Piazza Bra is het centrum van het sociale leven in Verona. Het plein wordt over het hoofd gezien door de majestueuze Arena en door Palazzo Barbieri, het stadhuis. Vanaf daar is het ook mogelijk om het Palazzo Gran Guardia en het Museo Lapidario te zien.
Dit ongelooflijke Romeinse amfitheater werd gebouwd in de 1e eeuw na Christus. De naam "arena" verwijst naar het zand dat het podium bedekte waar de gladiatoren vochten. Tegenwoordig wordt het nog steeds gebruikt voor openbare shows en concerten.
Herb's Square is het oude Romeinse forum van de stad. In het midden van het plein zie je de fontein van Madonna Verona, een monument dat de stad voorstelt als een mooie vrouw. Tegenwoordig is het plein een belangrijke ontmoetingsplaats voor de lokale bevolking, oud en jong.
Juliet’s House is een must-see voor alle bezoekers van de stad die de romantische kant van Verona willen zien. Dit torenhuis dateert uit het einde van de 13e eeuw en toont een bas-reliëf van een hoed die volgens de traditie het wapen is van de familie Capulet. We stoppen buiten in de tuin, zonder naar binnen te gaan.
Piazza dei Signori, ook wel Piazza Dante genoemd, vanwege het standbeeld gewijd aan de belangrijkste Italiaanse dichter, wordt omlijst door verschillende belangrijke gebouwen, zoals het Palazzo della Ragione en het Palazzo Podestà. Hier neemt u afscheid van uw gids.

This was a brilliant tour. Alessandro was so knowledgeable and he is clearly passionate about his home city. It really was the perfect way to familiarise us with the Verona. We did the 10.30am tour and were finished by lunchtime. Alessandro was really good at pointing out great places to eat and drink. One to which we returned after the tour and had the best focaccia pizza ever. Would highly recommend this tour. Thanks!
Unfortunately we took an evening tour, (in addition, the tour was postponed 1h from 17.30 to 18.30) and all the cozy and nice places we saw and got tips about were closed when we were done with the tour. Super nice guide that I forgot the name of.

Alessandro is SUPERB--I've been on many guided tours throughout Italy and this may have been the very best. He's deeply knowledgeable, articulate (with easy to understand English), and just solid in every way. Through the entire tour he wove together fascinating history of this city with countless recommendations of restaurants and gelateria. He truly helped us fall in love with Verona. If we were here longer we'd take his food & wine tour for sure.
