Onze tour is echt uniek omdat het diep geworteld is in de lokale gemeenschap en gericht is op behoud. Elk aspect van de ervaring wordt gedreven door de lokale bevolking - van onze chauffeurs en gastheren tot de chef-koks die uw verse, heerlijke maaltijden bereiden. Door bij ons te boeken, steun je direct het levensonderhoud van de Shimoni en Wasini Island gemeenschappen. Daarnaast gaat een deel van de opbrengst van uw boeking naar Shimoni Turtle Watch, een lokale natuurbeschermingsgroep die zich inzet voor de bescherming van zeeschildpadden, zodat uw bezoek bijdraagt aan het behoud van het zeeleven. De tour legt ook de nadruk op respectvolle interactie met zeedieren, zodat u kunt genieten van de prachtige koraalriffen, dolfijnen en andere zeedieren zonder het ecosysteem te schaden. Begin uw dag met onze vertrouwde lokale chauffeur, die u in de vroege ochtend van uw hotel ophaalt. Terwijl u door het prachtige kustlandschap reist, geniet u van uitzicht op charmante eigendommen en weelderige palmplantages. Aangekomen rond 8:00 uur, stap je aan boord van een boot (type is afhankelijk van de boekingen van de dag) om langs het prachtige Wasini-kanaal te varen. De dag biedt de perfecte balans tussen ontspanning en verkenning, te beginnen met snorkelen in Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. Hier heb je de kans om dolfijnen te spotten (95% kans), levendig zeeleven en misschien zelfs zeeschildpadden!
Na het genieten van de levendige onderwaterwereld maken we een korte tour door Mkwiro Village op Wasini Island. Dit is een kans om te leren over het leven op het eiland en verbinding te maken met de gemeenschap. Als je kleine donaties hebt, zoals boeken, maandverband of voorzichtig gebruikte kleding, worden ze hartelijk ontvangen door lokale families. Na het dorpsbezoek gaan we terug naar Shimoni voor een heerlijke Swahili lunch. De maaltijd wordt bereid door lokale vrouwen, waardoor u de kans krijgt om hun werk te ondersteunen terwijl u geniet van de rijke smaken van de authentieke kustkeuken.
Tot slot bezoekt u de Shimoni Slave Caves, een historische site die door de gemeenschap wordt beheerd. Hier leer je over de donkere geschiedenis van de slavenhandel en de afschaffing ervan, terwijl je een zinvol lokaal initiatief ondersteunt. Door deel te nemen aan deze tour geniet je niet alleen van een onvergetelijke ervaring, maar draag je ook direct bij aan de gemeenschappen van Wasini en Shimoni.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Andere pick-up gebieden zijn niet vermeld, stuurt u uw adres en afspraken worden gedaan. Ophalen begint tussen ongeveer 06:45 en 07:00 uur vanaf het strand van Diani. Vertrek naar het marine park is afhankelijk van de ticketverwerking door de Kenya Wildlife Service. Keer terug naar het oorspronkelijke punt waar je 's ochtends werd geplukt. Ophalen bij Mombasa begint om 5u30. Houd er rekening mee dat ophalen afhankelijk is van het aantal gasten op die dag — soms zijn er niet genoeg gasten om een ophaling bij Mombasa te organiseren. In dergelijke gevallen zullen wij u vooraf informeren en adviseren over alternatieve regelingen.

100% recommend going snorkelling with Omar and his team. Everything was very simple and professional from the first point of contact. Communication was great. Our pick-up driver, Mohammed was punctual and friendly and told us lots about the local area as we drove to the snorkelling meeting spot. Omar and Hussain we amazing on the day too. Very informative and gave us a full briefing before heading out on the boat. I have never felt so safe on a snorkelling trip! Usually we're just told to jump in and left to it, but Omar and Hussain were with us in the water, constantly ensuring our safety but not encroaching on our personal time or space as a family. They even had a Go-Pro and took videos of us in the water. If there was something we saw that we liked, they captured it for us so we didn't need to worry about using phones or cameras, just enjoying the experience in real time. Omar sent all the videos to us after the trip - amazing! We had the pleasure of visiting a local village which I would urge everyone to do. Seeing real Kenyan village life is extremely humbling and this particular village is very special to Omar, it's clear to see his passion for wanting to make a difference here. If you are going on this trip, please think about taking something small, be it sweets, books, shoes or simple clothing (new or used) for the children and community. It will warm your heart to see how happy these simple things make them. After the trip we all had lunch together and talked about our adventures. The food was plentiful and tasty. Thank you for the absolutely special and extraordinary day me and my friends had in the Marine National Park!! :) We had the opportunity to visit there almost the whole day and really was a compared low price, me and my friends are students and could afford, so its approved from that point too. :) Special thanks are going to Omar, we had such a great funny talk and I learned so much from him, so thank you Omar that you had us on your boat. :) At the end of the trip everybody was singing songs in the languages of all the visitors, that was such a funny place on the boat there. :D We were not too many people, had an easy time chatting with everyone during the ride. And then everybody was so excited when we first time saw the dolphins, so beautiful creatures swimmimg towards us. It was the first time ever I saw one, just magical, so really thankfull to everybody involved. I hope to come again someday and can truely recomment to everybody, you will have a great experience and just the best conversations there!

Had a fantastic day with Omar and another solo traveler! Not only did we find the dolphins he filmed a great underwater video for us and managed to do the same with a sea turtle. Additionally he’s so nice, welcoming, and really knowledgeable and answered all our hard questions. His mom also made us lunch which was some of the best food I’ve had in Kenya so far.

We really loved this tour. We had plenty of time to snorkel and guides (Omar & Ali) were great at ensuring that anyone who was new to snorkelling or who was not the most confident of swimmers were comfortable & felt safe. Snorkelling highlights included seeing squid, octopus, puffer fish and a green turtle. The visit to Wasini Island was a deeply poignant experience. Lunch was amazing! We had a great experience, offered by a real local agency that is caring for its clients. From flow to end, everything was perfect! We were treated to our private boat, two great guides for a snorkeling that lasted 1h30 with a lot to see (octopus, squid, fish of all kinds and sea turtles!) We swam to a beautiful sandbar where a very nice fruit platter was offered! Then the visit to Wasini Island and the caves were very interesting! Not to mention the great Swahili meal we were able to enjoy at the end of the experience! Book without hesitation, even if you are new to snorkeling!

A wonderful excursion! Great communication. Pick up and drop off at our hotel in Tiwi. The entire team was extremely kind and informative. We saw a lot of dolphins and the snorkeling was great. Our guide pointed out octopus, squid, etc. I believe lunch was cooked and served by Omar’s mother. It was delicious and featured many local foods. The tour of the slave caves was very interesting and shined a light on a very dark time in Kenya’s history. The stop at the island was wonderful. The local children were happy, kind excited to talk with us. They are working hard on education and building classrooms. RECOMMENDATION: they would appreciate gently used school books that can be used to teach you children English. I wish we had known; we would have packed some in our suitcases.

This was such an authentic and amazing experience. Omar and his family are such good people and getting the opportunity to see them for who they truly are was one of a kind special experience. I was all over in different areas of Kenya for 12 days and his mom’s cooking was the best I had the entire time during my visit.
