Stap voorbij de gebruikelijke steden en ontdek Lukomir, het laatste traditionele Bosnische nomadendorp, waar het leven nog steeds de eeuwenlang doorgegeven gebruiken volgt. Gelegen op 1.495 meter boven de zeespiegel, is het het hoogst bewoonde dorp in Bosnië en Herzegovina, omgeven door een prachtig berglandschap en uitzicht over de Rakitnica Canyon. Onderweg passeer je het rustige dorpje Umoljani en zie je Studeni Potok, een unieke beek die als een slang door het landschap kronkelt. In Lukomir geniet u van een zelfgemaakte lunch met een lokale familie, waarbij u authentieke traditionele gerechten proeft, waaronder vegetarische opties. In de winter wordt de ervaring, indien mogelijk, nog specialer met een sneeuwschoenwandelavontuur door de besneeuwde bergen. Deze tour gaat niet alleen over de natuur, maar over het ontmoeten van lokale mensen en het ervaren van een manier van leven die nog steeds voortleeft in de Bosnische hooglanden.

Een 200 jaar oude moskee in Umoljani is een van de nationale monumenten van Bosnië en Herzegovina. Moskee had de turbulente geschiedenis van het land overleefd en bewaart zeer oude Ottomaanse grafstenen. In de buurt van de moskee is een middeleeuwse necropolis die ook wordt bezocht.
Wandelpad loopt langs Studeni Potok. Studeni Potok (Studeni Potok) is een intermitterende stroom (klasse H - Hydrografisch) in de Federatie van Bosnië en Herzegovina, Bosnië en Herzegovina (Europa) met de regiolettercode van Oost-Europa. Het ligt op een hoogte van 949 meter boven zeeniveau.
Lukomir is het hoogste en meest geïsoleerde bergdorp van Bosnië. Lukomir is als een levend etnologisch museum, waar de gewoonten van nomadische stammen en Dinarische hooglanders nog steeds worden beoefend. Het is interessant om zijn unieke stenen huizen met kersenhouten dakpannen. Inderdaad, toegang tot het dorp is onmogelijk vanaf de eerste sneeuw in december tot eind april en soms zelfs later, behalve met ski's of te voet. Een nieuw gebouwde lodge is nu compleet om gasten te ontvangen. Vanaf daar kunt u prachtige wandelingen maken in het gebied langs de bergkam van de Rakitnica Canyon.
Een van de langste stromen die door zijn dwaze stroom een prachtige natuurkunst heeft gemaakt in de kloof tussen de bergen, die eruitziet als een slang. Er is een zeer opwindende legende over dit wezen, die je tijdens je tour zult horen.
Onze wandeling naar Lukomir vindt plaats aan de rand van de Rakitnica-kloof. De Rakitnica-rivier, een van de grootste zijrivieren van de diepe Neretva-rivier, heeft een grotendeels ontoegankelijke, 26 kilometer lange en ongelooflijk mooie kloof tussen de bergen Bjelašnica en Visočica uitgehouwen. Rakitnica Canyon is een van de diepste canyons van Europa en dit werkelijk natuurlijke wonder ligt op slechts 30 kilometer van Sarajevo. De bovenloop van de kloof bevindt zich op 1120 meter boven zeeniveau en de samenvloeiing van de Rakitnica en Neretva ligt op 320 meter boven de zeespiegel. Dankzij zijn unieke schoonheid en ontoegankelijkheid is Rakitnica Canyon een echte uitdaging voor bergbeklimmers, rafters, vissers en iedereen die van wilde en ongerepte natuur houdt.
Na de voltooide wandeling is er daarna terugkeer naar Umoljani en Sarajevo waarvoor op aanvraag een auto kan worden verstrekt. In Sarajevo wordt u naar uw afleverlocatie gebracht.

