Ontspan terwijl je je een weg baant door het wijnland van Kaapstad. Neem na het ophalen plaats in een luxe touringcar die is uitgerust met voorzieningen aan boord, waaronder een toilet, verstelbare stoelen, gratis wifi en USB-oplaadpoorten. Je gids vertelt je verhalen over de vroege Hugenoten-emigranten die meer dan 300 jaar geleden hun wijnbereidingsvaardigheden naar de Kaap brachten.

De stad, ook wel bekend als de "City of Oaks", heeft gigantische eikenbomen die schaduw geven in de straten, die zijn omzoomd met pittoreske cafés, boetieks en kunstgalerijen. De Kaaps-Nederlandse architectuur dateert uit de Nederlandse koloniale geschiedenis van Zuid-Afrika. Onze gids neemt je mee op een wandeltocht door de historische stad.

Fotostop: gevangenis Drakenstein. In 1982 werd Mandela overgeplaatst van de maximaal beveiligde gevangenis op Robbeneiland, een klein eiland in de Tafelbaai, naar de Pollsmoor-gevangenis in Tokai, Kaapstad. Van daaruit werd Mandela op 9 december 1988 overgebracht naar de toenmalige Victor Verster-gevangenis, waar hij in een privéhuis op het gevangeniscomplex woonde. Victor Verster, een boerderijgevangenis, werd vaak gebruikt als opstapje voor het vrijlaten van politieke gevangenen met een lager risico. Mandela zat nog 14 maanden in de Victor Verster (nu Drakenstein) gevangenis tot zijn vrijlating op 11 februari 1990. Op de dag van zijn vrijlating omsingelden verslaggevers van over de hele wereld de gevangenis, waardoor de gevangenis wereldwijd bekendheid kreeg.

Enjoyed the Cape Winelands tour to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. It was great to taste all the different flavors of wine and experience the beautiful landscapes of South Africa. Also got to visit the prison where Nelson Mandela was released in Paarl in 1990. Great tour!

3 wineries are visited in the 3 towns offered with tastings of 4 wines, not 5 as the itinerary indicates, except for the last one (Paarl). In the first one they give you some food to snack on, in the second one is where you have to order food, and in the third one, the most beautiful for my taste with a lake and lawn with lovely trees, they give you 5 wines with sweets. Free time to walk around alone in Stellenbosch. The guide Harea is very friendly and speaks perfect English!

Went on a wine tour with a friend in July, were very pleased. Incredibly lucky with the weather, as it was fog and freezing in the morning, but by noon the sun came out. The bus was double-decker, the group was small - up to 20 people. Visited 3 wineries (Blaauwklippen, Franschhoek Cellar, Rhebokskloof Estate). First place was a tasting of 2x white wines, 1x pink and 1x red with cheese, nuts and dried fruit. In second place was lunch (not included in the price) and tasting of two white and two red wines. The third winery was in a very beautiful place near the lake, where we tasted 1 sparkling wine, 2 white wines and 2 red wines with desserts. Apart from tastings, there was free time in Stellenbosch. Everything was clear on timing. The bus is comfortable with toilet and wifi. Special thanks to our fun guide Horea Marinescu and impeccable driver Friday!

Enjoyed the day with Horea and Friday visiting the wine regions outside of Cape Town. The three wineries selected where we stopped were scenic and the wines good as well. Very relaxing day seeing another side of this beautiful country.

My partner and I had a fantastic time on this wine tour! Horea was an amazing tour guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day so enjoyable. Thanks as well to our driver, Friday, for a safe and comfortable journey. We visited three beautiful wineries and tasted around 15 different wines. The final stop by the pond, where we enjoyed dessert with our wine, was especially memorable. My wife and I loved this trip, which we took to celebrate our anniversary. Our tour guide, Horea, and our driver, Mr. Friday, were the best—Horea was incredibly funny and kind. We visited 3-4 wineries, tasted 12-15 different wines, and took in the outstanding views along the way. We highly recommend it!
