Het Ainu Cultural Center is een echt verborgen juweeltje. Weggestopt in een weelderige natuurlijke omgeving een uur of zo buiten Sapporo, is dit centrum / museum zeker te behagen. Het is zeer informatief met tonnen artefacten van The Ainu. Het centrum is goed samengesteld en bezoekers worden aangemoedigd om de vele authentieke Ainu handwerken vast te houden en aan te raken. Het buitendorp met traditionele handgemaakte Ainu huizen en kano's zijn ook erg cool om te ervaren. Dit is een “must go” zicht voor diegenen die geïnteresseerd zijn in inheemse groepen. Uw tour gaat verder naar het nabijgelegen Jozankei Hot spring (Onsen) Village. Er zijn 56 warmwaterbronnen in Jozankei, geconcentreerd rond zowel de Tsukimibashi- als de Takayamabashi-brug, samen met de Toyohira-rivier die door het dorp stroomt. Het water van de meeste van deze warmwaterbronnen heeft een gemiddelde temperatuur van 60 tot 80 graden Celsius. Als lid van deze tour ervaart u een twee uur durend warmwaterbronbad in een van Jozankei's meest gerenommeerde warmwaterbronhotels.

Deze tour begint bij Sapporo Station voor “Myomu” (The Circular Stone Structure) voor de zuidelijke uitgangsdeuren van Sapporo Station. Kom hier precies om 9 uur bijeen. Uw gids zal er zijn om u te begroeten. Na korte introducties en een glimlach beginnen we aan onze prachtige tour die begint bij The Ainu Cultural Center. De tour begint hier bij The Ainu Cultural Center. Je gids neemt je mee door de 1 uur durende tour van het Ainu Center Museum (tentoonstellingsruimte). Hier leer je over de levensstijl, geschiedenis en kunst van de Ainu-bevolking, de inheemse bevolking die Hokkaido voor het eerst vestigde en een unieke cultuur ontwikkelde. Deze faciliteit is de eerste in zijn soort in Japan die zich richt op de oorspronkelijke bewoners en stelt bezoekers in staat om uit de eerste hand traditionele Ainu-ambachtswerken (meer dan 300 items) gemaakt door Ainu-ambachtslieden te voelen, aan te raken en te ervaren.
Na het verlaten van The Ainu Cultural Center, gaat u (met de bus) naar het zeer nabijgelegen schilderachtige kleine warmwaterbrondorp dat bekend staat als Jozankei. Jozankei ligt in het weelderige groene Shikotsu-Toya National Park. Dit gebied wordt gekenmerkt door topografie en fenomenen gecreëerd door honderden jaren van vulkanische activiteit. Aldus heeft deze vulkanische activiteit tal van natuurlijke warmwaterbronnen gecreëerd die het hele gebied van Jozankei Village bezaaien. Bij aankomst zal uw gids u rondleiden in de omgeving en ervoor zorgen dat u alle populaire bezienswaardigheden die Jozankei biedt ziet. Deze omvatten zowel de Jozankei Shrine en Tempel, Gesen Park en voetbad, Futami Park en Futami Tsuribashi Hangbrug. Deze begeleide wandeltocht door Jozankei is adembenemend elk seizoen van het jaar.
Uw tour wordt afgesloten met een fysiek rustgevende “high note”. Uw gids begeleidt u naar de warmwaterbron van Hotel Shika no Yu. Hier zult u genieten van de zeer populaire 2 uur dag-bad ervaring. Natuurlijk zijn warmwaterbronnen (“onsen” in het Japans) een integraal onderdeel van de Japanse cultuur en worden ze al eeuwenlang genoten vanwege hun therapeutische en ontspannende eigenschappen. Bezoekers van Japan, zou verkeerd zijn om niet te ervaren een onsen bad. Je krijgt de kans op deze tour! Na het weken in een van de vele warmwaterbronnen, gaan we langzaam terug naar Sapporo Station

Great learning experience about one of the lesser known parts of Japan history, and the onsen experience was a lovely way to end it. Lunch venue was very interesting and fun as well!
A lovely few hours enjoying Scott’s guidance and hospitality. Enjoyed the Ainu Museum, the public transportation rides, the lunch experience, the onsen soaking and of course, Scott’s conversations and dry humor! The experience was enhanced by the presence of Stella and Faith from Hawaii in our little group.
Highly recommend this small group tour. If there’s interest in Ainu culture and history, book this trip. Scott was very informative, insightful and it’s a better way to fully experience the centre rather than just walking through it. Day is very balanced with the onsen trip after it. Thanks Scott :)
We used public transportation to get there so it took a while but was scenic along the way. The Ainu Museum was very interesting. Then, we headed to Jozankei for lunch, a short hike, and the onsen at a local hotel. It was a different experience than our hotel onsen. There were a lot of people but 3 different baths. Overall, it was a long but very good day with our guide, Scott.
He is knowledgeable and explained things in detail so that we could easily understand. It was a pleasure traveling with you. Thank you..
This was an outstanding tour where we were able to be immersed in the culture at the museum as well as explore the hot springs town. Our guide was informative and friendly. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in the culture of Sapporo and interested in the Indigenous culture of Japan.
A great tour, with an engaging tour guide in Scott. Fees were all included in the ticket and you get a good showing around the Ainu museum and the Hot Springs, coupled with the onsen trip, lasting about 10 hours from start to finish. Highly recommended, although wear shoes with grip if going on the gorge hike during off season!
