Na een schilderachtige transfer naar Shimoni stapt u aan boord van een traditionele dhow of een fiber motorboot en cruiset u over de warme wateren van de Indische Oceaan. Transfer naar Shimoni: reis over de weg van Diani Beach naar Shimoni Village. Aankomst in Shimoni: bereik Shimoni Village en ga direct naar de Shimoni Jetty. Bootvertrek naar Kisite Marine Park: ga aan boord van een boot die vertrekt vanaf de Shimoni-steiger naar Kisite Marine Park. De Shimoni Slavengrotten, gelegen in de buurt van Shimoni dorp in Kenia, hebben een historische betekenis als een grimmige herinnering aan de Oost-Afrikaanse slavenhandel tijdperk. Hier is een beschrijving: Geschiedenis : De grotten werden gebruikt als wachtkamers voor tot slaaf gemaakte Afrikanen voordat ze in de 18e en 19e eeuw over de Indische Oceaan werden vervoerd. Structuur : De grotten bestaan uit onderling verbonden kamers en doorgangen die in het koraalgesteente zijn gegraven. Ze zijn smal, donker en van nature koel, wat ze geschikt maakte voor het vasthouden van grote aantallen gevangenen in afwachting van verzending. Doel : De gevangenen, voornamelijk gevangengenomen uit het binnenland van Oost-Afrika, werden hier in erbarmelijke omstandigheden vastgehouden alvorens naar slavenmarkten in Zanzibar en daarbuiten te worden vervoerd. Rondleidingen : Tegenwoordig kunnen bezoekers de grotten verkennen tijdens rondleidingen onder leiding van lokale gidsen die de geschiedenis en betekenis van de site uitleggen.

Awesome adventures does a truly wonderful day. The pickup was easy. The boat ride was stunning. The crew is knowledgeable and very kind. The food was amazing! One of the best meals we have had in Kenya. The snorkeling was great and soaking up the sun on the sand bar and riding the waves was really special. Our guide, Chaz, was very knowledgeable, kind and fun. The tour of the caves is both beautiful and deeply sad because of the history. Overall the best part of our trip to Kenya!

What an amazing experience! From the warm welcome by the crew to the breathtaking beauty of kisite marine park, everything was outstanding. We were fortunate to see dolphins in their nature habitat, and the snorkelling was unforgettable, with crystal-clear water and an incredible variety of colorful fish and coral. This was easy one of the highlights of our trip to kenya. We saw dolphins, enjoyed incredible snorkeling and spent the day surrounded by beautiful scenery. The crew was friendly, organised and always made sure everyone was comfortable. The seafood lunch on wasini island was was fresh and delicious. One of the best experience we've had in Kenya! The boat trip was smooth, the ocean was beautiful and we were fortunate to see dolphins in their natural habitat. The wasini dolphin tour was truly one of the most unforgettable experience I've ever had.from the moment we set off the boat, everything felt perfectly curated for relaxation and adventure. The crew was warm and welcoming, serving us fresh fruits and delicious snacks as we cruised along the stunning coastline- such a simple touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. Spotting dolphins in their natural habitat was absolutely magical. Watching them glide through the water so gracefully felt surreal and peaceful. The snorkeling session was another highlight-the spot was pristine, with crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life that made it feel like swimming in a living aquarium. After the ocean adventure, we got to unwind on the beach, soaking in the calm atmosphere and breathtaking views. It was the perfect way to relax and recharge. An unforgettable day at kisite Mpunguti! I was lucky to spot dolphins in their natural habitat such a magical experience. We had an absolutely amazing dolphin safari and snorkeling trip! From pickup to finish it was a fantastic experience. Our driver Chaka was such a nice person, from our pickup until he dropped us off back at the resort. He was informative, nice and caring. And hoped for us we’d see dolphin’s. Our guides, Shax and Mohammed, were incredibly enthusiastic and made the whole day even more special. They’re full of energy and passion, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had an AWESOME time. Because they wanted to show us as much as possible and to see as many dolphins as possible, they even decided to take a different route than usual. Thanks to that, we ended up seeing even more dolphins than expected, which was truly unforgettable! 4 families and we’ve even seen a newborn dolphin. You can’t see them on the photos as they’re on film and I can’t share that. We were absolutely spoiled throughout the trip with fresh fruit and drinks. Everything was very well organized and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. The lunch was absolutely delicious — I highly recommend choosing the seafood platter. It was fresh, tasty, and the perfect meal after snorkeling. After lunch we had a stroll thru the village and went to the caves where the cruelty of slavery happened. Such a beautiful place with an incredible amount of bats where so much cruelty has happened. All in all, the whole day was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. If you get the chance to go with Shax and Mohammed, you’re guaranteed to have an unforgettable day!
