Mariam, de dochter van koning Ashot I, beloofde 30 kerken te bouwen ter ere van haar overleden echtgenoot. Ze hield haar belofte haar hele leven. Een daarvan, Sevanavank, werd gebouwd in 874. Sevanavank werd gesticht in de 4e eeuw en beleefde zijn ontwikkeling in de 9e eeuw. Naast de twee staande kerken verdient de unieke khachkar uit de 17e eeuw, met zijn vele Bijbelse taferelen, speciale aandacht. De naam van de hoofdstad, Jerevan, werd voor het eerst vastgelegd op de koepel van Sevanavank.
Een winterwonderland. Tsaghkadzor verandert in een winterwonderland wanneer sneeuw het landschap bedekt. Skiliefhebbers verheugen zich op de goed uitgeruste hellingen van de berg Teghenis, met pistes voor alle niveaus. Snowboarden, sleeën en sneeuwscooteren zijn ook populaire activiteiten, die zorgen voor eindeloos winterpret.
Genesteld te midden van de pittoreske bergen van Tsaghkadzor, Armenië, ligt het oude Kecharis-klooster, een UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie en een bewijs van het rijke culturele en religieuze erfgoed van het land. Kecharis dateert uit de 11e en 13e eeuw en was niet alleen een plaats van aanbidding; het was een bloeiend centrum van leren en onderwijs. Het kloostercomplex omvat verschillende verbluffende bouwwerken, die elk verhalen uit een vervlogen tijdperk fluisteren:
Hoog boven het charmante stadje Tsaghkadzor, Armenië, ligt de Tsaghkadzor-kabelbaan, meer dan alleen een transportmiddel; het is een toegangspoort tot adembenemende panorama's en opwindende avonturen. De Tsaghkadzor-kabelbaan, ingehuldigd in 1967, neemt je mee op een reis van 32 minuten langs de oostelijke hellingen van de berg Teghenis. Stel je voor dat je moeiteloos tussen torenhoge dennen en tapijten van wilde bloemen zweeft, terwijl de frisse berglucht je zintuigen stimuleert terwijl de vallei zich onder je ontvouwt als een levendig tapijt.

Absolutely fantastic tour! I highly recommend it, especially if you're visiting during the winter and want to experience some snow. The tour began at Lake Sevan and included a stop at a monastery (I can’t remember the name) where you’ll need to climb 200 stairs, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. If you prefer to spend more time in Tsaghkadzor, I’d suggest booking a private tour instead. With this group tour, you’ll only have about an hour and a half to explore the winter wonderland.

I had an amazing time on the tour. Our guide, Hasmik, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. She provided excellent explanations of the attractions and made the experience even better. Norik, our driver, was great as well, always punctual and made sure we felt safe throughout the trip. The bus was spacious, comfortably fitting 10-12 passengers. The attractions they selected were top-notch, and I’d highly recommend this tour to everyone.
