Tunnelmuseum : Bosnische & Joegoslavische Oorlogstour met oorlogsveteraan

Ga mee met een gecertificeerde officiële Gids op een 4 uur durende reis om de vernietiging en redding van Sarajevo te begrijpen. Verken Sarajevo's belangrijkste locaties, waaronder Sniper alley en War Tunnel Museum - de levenslijn van "het grootste concentratiekamp" ter wereld. Panorama vanaf de Trebevic Berg en het betreden van verwoest hotel-restaurant Eight zorgt voor een unieke ervaring. Zie een van de soort Joodse begraafplaatsen die qua grootte op de tweede plaats staat in Europa, net voor een in Praag. Ervaar Sarajevo vanaf het Gele bastion en breng hulde aan gesneuvelde soldaten en de eerste Bosnische president die begraven ligt op Martyr Cemetery.

Het startpunt is aan de voorzijde van het Info Bosnia Tourist Information Center in het belangrijkste voetgangersgebied Ferhadija, vlak naast 'Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures'. Na de inleiding neemt de gids de gasten mee naar het vervoer en start de tour. Onderweg (25-30 minuten) geven we een korte inleiding over het oorlogsthema en tonen we belangrijke locaties en gebouwen die later te zien zijn in de korte film die in het Oorlogstunnelmuseum wordt getoond (we hebben enkele locaties in de beschrijving vermeld, maar er zijn veel meer locaties waar we uitleg over geven).
De bloedbaden op de Markale-markt waren twee aparte bombardementen die werden uitgevoerd door het leger van de Republiek van Srpska. Ze waren gericht op burgers tijdens het beleg van Sarajevo in de Bosnische oorlog.
De eeuwige vlam is een monument voor de militaire en civiele slachtoffers van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Sarajevo, Bosnië en Herzegovina. Het monument werd ingewijd op 6 april 1946, de eerste verjaardag van de bevrijding van Sarajevo na de vierjarige bezetting door Nazi-Duitsland en de fascistische onafhankelijke staat Kroatië.
'Sniper Alley' is de informele naam voor de straten Zmaja od Bosne Street en Meša Selimović Boulevard, de belangrijkste boulevard in Sarajevo die tijdens de Bosnische oorlog vol met sluipschuttersposten zat, en die berucht werd als gevaarlijke oversteekplek voor burgers. De weg verbindt het industriële deel van de stad (en nog verder de luchthaven van Sarajevo en de Tunnel of Hope) met de culturele en historische locaties van de oude stad. De boulevard zelf heeft veel hoogbouw die scherpschutters een uitgebreid schietbereik gaf.
Het museum is een culturele en wetenschappelijke instelling die een breed scala van gebieden zoals archeologie, kunstgeschiedenis, volkenkunde, geografie, geschiedenis en natuurlijke geschiedenis beslaat. De Sarajevo Haggadah, een schitterend versierd manuscript en het oudste Sefardisch-Joodse document ter wereld dat is uitgegeven in Barcelona rond 1350, met daarin de traditionele Joodse Haggadah, is te vinden in dit museum.
Bij aankomst in het Oorlogstunnelmuseum geven we uitleg over de positie van het museum en het beroemde monument voor de ingang, genaamd 'Sarajevo Rose'. Na het bekijken van de korte film begint een presentatie van een uur met uitleg over de val van Joegoslavië, de oorlog in Slovenië, Kroatië, Bosnië en Herzegovina en de totstandkoming en het belang van de tunnel.
Na de Tunnel gaan we richting Olympische berg Trebević 84, de dichtstbijzijnde berg naar het centrum van Sarajevo en een eerste lijn tijdens het Beleg van Sarajevo. Op de site hebben we de mogelijkheid om hotelrestaurant "8" te zien en erop te lopen en de mooiste panoramische uitzichten van Sarajevo te ervaren, wat helaas de belangrijkste posities van het vijandelijke leger zijn.
Aan de voet van de berg Trebević ligt de op een na grootste Joodse begraafplaats in Europa. De begraafplaats bevat uniek gevormd grafstenen die alleen te zien zijn in Bosnië en Herzegovina. Naar verluidt is de vorm beïnvloed door middeleeuwse Bosnische grafstenen die 'Stećak' heten.
Van de Joodse begraafplaats gaan we op weg naar het oude Ottomaanse deel van de stad voor een bezoek aan het Gele Fort, vanwaar we het soldatenkerkhof en de rustplaats van de eerste Bosnische president bekijken.

We had an impressive tour with Adnan. He himself was in the army during the siege of Sarajevo. This made his story even more alive. Adnan took all the time to answer our questions. Actually, this tour is a must if you are visiting Sarajevo.
The guide is a local expert and war veteran. He can answer all of your questions about the siege. It’s also nice to see places outside of the city.
It was truly an intense experience. Samir is a wonderful guide, not only for how he narrates the facts, but especially for the humanity he manages to convey.
