Waarom dachten de Victorianen dat een hypotheek net een aap was? Hoe kan één architect twee namen op één gebouw hebben? Wat verbindt een van de belangrijkste Victoriaanse architecten van Nottingham met Mick Jagger en Thomas Hardy? Al deze en meer vragen worden beantwoord tijdens een vermakelijke en informatieve begeleide wandeling door de gebouwen van architect Watson Fothergill in het stadscentrum van Nottingham. Kom meer te weten over de gebouwen van een van de meest prominente Victoriaanse architecten van Nottingham, zijn kenmerkende stijl en de invloed van de gotiek op de gebouwen van de stad. Een wandeling van ongeveer 3 km. Aan het einde van de wandeling is er gelegenheid voor een drankje. Deelnemers wordt gevraagd voorbereid te zijn op geschikte weersomstandigheden en schoeisel te dragen dat geschikt is voor stadswandelingen. Ontmoet buiten Nottingham Tourism Centre op Smithy Row (naast Council House).

Bekijk de buitenkant van een van de meest ongewone gebouwen van Nottingham en leer meer over de architectuur en geschiedenis.
De wandeltocht gaat door het historische stadscentrum van Nottingham, inclusief het marktplein, de Lace Market en het kasteelkwartier.
De buitenkant van dit gebouw is zeker de moeite waard om te bekijken (je kunt later terugkomen en naar binnen kijken, want het is nu een sportbar)
In een ander gebouw van de architect Watson Fothergill is er de mogelijkheid om aan het einde van de wandeling naar binnen te gaan in de pub en het restaurant.

Attended this today, as I've been a fan of the WF architecture for some time and was curious to learn more. Lucy didn't disappoint, she was knowledgeable, entertaining, and kept the group entertained throughout. A really worthwhile thing to do, to learn about Nottingham, architecture, and the history of the city. Excellent value 👏 Do this on your own, in a couple or with friends. You'll enjoy it !

I arranged a private tour for a few friends and it was brilliant! Lucy set just the right pace and was both informative and entertaining. What a genuinely wonderful, enjoyable and informative walk. Lucy is that best kind of guide, clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject but able to communicate it in accessible and entertaining way. The tour itself is brilliant, you get a new appreciation of the buildings and see things you've not noticed before even if you've lived here for ages. I would absolutely reccomend this to anyone interested in architecture, Nottingham, history, victoriana and corners with turrets! Ooh, and stop at the Fothergil pub at the end the food is ace.

This was a great way to spend some time together. Our guide Lucy was fabulous, funny, and very knowledgeable. It was a reasonably large group on the tour, but it wasn’t an issue, we could always hear what Lucy was telling us, and could see the architectural features and details she was pointing out.
