Er wachten 3 dagen puur avontuur op je... We beginnen de eerste dag met een vroege reis vanuit Quito, terwijl we ons verdiepen in de opwindende wereld van raften in Llanganates National Park. De Jatun Yacu-rivier, wat 'Grote Rivier' betekent, vormt het toneel voor een van de meest opwindende avonturen die je vandaag zult beleven. Morgen neemt onze expeditie ons mee om een van de watervallen rondom de ecolodge te verkennen... Je gids zal de verschillende beschikbare opties uiteenzetten, zoals jezelf onderdompelen in de inheemse cultuur, kanoën door natuurreservaten of foto's maken van apen op Misahualli River Beach . Op onze laatste dag verdiepen we ons in de kunst van het maken van chocolade voordat we onze tour in de stad Tena afsluiten. Dit programma begint in Quito en eindigt in Tena City. Bij het bereiken van Tena heb je de keuze om verder te gaan naar Baños de Agua Santa in de provincie Tungurahua of terug te keren naar Quito. This was supposed to be 3 days of adventure in the Amazon, unfortunately I was only given the opportunity to do 3 activities and it was never communicated to me why nor was I refunded anything. Rafting was excellent 10/10, Suchipakari Jungle Lodge was 👌🏽, excellent service and food, and the jungle trek offered by the Lodge was also exciting. I was NOT taken on the Sloth trail, to see the monkeys nor the night walk and there was miscommunication about hiking to the waterfall and the rappelling experience. I wrote the program coordinator who did reach out and assisted in some way (hence the 4 stars) but there wasn't sufficient time to make amends for what was supposed to be 3 exciting days in the Amazon. Disappointing, as this experience was largely my reason for being in Ecuador.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience falling short of expectations during your Amazon adventure. It's disheartening to miss out on activities that were eagerly anticipated The visit to Monkey Beach, scheduled for the first day after rafting, was canceled due to a coinciding event at Misahualli port. Therefore, we internally decided to reschedule this stop for the third day of your trip, which involved returning to Tena City around 11 am after the chocolate tour. However, on the night of the second day, you surprisingly requested transportation coordination to Tena City very early in the morning, wishing it to be ready by 6:30 am. At that time, it's impossible to see the monkeys, and furthermore, you were in a hurry as you woke up a bit late and couldn't enjoy the breakfast our staff had already prepared. Our guide helped you pack fruits for the journey and assisted with luggage to continue to Tena City using the same transportation as the inbound journey. However, by this time, it was no longer possible to see the monkeys, and the stop was not made. Regarding the night hike, our cameras recorded that our guide approached you on the first night of your stay to prepare with rubber boots for the activity, but you decided to postpone it to the second night. Then, on the second night, the time was agreed upon for the activity, and you canceled again because you were in a video call. Therefore, the night hike could not take place. Regarding the sloth trail tour to Rayucocha Waterfall, we informed you from the first day that it was not available due to a major landslide on the route caused by heavy rain that occurred on the same day you arrived at the lodge, which is why it was not communicated earlier. Despite this, we offered other hiking trails and waterfalls near the lodge. When our guide explained the options to change the activity on day 2, you expressed a preference for walking within the reserve, having lunch at the lodge, and tubing on the river in the afternoon. Regarding the rappelling activity, which is not included in the program and has an additional cost, you inquired about it during the tubing in the afternoon, but our guide explained that it was already too late to book it due to the logistics involved. On Sunday, when we tried to contact you, we had poor reception. Upon arriving in Baños around 11 am, you informed me that you had booked a tour in Baños but miscalculated the travel time from Tena and missed the visit. You had tried to contact the tour organizers but had received no response. As we have extensive experience in tourism and know the tour operators in Baños, we contacted the operator, who provided us with the contact of the guide with the group you intended to join that day. We managed to arrange for one of our trusted transports to pick you up at the bus terminal in Baños and take you to El Pailón del Diablo Waterfall, where you joined the group and continued the tour you missed. You were very grateful for this arrangement, and we reiterate that our goal is to clarify all aspects of the tour and ensure a positive experience for all visitors to Ecuador within the parameters of our program, even beyond our services, especially when they were a significant of your journey. It's positive to hear that the rafting, Suchipakari Jungle Lodge, and the jungle trek were enjoyable highlights of your trip. However, the missed opportunities and miscommunications undoubtedly detracted from your overall experience. Your feedback is invaluable for improving future experiences, and I hope that despite the setbacks, you were still able to find some moments of enjoyment and connection with the Amazon's beauty and wilderness.
We had such a wonderful time on our 3 day tour here. Everybody who we encountered was very kind and knowledgeable, including all our drivers! Our driver from Quito to Tena was perfectly on time and very wonderful. My Spanish is okay but I’m definitely a little slow and I was certainly rusty since we had just gotten to the country. The driver was very nice and patient, he spoke slowly and told me so much about the country. A lot of our conversation was unprompted. He told me about the climates, the people, the culture and he even gave us some tips on things to avoid - like stray dogs. He told us his favorite things about Quito as well. It was really nice to be able to talk with him. Soon enough we were in Tena and ready to white water raft. The river was beautiful, as were the forest and the people. We really enjoyed our time on the rafting. Again we had the opportunity to learn about the culture and nature. We got to swim in the river. We went through some amazing rapids. They had a wonderful and delicious lunch for us which was full of fresh vegetables. They also took amazing photos for us. It was such a nice time, we are very happy for the opportunity! Our time at the eco lodge was tranquil and beautiful. The flora is absolutely beautiful. There are so many beautiful plants and flowers to see. There’s a tarantula there as well, although we weren’t fortunate enough to meet it. There are many birds with so many interesting songs. The oro pendala is particularly amazing! I’ve never heard a bird song like that before. At night you can walk around the forest and see the nature then as well. The walking paths are very nice and the forest is just magnificent. The waterfall hike was great too. We opted for the longer hike. The forest is so interesting and wild. Although we didn’t get to encounter much wildlife - for that you either have to be lucky or go deeper - but we learned about many plants and swam at the last waterfall. Making chocolate was also very interesting and delicious! There’s so much more I can say but I’ve already written a novel. I can tell you that this company cares about their guests. They will take care of your needs. They will help in anyway that they can. The guides and everyone they work with are prompt, so you will be on time. If you’re lucky, they may offer additional experiences as well. This tour is what you make of it, and you’d have to try to have a bad time if that’s what you want. I would recommend this experience 100 times over, it was worth every penny. Thank you for everything!
