our magnificent Mistletoe Homestay which cut an hour off our trip home. It did cost us though but was worth it. All in all a very pleasant day.
I had such a wonderful day with Abass. This tour is definitely one to recommend, from start to finish Abass was helpful. considerate, respectful and full of local knowledge. As a solo female traveller I felt extremely comfortable. Abass did everything to make my day enjoyable, from being a great tour guide to sharing his wifi connection with me, to making sure my driver was back at the meeting place to pick me up. He also drove the jeep so carefully over some bumpy terrain! And to top it all we saw the elephants after Abass predicted the time that they would come down to drink, he was spot on.
Our driver Abbas was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We enjoyed our day although each place we stopped was very busy with other Jeeps full of people. We had a lovely swim in the river before spending 45 minutes watching the Elephants which was the highlight.
We had a wonderful day and although we didn’t actually see elephants it was great to soak up the atmosphere in Anakulum and to wonder through the tea gardens. The drive in the jeep was great fun and so much attention was put into many aspects of the day - thank you for a lovely day out.
We were looking forward to this trip in the hope of seeing the elephants in the wild.. and everything else (waterfalls, etc) was secondary. We started from Munnar around 11:00 am, and go to the elephant viewing place at about 3:00pm. Sadly the elephants didn't appear till 5:30pm, when we ran out of patience in the afternoon heat. We decided to call it a day and head back. The jeep tour was interesting, passed a few waterfalls, villages, etc. The Tiger Cave was an interesting stop. Lunch was home-cooked and provided by the guide, which was average (some cutlery would have been good, we used whatever was available). We found that the guide had a rather strong accent, which made it difficult to understand what he was saying; specially above the noise of the jeep. All in all, an average day.
My partner and I booked 3 tours through Munnar Valley Trekking, and they were all incredible. We started with Kumar who took us on the sunset trek, he was wonderful, and the walk was stunning. After this we decided to go on the Elephant tour- Nagu, was our guide, who gave us a laid back tour, tailored to our needs, with plenty of time to swim, and explore the tea fields. We were lucky enough to see the elephants, which was spectacular! Finally, we booked the sunrise trek with Ramesh, he was really lovely and super informative. Because we had already done the sunset walk, took us to an entirely new spot, and it really was amazing. If you have a short time in Munnar, I highly recommend doing any or all of these experiences! Check out Munnar Valley Trekking, you won’t be disappointed :)