Super beautiful hike and very knowledgeable hike, definitely the best thing I did in sarajevo
This is an amazing excursion right outside of Sarajevo to see one of the most remote villages in Bosnia. Our guide, Adi, was incredible and helped us out so much. He came prepared with everything— facts, hiking poles, snacks, even a pair of socks for me when mine kept slipping off my ankles, saving me some blisters! The hike itself was moderate difficulty and long, but plenty of breaks were provided as needed. Plus, the village and lunch are at the half way point! Highly recommend this unique experience! Even I, who am scared of heights, made it okay :)
The tour was very well organised and on the day this was executed faultlessly. The journey to Srebrenica was already filled with an emotional feeling and the journey was narrated beautifully by our guide Agan. He explained the political backdrop of the country simply and clearly and also talked of his personal experience during the war which made us all feel privileged to have someone who could describe the impossible situation the people of Bosnia faced. We were all very moved and would highly recommend this trip. If you are lucky, you may even be fortunate enough to have Agan as your tour guide!
There were 8 people on my tour and this hike was by far my favourite thing I did while in Bosnia. My tour guide was Adi, and he was a great leader of the hike, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to about anything. He was also very patient with the varying levels of hiking experience on our group. I would highly recommend this tour, it is not one to miss!

Excellent hiking tour from Sarajevo to picturesque village Lukomir on the mountain Bjelašnica. It was very easy to book it directly with Meet Bosnia agency. Our tour guide, Ahmed, was fantastic. I would highly recommend this tour for all that like nature and hiking.
We absolutely loved this tour. We had a group of 16 with two wonderful guides, Ahmed and Christian. The scenery and wildflowers were stunning! I highly recommend this as it was one of the most fun and memorable hikes of my life! My tips: bring plenty of water and some snacks. You can refill your water at the village The trail is uneven in many areas so wear decent shoes The trail is not technical, but it’s not easy either. Out of our group of 16, 1 decided not to go soon after we started and 2 got a ride down from the top from a villager. They can’t guarantee rides, though, so you have to be prepared to do the whole 10 miles
I went on the Lukomir day hike with Meet Bosnia, and it was absolutely wonderful. The scenery was beautiful, everything was very well organized, and it was one of the highlights of my time in Bosnia. Our guide, Sahin, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared so much information about the landscape, Bosnian history, and the village of Lukomir itself. When the restaurant he normally takes guests to was closed, he went out of his way to find another place for us to eat and even treated the group to Bosnian coffee. He was an absolute delight throughout the day. Sahin also translated for us while we purchased beautiful knitted goods from the local women, which made the experience even more special. During the hike, he made sure no one felt rushed, took breaks when needed, and always made sure everyone was doing well and staying together. His kindness, good humor, and attention to everyone in the group really made the day memorable. As a lovely extra touch, Sahin created a WhatsApp group after the trip so that everyone could share photos. We had taken so many pictures of one another throughout the day, and since none of us knew each other beforehand, it was a wonderful way to exchange memories and stay connected. It was such a thoughtful gesture and just one more example of how he went above and beyond to make the experience special. This was my second tour with Meet Bosnia, and I really cannot recommend them enough. I did another tour with a different company during my stay, and while it was enjoyable, it simply didn’t meet the same high standards that Meet Bosnia consistently delivers. I say all of this with absolutely no incentive to do so—I just want other travelers to know how exceptional my experiences have been. From the quality of the tours to the warmth and professionalism of the guides, Meet Bosnia has been outstanding, and I would not hesitate to book with them again.
the tour was so amazing, and I had such a lovely time! we were really blessed with a great guide (ahmed) and an awesome group, which made the experience even better. the hike itself is relatively easy, but there's definitely a lot of walking and a few steep sections, so it's good to have a decent level of stamina. having said that, I would highly recommend this tour; it was an unforgettable experience! 😊
We had a fantastic day on the tour. Ahmed was our guide and he was very kind and helpful! We started the day around 8/8:30 and drove about an hour up to our hiking starting point. We then had some Bosnian coffee before starting our journey! The hike to the village was gorgeous. It was about a 4-5 mile hike there and then we came back the same way for a round trip of around 10 miles. The hike itself was pretty challenging with numerous inclines and going up and down rocks, which could be steep at some points. I would highly recommend you wear appropriate clothing and shoes and bring lots of water and some snacks. We arrived at the village around 12-1pm and had an amazing lunch that we paid for individually. After lunch we had time to explore the village before heading back. I would expect to get back to your stay closer to 6. Would highly recommend the tour and would do again :)
