Old Road is een oud vissersdorp. In dit gebied is een bekend visrestaurant, Sprat Net en een vismarkt. Op korte afstand rijdt uw gids van de hoofdweg af dicht bij een van de gezondheidscentra naar het gebied van Wingfield Estate. Je passeert de rotstekening van de indianen.
Terwijl je langs de Romney Batik (Caribelle Batik) rijdt, krijg je een kleine glimp van de tuinen op weg naar het bos. Op korte afstand van Romney begint u het pad van het bos te zien. Hier stapt u uit het voertuig en geeft de gids een briefing en geeft u wandelstokken uit. Als je aan je twee uur durende wandeling begint (een in een uit het bos), zal de waarneming van de Groene Vervet-Aap en verschillende soorten vogels worden gezien, samen met de verschillende soorten flora. Soms blijven de apen uit het zicht, vooral op bepaalde momenten van de dag. De gids laat je kennismaken met enkele van onze geneeskrachtige planten / bomen zoals Trumpets Bush, Black Sage & Sour Sop om er maar een paar te noemen tijdens een wandeling door dit exotische deel van het bos. Sommige van onze planten en bomen zijn in hoogte en dikte gegroeid met weelderige steunwortels, b.v. Citrus-, Saman- en Locusbomen. Deze tour is geschikt voor personen van gemiddeld fysiek niveau (niveau 3 van de 5). Men moet heuvelopwaarts kunnen lopen, over smalle paden, over stenen, kleine rotsen en geen fysieke uitdagingen hebben. Bij twijfel is het altijd het beste om vóór de boeking contact op te nemen met de leverancier. Voor vertrek naar uw hotel of haven wordt een lichte snack met gebak en drank geserveerd. AANBEVELEN: Loop met water uit flessen, draag duurzame zoolsneakers, zonnebrandcrème, lichte broek of shorts net boven de knieën, T- of poloshirts, blouse of een lichtgewicht top met korte mouwen.
Dit is op weg naar het bos. Dit was een landgoed uit het verleden waar tabak en indigo oorspronkelijk werd geproduceerd in de jaren 1600, maar suiker werd een succesvoller en winstgevender exportproduct. Vandaag zijn er overblijfselen van een aquaduct, schoorsteen, molenhuis (voor het breken van riet) en een rumdistilleerderij ontdekt in 2013. Een deel van dit gebied is te zien terwijl je door het regenwoud reist.

We were picked up by our guide right on time in front of the port building. We were a small group of four people. This was fantastic because the guide was able to explain things in much more detail. We took a bus ride of about 30 minutes to the rainforest. There, our hike through the stunning natural landscape of St. Kitts began. The guide took plenty of time to explain the different trees and plants to us. It was very interesting to hear that many of them have healing properties and are used as medicine. We saw so many amazing things. At the end, we could choose whether we wanted to take an easy route back or go on a little adventure. We opted for the second option. This led us up a small hill in the rainforest. There were ropes to hold onto. That was really fun. Afterwards, we had traditional pastries and a delicious, ice-cold passion fruit juice on the bus. Then we were taken back to the port. In total, we were out for about 3.5 hours. It was a great morning!
Very disappointed in Tropical Tours and TripAdvisor. We booked our Rain Forest tour the day before around noon. We confirmed the tour with a TripAdvisor representative on the phone who told us to be at the pick up location at 8:15. My credit card was charged within an hour. By 8:30 we called TripAdvisor who called the tour operator. They told us they did not see our reservation until the morning so they would not be picking us up. They never showed up and we could not go. Very disappointing!
Amazing light hike. Great way to familiarize yourself with the rainforest. Highly recommend. Definitely plan on hiking up to the volcano.

Great time. Hike was almost 2 mile loop but our 7 year old had no problem with it! Be sure to have some water with you during the hike. Tour guides took us his home afterwards and gave us homemade banana bread and drinks! We loved it!
We enjoyed our trip through the rainforest. Our guide was very informative; he had grown up next to the forest and spent lots of time playing there as a child. He shared stories from his childhood experiences, pointed out characteristics of different plants such as healing properties, food options, and sound capabilities (ficus). He even disproved the movie myth of Tarzan swinging on vines. Afterward, he shared raisin bread and passion fruit juice made by his family! Ask about St. Kitts’ national alcohol……

For lovers of nature, history, herbalism or distilleries, this is the right tour! We soaked up all we could learn, enjoyed the time hiking in the rainforest, and walked away with a new appreciation for natural medicine. Our knowledgable guide had so much to share. We were pleasantly surprised with the "extra" things he went out of his way to show us. This half-day tour is a good option for those who arrive by ship. The timing allowed us a few remaining hours on shore near the port to explore/shop/dine on our own.

Mr Rogers fitted in this rainforest walk for us at short notice and we were so glad it was possible. He was relaxed, chatty and put us at ease, adapting the tour to our particular interests (my husband is a naturalist). We walked through the rainforest for more than three hours as he pointed out fruit and nut trees, butterflies and evidence of the local vervet monkeys. It was fascinating to hear about the use of the plants, knowledge which is still held largely orally and which he has learned from older community members and family. The impression came over of a living pharmacy that people would walk into to get the cures they needed - some still used by older people today. It was quite different from the UK woods that we know! This was a manageable walk over rough paths, and we chose to climb a steep bank to the ridge (an easier alternative was available). I was grateful for the advice of an earlier reviewer to take the offered stick for the walk. We ended up with a welcome glass of cold juice and a tasty coconut pastry treat before being taken back to our meeting point in the open-sided buses used on the island. If you are averagely/reasonably fit and into nature, this tour is highly recommended. It is on the same site as the zip-wire experience if you fancy an overhead view of the rainforest as well! (completely separate tour) We did not but others were buzzing past overhead and having a great time by the look of it.
We were lucky to have the Owner who took good care of us on this trip. Our ship docked at a different port and he had people at both ports looking for us. Then we found out he was our tour guide as well, once we were gathered up with everyone. At any rate it would be considered an easy hike if you are in shape and I would say it was a moderate hike for me (not in shape) there were a few times my daughter helped me over a long (darn short legs) etc. The tour was beautiful!
