De beste religieuze tour in Caïro, omdat je islamitisch Caïro, Koptische en Joodse monumenten kunt bezoeken. De starttijd van de tour is flexibel, maar meestal begint de tour rond 08.00 uur, duurt het acht uur en eindigt rond 16.00 uur. Onze Gem Explore Egyptoloog haalt je op op de door jou gevraagde locatie om je reis in Caïro te beginnen op weg naar het grootste islamitische monument Citadel van Caïro, ook wel Saladin Citadel genoemd, dateert uit de elfde eeuw en werd gebouwd door de grote krijger Saladin en zijn minister. De Citadel bevat 13 versterkte torens, bevat 7 moskeeën, Citadel was de zetel van de regering en de residentie van zijn heersers voor meer dan 700 honderd jaar, wat een kans om de moderne geschiedenis van Egypte te leren kennen. Dan is het tijd om een van de islamitische wonderen hier te bezoeken, de Mohammed Ali-moskee.
De moskee van Mohammed Ali Basha of de albasten moskee (Ottomaanse moskee, de minaretten zijn zeer uniek en hoog (86 m), de koepels binnen zijn verguld, de muren buiten en binnen zijn albast !! De moskee is voltooid en voltooid in 1848 ADVERTENTIE.
Daarna gaat de tour verder met een bezoek aan Islamitisch Caïro. Het is het gebied met de grootste en beroemdste islamitische monumenten. De plaats werd gesticht door Amr Ibn Al-A'as in 640 na Christus. De islamitische Cairo-tour begint met een bezoek aan de moskee-Madrassa van Al Sultan Hassan. De moskee werd tussen 1356 en 1363 na Christus gebouwd in opdracht van Al Sultan Hassan-An-Nassir; het staat bekend als een architectonisch wonder door zijn fascinerende grootte en Mamluki-islamitische ontwerpen. De tour gaat dan verder met een bezoek aan de AL Rifa'ei-moskee, die in de negentiende eeuw met een meer modern ontwerp werd gebouwd als aanvulling op zijn veertiende-eeuwse buurman.
De moskee bevindt zich op het Citadelplein, grenzend aan de Citadel van Caïro. Nu is het ook het koninklijke mausoleum van de familie van Muhammad Ali. Het gebouw is gelegen tegenover de moskee-Madrassa van Sultan Hassan. De moskee is voltooid en voltooid in 1912. Naast de koninklijke familie ziet u ook het graf van de laatste sjah van Iran Mohammed Reza pahlavi !!
Na de lunchpauze begin je aan een nieuwe reis met je gids door Caïro naar een van de meest religieuze plaatsen genaamd Koptisch Caïro. Koptisch Caïro is afgezien van het oude Caïro en bevat het Pabylon-fort, de hangende kerk, de Griekse kerk van St. George, de heiligen Sergius en Bacchus en vele Koptische kerken in de buurt. In de christelijke traditie wordt geloofd dat de heilige familie op de plaats van de heiligen Sergius en de Bacchus-kerk verbleef om een weg te zijn van het Romeinse leger, met je gids zul je veel meer weten en leren over het christendom in Egypte.
Rond Fort Babylon werden de oudste kerken van Egyptische christenen gebouwd. Dit gebied is niet alleen een pelgrimsoord voor mensen van verschillende religies over de hele wereld, maar heeft ook ruïnes van de Romeinse vestingwerken en verschillende kerken, een bezoek aan de hangende kerk.
De tour gaat verder met een bezoek aan de kerk van St. Sergius en Bacchus, de Heiligen Sergius en de Bacchus-kerk wordt traditioneel verondersteld te zijn gebouwd op de plek waar de Heilige Familie, Jozef, Maria en het kindje Jezus Christus, rustten aan het einde van hun reis naar Egypte . Mogelijk hebben ze hier gewoond terwijl Joseph in het fort werkte. De kerk is van groot historisch belang en in feite is het de plaats waar veel patriarchen van de Koptische kerk werden gekozen.
De tour gaat verder met een bezoek aan de Ben Ezra-synagoge. De Ben Ezra-synagoge bevindt zich in het Fustat-deel van het oude Caïro, Egypte. Volgens de lokale folklore bevindt het zich op de plaats waar de baby Mozes werd gevonden. Dit was de synagoge waarvan in de 19e eeuw een geniza of opslagruimte werd gevonden met een schat aan vergeten, opgeborgen Hebreeuwse, Aramese en Joods-Arabische seculiere en heilige manuscripten.
Nabij Khan Elkhalili, ligt een van de meest heilige islamitische plaatsen in Egypte, deze moskee is de befaamde begraafplaats van het hoofd van Hussein, de kleinzoon van de profeet Mohammed. de moskee is onlangs gerenoveerd. Mogelijkheid om mooie foto's te maken.
Daarna gaat de tour verder met een bezoek aan de Khan El-Khalili Bazaar. De Bazaar ligt in het historische centrum van Caïro; Het werd opgericht als handelscentrum in het Mamluk-tijdperk. De Bazaar heeft verschillende producten in alle soorten en vormen; niet beperkt tot zilver, koper, koperwerk, goud en lederwaren.

