We zullen ons avontuur beginnen. Onze eerste stop na enkele minuten rijden is de zoutmijnen van Maras Lookout Point, voor geweldige uitzichten en foto's. De zoutmijnen vertonen een bizar spektakel van schoonheid, gelegen op een wijdopen heuvel boven de Urubamba-vallei, een natuurlijke zoutwaterstroom die ondergronds loopt. In de pre-Inca-tijden hebben ze het zoute water uit deze stroom verdampt om het zout te verkrijgen dat achterblijft.
Na een bezoek aan de zoutmijnen bij Maras, gaan we verder op een korte afstand naar de ruïnes van Moray. De ruines zijn samengesteld uit drie coliseums, waarvan wordt gedacht dat ze door de Inca's zijn gebruikt als een soort openluchtoogstlaboratorium. Deze plaats werd door de Inca's gebruikt om de effecten van verschillende klimatologische omstandigheden op gewassen te bestuderen. De terrassen zijn in concentrische cirkels gerangschikt en doen denken aan een oud Grieks theater.

Everything was so smooth from landing in Cusco all the way through the end of the trip. Roland was a fantastic guide...friendly, knowledgeable, timely, and prepared. Everywhere we went he had tickets ready for us, the transportation waiting outside and went above and beyond to accommodate our groups' needs. Raul, who drove us everywhere was also super friendly, outgoing and a great driver! He got us everywhere safely and took side roads when needed to cut down on drive time. I really enjoyed the hangtime with both Roland and Raul, the activities, the meals, the lodging....all of it was great! Go to Peru and hope that you get Roland and Raul to take care of you the whole trip!!
It was such an amazing trip! Our guide Roland was an amazing person with a positive upbeat attitude and so knowledgeable about everything we did. Our driver kept us safe and was always on time with a clean vehicle. This is one of the best trips of my life, and I would highly recommend it. I would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you so much. Amazing experience. I learned so much about this community and their process in salt making, which I always thought came from the oceans and seas! Alejandro was a gracious and patient host instructing us on how to shape the salt. Then offering us tastings of the different salts. I can’t wait to try the smoked one back home on everything!
Great tour! I would recommend this to others. Learning about the Maras salt mines and the Moray site was absolutely fascinating.
Wow this was one of my favorite days on the trip! Small group, and our guide had so many details we wouldn’t have gotten had we just visited ourselves. Most importantly, we got to visit with one of the local families with a share in the salt mines. He and his wife showed us how to carve salt into little shapes. I never thought I’d do something so cool and hands-on. Definitely an experience I won’t forget!

Able is a very knowledge guide and very professional demeanor. He used his archaeology background to provide an indepth explanation of the sites. I really enjoyed being part of his tour group of the salt mines.
