Reisroute

The tour was amazing. Schloss Leopoldskron was incredible and the view of the pond in back set up for a great family picture. Our driver Alenka was very knowledgeable and took us to incredible places to see as many areas connected to The Sound of music. We saw the gazebo from 16 going on 17, the Abbey and St. Michael's church where the wedding was filmed. Did a sing along as we traveled and just had a great time. From pick up to drop off at our hotel, we had a blast. Would highly recommend this tour even if you are not a big fan of Sound of Music just because of the incredible sights.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you had such a fantastic time exploring the iconic Sound of Music filming locations with Alenka. It’s great to know you enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the sing-along, and all the memorable stops—from Schloss Leopoldskron to the gazebo, the Abbey, and St. Michael’s Church. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to Alenka. Thank you for recommending the tour, and we hope to welcome you back to Salzburg for another unforgettable experience!

We did the group sound of music tour and had a horrific experience. The audio and video on the bus didn’t work so ruined the music aspect. Three busses left at the same time. We got on the second bus at 13:40, 20 mins before starting time. One of our group stood just outside the bus to take a phone call. The driver storms down the aisle and asks why we’re saving a seat and I explained. He starting yelling at me that he was not waiting and the bus was leaving as soon as it was full. At this point there were at least 7-8 seats still left and the tour wasn’t supposed to start for 15-20 mins. He woudl not let it go, kept yelling and told us to get off the bus. We did, along with a few others who were aghast at his behavior. We got on the third bus and ended up leaving before the other one. Complete lack of people and customer service skills. We canceled a second tour we had with this company a couple of days later.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing technical issues with the onboard audio and video system can be, as they are an important part of the Sound of Music tour experience. However, we would like to clarify one important point regarding your description of the incident. According to our records and the statements from those involved, no guide shouted at any guest. Our guides and drivers are instructed to maintain a professional and respectful attitude at all times. The departure process can occasionally require quick decisions to ensure tours operate on schedule, but we regret if the communication came across differently. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to improve both our service and our guests' experience. We are sorry that you decided to cancel your second tour and hope you were still able to enjoy your time in Salzburg.
The best trip I have ever been on. Loved every minute with Connor as our guide. The whole bus had fun and enjoyed all his knowledge of The Sound of Music. Thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that this was the best trip you’ve ever been on and that you enjoyed every minute with Connor as your guide. It’s wonderful to know that the whole group had fun and appreciated his knowledge of The Sound of Music. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we hope to welcome you on another tour again in the future!
We took the tour led by April and had an absolutely brilliant time. I was curious how four hours would be spent on this tour but it was well paced and informative. We even got a bit of singing in between stops and April has a fantastic voice. Highly recommend. I would also add that we had originally booked todo this tour in November and had to cancel due to a bereavement. Panorama Tours were brilliant and refunded us with no questions asked, and no need to submit evidence.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your heartfelt feedback. We’re truly delighted you enjoyed the tour with April and that the pacing, information, and sing-alongs made it such a memorable experience. We also appreciate your kind mention of our team’s support during your change of plans it means a great deal to us. Warm regards, Your Salzburg Panorama Tours Team
We travel all over the world and have been on many private tours, several booked through Viator. While the sights of Salzburg were lovely and the history was very interesting, the beauty of our setting was tarnished by the attitude of our tour guide, Leopold. Right from the outset he seemed crabby and cantankerous. We had requested hotel pickup from Viator, and we were in the lobby at the stated start time. I had been expecting someone named Elisabeth since she had contacted me a few times prior to the tour. We were waiting near the checkin desk and central atrium for several minutes for our guide, and didn’t see anyone. We even went outside to see if they may be waiting there. Finally we went to the front desk to ask if they had seen any guides, and they pointed to Leopold. He was sitting on the side of the lobby in a leather chair near other guests waiting to check in. He was not wearing anything distinctive from Panorama tours, so he blended in with all of the other guests - there is no way we would have known who he was. Instead of being friendly upon seeing us, he admonished us and told us he was just about to leave because he had been waiting for “so long” (by the time we found him only 7 minutes had passed since the official start time of the tour). He did not seem to think it was his responsibility to find us in the lobby, or to wait in a visible spot. We told him that we had thought our tour was with Elisabeth and had been looking for her, and his response was “oh if you want Elisabeth instead we can change guides”. We thought that was a bit odd but of course we said no problem, we just hadn’t known to look for him. We thought he would brush it off, but he kept mentioning the wait for us as we walked to the car, and when I mentioned we had actually been waiting for him near the hotel doors at the start time, he said “well, I was also waiting for 20 minutes so let’s get going”. It was not a good start and left a bitter taste in our mouths. Despite our disappointment in this negative start, we were willing to put it behind us, but there were other flares of arrogance, rudeness, annoyance and racist overtones during the 2 hour tour. Initially Leopold asked if we were American based on our accents, and we told him we were Canadian. He then said, “oh but you must originally be from India, are you American Indians or Spicy Indians?”. My husband was confused, and told him he wasn’t sure what he meant. Leopold said “you know, are you like those Indians that only eat spicy food?”. My husband responded that Canada is very multicultural and that we eat all kinds of food. So, the tone continued to be uncomfortable. Leopold did give us good information and history about Salzburg, but showed lack of patience. When my daughter asked him to repeat something because she didn’t quite understand what he had said, he mocked her. It was really quite shocking. Near the end of the tour we asked whether he could drop us off near Mirabell gardens on the way to the hotel, and he mentioned us a route we could take to walk back. My husband mentioned the concierge had also mentioned that route, and Leopold said “oh the concierge told you that, but you think I am telling you bull$hit?” Completely inappropriate behavior especially in the presence of a child. It was pretty upsetting and spoiled our whole afternoon in Salzburg. Overall Salzburg is a lovely city with great sights, but we were just unlucky with the guide we were assigned to. The trip was unfortunately tarnished by Leopold’s brash personality. Probably time to retire!
Thank you very much for booking our tour and for taking the time to share your impressions with us. We very much regret the behavior of our tour guide and would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience caused. The individual remarks are unforgivable and do not correspond to our company philosophy. We have of course also spoken to the guide and he also regrets his behavior. We hope that you will still have fond memories of Salzburg and would be delighted to welcome you back soon!
Great afternoon visiting various places used during the filming of the sound of music. Tour guide was very informative
We're excited to hear that you had such a great time! Thank you for your kind words.
Our guide Helenka was extremely knowledgable, thorough, kind and enthusiastic throughout the day. Breakfast at Schloss Leopoldskron was such a wonderful way to begin a day celebrating a film that is such a part of so many lives and the day continued to exceed our expectations and make us feel as though we 'lived' the film. Thank you.
Thank you for your time writing us your wonderful review, we are happy that you enjoyed your "Sound of Music Day" and hope to welcome you back soon in Salzburg !!
While expensive this private tour provided so much more than the "bus tour" this company also provides. If you can afford this I highly recommend.