Abeer was a superb guide who made the day interesting and full of new learning and insights not just about Cairo and the Muslim and Coptic experience, but about so many other things from a long, noble past that weave in and out of each other‘s place and position in history and the current day. It is always fascinating to have a guide who is so positive, knowledgeable, but above all loves her country and its diverse history and contribution to the world. Among many memorable moments., possibly one of the best for sitting in a café in a traditional market, drinking, drinking, mint tea, chatting, and watching the world go by. That is one of the memories that I end of the day with a whole new appreciation for a history and story that I now realize I knew very little about. I also have to say a word of things for the driver who was quiet, courteous, but incredibly brave in traffic at a time seemed out of control. Yet, he seemed to be in total control. This was one of my best tour experiences..

Our family group of 3 had the pleasure of being on this private tour today with our guide, Mohamed Elshemei. I checked the reviews carefully before deciding on GEM, and after going on it, am very pleased with my decision and how everything turned out. Before we started, Mohamed adjusted the itinerary to fit our needs (we had already visited one of the sites, so he took us to an another historic mosque as a substitution). We were picked up promptly at our hotel by the driver and Mohamed in a touring van. The vehicle was clean and spacious, and our driver safely and expertly navigated us. Throughout the tour, Mohamed provided a wealth of information on the religious history and practices of the local people. He also tied together many of the stories we had heard from our other tours in Egypt so that we had the context for what we were seeing. He also took us through the main market, warning us about the quality of items and need to negotiate strongly. He let us stop whenever we wanted. However, we viewed it mainly as an experience just to walk through the market, but we also stopped at a "no haggle" store (at Mohamed's guidance). There was zero pressure to buy, but it was a nice, low stress way to shop for some last-minute souvenirs with low prices marked on all items. Finally, we had a nice lunch at a cafe in the Coptic area--falafel, shwarma, etc. Based on menu prices, it should have been much less than the $15 per person we paid to add lunch, but not a huge deal in the big picture. Overall it was a great day.

I had throughly enjoyed my day exploring Cairo with Mira! Despite my last minute changes to the pick-up location, Mira and the driver arrived on time ready to go. Our guide Mira was well informed, very polite and spoke English fluently. However we do recommend fact checking some of the information, as with any guide there is inherent bias. We did enjoy the tour but towards the end it felt like she was fading and she did not take us inside the second mosque. Also we did not get to do the promised itinerary because the synagogue was closed. We had an unexpected visit to an essential oil place and after that we decided to skip the bazaar part of the itinerary. I think the tour was expensive for what it offered.

Our tour through Coptic and Islamic Cairo was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Ahmed was an incredible guide — his knowledge of Egyptian history is genuinely impressive, and he brought everything to life in such an engaging way. It didn’t feel like a typical tour; it felt like walking through history with someone who truly knows and loves it. What really stood out was how he went beyond just facts and dates, sharing stories and cultural insights that made each place feel meaningful.
