Espaço Talassa is sinds 1989 het eerste walvisspottende bedrijf op de Azoren - opgericht door een Franse zeeman en een voormalige Azoren walvisfamilie, geworteld in de geschiedenis van deze wateren. We lokaliseren walvisachtigen met behulp van dezelfde traditionele vigia uitkijktorens die ooit de walvisjagers van Lajes do Pico begeleidden, gecombineerd met hydrofoons aan boord. Uw mariene biologen delen echte kennis van de soort, hun gedrag en de oceaan die ze bewonen. Kleine groepen, ongehaaste tijd op zee, en een diep respect voor de dieren en de plaats. We booked with Espaco Talassa because we knew they were well-regarded and did a lot to protect and respect the animals. Our experience was fantastic! The zodiacs provided a small-group and up-close look at dolphins and we ended up seeing 6 species of whales and dolphins on the trip. The staff was super-friendly and our time with them was one of the highlights of our time in the Azores.

We had a very good guide, Jonas, who was able to tell us a lot about whales and dolphins. The tour was in German, there were only 12 people + skipper and guide on the boat, so everyone could see and hear well. Care was taken to maintain sufficient distance from the animals, yet many dolphins and also a few sperm whales could be observed. Finally, there was a professional explanation of the species seen. Clear recommendation and much success for your future work!!!
