Maak kennis met je gids, Omari, die gepassioneerd is over het behoud van de mangroven rond dit gebied dat hij zijn thuis noemt. Hij heeft ongelooflijke kennis over de verschillende vogelsoorten in het gebied. Vaar door de wateren, ontmoet de dorpsbewoners en zie hoe de zon ondergaat boven de mangrovekreken. Deze ervaring is de ultieme manier om te ontspannen terwijl de zon ondergaat. Gecreëerde impact: + Ondersteuning van een verborgen juweeltje: deze plek ligt buiten de gebaande paden, maar toch wordt het omringd door een aantal dorpen die voor inkomsten afhankelijk zijn van het gebied. + Lokale werkgelegenheid: de kano wordt lokaal ingehuurd en dat geldt ook voor de kapitein. Dit versterkt de lokale gemeenschap, maar is ook geweldig voor de reiziger die kan profiteren van een enorme kennis over de plaats. + Geen motoren: de kano wordt aangedreven door menselijke energie (de kapitein roeit en dat kan als je wilt!) Wat betekent dat er geen motoren en geen vuile dampen in het water terechtkomen. + Gemeenschap: het geld van deze reis zal naar de gemeenschap sijpelen ter ondersteuning van gezondheidszorg, werkgelegenheid en onderwijs.

Omari was very knowledgeable about the animals around the kongo river, we learned so much about the ecosystem and history. He was also very accommodating, patient, gave us the best views for photos and taught us the Kenya welcome song. Kongo river is a must visit in Diani and the sunset is especially beautiful.

This is a very mellow canoe trip. Our guide was great. It’s a slow trip up the river and back down. Time to view and listen to the wildlife - lots or birds and bush babies. We could also hear traditional music and singing if a celebration in the woods. It was a nice evening.

Omari was an amazing captain/guide on the canoe tour! He has a lot of knowledge about everything there is to know about the mangroves, the different species of birds, monkeys, etc. The unfortunate part was that it was a rainy day so the sunset wasn’t too amazing but we still got lucky with a little sunset which was great! I highly recommend this tour as it is almost like a meditation trip in itself.

The experience was amazing from the beginning to the end. Sham was kind and shared a lot about Travel4Purpose's mission to give back to society. We had a calming, almost meditative sail in the Kongo Strait where we spotted different kinds of mangrove trees and a variety of bird species. Our guide, Omar, was very informative and intentional about how he wanted us to enjoy. The sunset was so amazing that no one wanted to leave. Very pleasant boat tour on the Congo River. We saw some birds, crabs, and lungfish, and Omari explained everything expertly. The sunset was the most beautiful part 🌅 We took a Tuk-Tuk from the hotel (be sure to negotiate beforehand, as the drivers otherwise demand excessively high prices). It was our last day of vacation, making it a wonderful conclusion. Highly recommended.
