Onze Tour begint rond 09:15 uur in Camí de la Escollera voor de kathedraal van Palma. Palma werd gesticht als een Romeins kamp op de overblijfselen van een Talaiotische nederzetting. De stad werd tijdens de val van het West-Romeinse rijk onderworpen aan verschillende vandaalaanvallen, daarna heroverd door het Bizantijnse rijk, vervolgens gekoloniseerd door de Moren (die het Medina Mayurqa noemden) en, in de 13e eeuw, door James I van Aragon.
Soller is een prachtig dorp op drie kilometer van de haven aan de noordoostkust van Mallorca en staat bekend als het commerciële en culturele centrum aan de Serra de Tramontana. Het komt uit een vallei omringd door bergen genaamd de 'el valle de Los Naranjos' (de vallei van sinaasappelbomen) en het prachtige, centrale plein dat de belangrijkste ontmoetingsplaats van het dorp is, is omgeven door vele kleine, geplaveide straatjes. Bij onze aankomst in Sóller, het commerciële en culturele centrum van de Sierra, worden we begroet door het centrale plein van Sóller, dat perfect is om op een terras te zitten en de kerk van San Bartolomé en het Banco de Sóller-gebouw te observeren.
De haven van Sóller is een prachtige natuurlijke haven in het noordwesten van het eiland en een belangrijk toeristisch centrum. Een kleine schat begeerd in de oudheid door kapers die ons een onherhaalbaar landschap biedt waarin de geur van oranjebloesem zich vermengt met het aroma van de zee. De haven en de stad Sóller zijn verbonden door een oude houten tram die al zijn esthetiek en originele decoratie heeft behouden en die we kunnen bewonderen tijdens een wandeling langs de levendige promenade van de haven.
Op 4 oktober 1913 werd de eerste elektrische tramlijn in Mallorca in gebruik genomen, die liep tussen Sóller en Puerto de Sóller. De bouw van de Sóller-tram begon na de inhuldiging van de spoorlijn Palma-Sóller. Het project voor deze lijn is ontworpen en geleid door Pedro Garau en er is 4.868 meter spoor aangelegd. De ijzeren brug over de Torrent Major valt op. In het begin had de tram een elektriciteitscentrale in het station van Sóller die werd aangedreven door een explosiemotor van 65 pk die werkte met een Siemens-Schuckert-dynamo en een gelijkstroom van 600 volt leverde. Hoewel de Sóller-tram ontworpen was om passagiers te vervoeren, werd hij ook gebruikt om goederen naar de haven te vervoeren.

A must do day out when staying on Majorca. We caught the bus to Palma with a short walk to the train station from the bus station. The train is an open wooden one with beautiful scenery to look at on the journey to Soller. Stepping out of the station the tram stop is there to take you down to the port through the town. There are many cafes and restaurants near the station and of course down in the port which has a St Tropez feel about it. We booked the last train back at 19:30 but we struggled to find enough to do at the port once we had eaten so had a long wait which we passed the time drinking in one of the bars in the top town square opposite the church. All in all a great day out in the sunshine with a little bit of adventure.

Longish train ride to Soller, and we had to wait for quite awhile at the train station before boarding. Soller looks like a cute town, but we had 15 minutes there so really could only go to one shop and then had to head back. Tram ride to the port was fine, although a lot of us had to stand as there were no seats. Port is nice, and we got enough time there to walk around see things. Then we had to walk several blocks back to the bus to take us home. All in all, a lot of time in transit, and little time at the actual places.

I never leave bad reviews but this one was horrendous. Its sweltering hot out, we were a group of 6 with my 75 year old mother. First of all, they came 30 minutes earlier than planned and thankfully I was outside but they yelled at me when I tried to tell them they're early. They threatened to leave if I didn't get on within a minute so I scrambled everyone and thankfully we made it. After transferring to another bus in the Port (20 minutes later) bus #2 broke down which meant we stood outside in the sweltering heat for almost an hour. A tour that should have started at 930am ended up starting at 11am. Very disappointing, unorganized and not worth the money.

The actual tour did not match the description. Pick up was 45 min. late, time spent at each stop, Soller and Port Soller was a 15 or 20 min. rather than the advertised time of 45 min. or 1 hour. The "luxury bus" was anything but- no AC or adequate room. The guide, Carmen, was rude, impatient, and ill-informed. The entire tour was a huge waste of time and money. I suggest getting a taxi or a car and going independently. We received ZERO information about the area. It was simply awful.

Carmen was fabulous! She called the day before to confirm our meeting point. During the tour she spoke to us in 4 languages to ensure all guests received the information about the tram, train and surrounding logistics. She kept track of all passengers on a variety of tour packages.

Excellent trip only negative didn't get any tme in Pt Soller only 20 minutes pretty rushed and not enough time in Soller, was booked for a 09.30 hotel received message changing to another pick up point 10 minutes away at 08.30 spent 4 hours on the coach doing other passengers pickup, enjoyed the tour and experience Sophie and driver very good, no time for toilet breaks,returned after experience to join the coach and toilet was closed, but on a positive note well worth the experience.
