Onze Taormina en Castelmola Tour vanuit de cruisehavens van Messina en Catania is een unieke eendaagse excursie aan wal, waarbij twee van de meest charmante bestemmingen van Sicilië in alle comfort worden getoond. Taormina staat bekend om zijn adembenemende panoramische uitzichten over de zee. U zult genieten van een schilderachtige stop bij de kerk Madonna della Rocca voordat u doorgaat naar Castelmola, een rustig dorpje op een heuveltop met een prachtig uitzicht. Terug in Taormina heb je vrije tijd om hoogtepunten te verkennen, zoals het Griekse theater, de kathedraal en Palazzo Corvaja, of gewoon genieten van de levendige straten en winkels. Er wordt ook tijd voor de lunch toegewezen. Aan het einde van de tour wordt u comfortabel teruggebracht naar uw oorspronkelijke ophaalpunt.

Allereerst stoppen we bij het uitkijkpunt net boven het Isola Bella, genaamd Belvedere, met adembenemende uitzichten. Het is de ideale locatie om de kustlijn en het fantastische Isola Bella te bewonderen en te fotograferen.
Naarmate onze reis vordert, rijden we naar het charmante middeleeuwse dorpje Castelmola. Dit slaperige stadje ligt gevaarlijk boven Taormina. Een wandeling rond is een must, met zijn koele middeleeuwse steegjes en pittoreske piazza met een indrukwekkend uitzicht over het hele landschap, de Etna en de Ionische kustlijn.
We stoppen bij de beroemde Bar Turrisi. Deze pub, gelegen op een hoge heuveltop in de buurt van Taormina, ziet er van buiten erg mooi uit, met zijn vele balkons en karmozijnrode parasols die tot aan de hemel reiken. Zodra u echter de handgreep van de zijdeur vastpakt, realiseert u zich dat deze taverne een beetje uniek is onder de Siciliaanse etablissementen. Je kunt voor de amandelwijn betalen en ook eten.
Madonna Della Rocca is een 15e-eeuwse kerk die uit een berg is uitgehouwen. Gelegen net onder het Saracenenkasteel kunt u genieten van een buitengewoon panoramisch uitzicht op Taormina en het Griekse theater.
Bij aankomst in het centrum van Taormina heeft u vrije tijd om door de historische Corso Umberto te dwalen. Dit is de belangrijkste promenade door het hart van Taormina, met elegante designerwinkels en leuke cafés en restaurants

Het Palazzo Corvaja in Taormina is een middeleeuws paleis dat werd gebouwd in de tiende eeuw. Het vroege Arabische fort, gebouwd op Romeinse fundamenten, maakt deel uit van de geschiedenis van het palazzo. De centrale structuur is een toren in islamitische stijl, met boogramen en ingangen die de islamitische invloed op de binnenplaats aangeven. Er is een sierlijk balkon met uitzicht op de binnenplaats en een trap uit de 13e eeuw die naar de eerste verdieping leidt. Het Moors-gotische paleis heeft kantelen en is verdeeld over vier hoofdverdiepingen rondom een binnenplaats. De begane grond is voorzien van kolommen die paren lancetvensters scheiden voor vensters. Reliëfs die De Schepping uitbeelden sieren de muren van de binnenplaats. Het palazzo is nu een centrum voor tentoonstellingen waar je foto's kunt maken.
Oude middeleeuwse katholieke kerk met sierlijke beelden en een enorm gewelfd plafond. U kunt foto's maken van de structuur.

In de haven van Messina halen we direct op van de pier. In de haven van Catania halen we direct op bij de uitgang van de terminal. We had a wonderful day in Tamina with our guide Eduardo who could not have been better. He met us at the cruise port in beautiful car and gave us an excellent tour with lots of information and anecdotes. We visited Giardini Naxos, castelmola where Eduardo introduced us to the excellent masala wine and then on to Taormina. The day could not have been better!

Leonardo & Eduardo were our drivers and they were great ! We ended up doing an adjusted version of this private tour, as half our group wanted to check out a nearby beach instead of Castelmola. We worked with them to figure out an itinerary that would work and they were very accommodating. If you’re thinking about whether to book a private tour or do it by yourself, definitely worth the money to book this tour ! We didn’t have to worry about the logistics or how to get from one place to another.

When first contacting Excursions Sicily Irina, immediately replied with information that we had requested and was very helpful and flexible in order to meet our needs. We ended up booking our tour with this company due to her professionalism and her flexibility and truely listen to our requests.
