Cabo da Roca Onze eerste stop is een van de meest iconische bezienswaardigheden van Portugal: Cabo da Roca, het meest westelijke punt van het vasteland van Europa. Met zijn dramatische kliffen en eindeloze uitzicht op de oceaan is het een plek om te pauzeren, de frisse zeelucht in je op te nemen en je te verwonderen over de rauwe schoonheid van de natuur. Een perfecte fotostop!
In het binnenland bereiken we de mystieke Quinta da Regaleira — een plek gevuld met geheime tunnels, mysterieuze symboliek, weelderige tuinen en de beroemde Inwijdingsbron. De rondleiding zit vol boeiende verhalen die dit unieke landgoed tot leven brengen.
Vervolgens bezoeken we het charmante historische centrum van Sintra, waar u vrije tijd heeft om DE pittoreske straatjes te verkennen, foto’s te maken, door lokale winkels te bladeren en onze meest geliefde traditionele gebakjes te proeven: de beroemde Travesseiros uit Piriquita en de heerlijke Queijadas de Sintra. Een zoete pauze in een magische omgeving.
Om de dag zo goed mogelijk af te sluiten, bezoeken we het spectaculaire Pena Palace and Park. Met zijn levendige kleuren en sprookjesachtige architectuur is dit paleis een van de ware schatten van Portugal. My wife and I have taken guided tours all over the world, and our day in Sintra with Wonder Van and Rafael ranks among the very best. Sintra itself is stunning, but what made the experience truly special was Rafael. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Portuguese history and has a gift for explaining it in a way that is both engaging and easy to understand. Throughout the day, he connected the sites we visited to the broader story of Portugal and its influence around the world, helping us appreciate not just what we were seeing, but why it mattered. His insights into the Portuguese Age of Discovery and the country’s lasting impact across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas added a whole new dimension to the experience. What I appreciated most was Rafael’s genuine passion for his country. It never felt like a scripted tour. It felt like spending the day with a knowledgeable friend who was excited to share the history, culture, and traditions of Portugal. He was patient with questions, attentive to everyone in the group, and full of recommendations that enhanced the rest of our stay. If you’re visiting Lisbon and considering a trip to Sintra, I cannot recommend Wonder Van highly enough. And if you’re lucky enough to get Rafael as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic day. He transformed a beautiful sightseeing trip into one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Portugal.

Raphael was an incredible host and the day was very enjoyable. He was very knowledgable and provided some interesting facts across the day. The tour was a great way to see Cintra and some of the landmarks. I highly recommend for anyone visiting Lisbon!
We had a fantastic time with our guide Raphael. He took us to all the hidden gems, had such insightful things to say about the area, answered all our questions and even gave us recommendations for lunch in Sintra. The sightseeing was amazing, I would highly recommend this tour.
Thomas is an excellent tour guide. Local from Sintra and his knowledge of history and experience made the tour that much better. Recommend to anyone looking for a day trip from Lisbon. Admission fees were included which made it even better. He’s also a great photographer and communicator.
Raphael was super helpful and informative! If you don’t have a lot of time and want to see Sintra area but need a ride, book this trip! I definitely would not have learned as much visiting on my own! Raphael is a local who grew up in the area. He will tell you where the best restaurants are, interesting trivia, history and more! I also found it quite amusing/ adorable whenever he mentioned his wife in jokes… Perhaps newlywed? I had just stayed at a surf house the week before so it was great to learn about the swells and surf culture that Raphael lives too.
Tomas was our guide, he was very nice. It was excellent service. The pick up was nice and easy. We had one of the newer cars, so it was very clean, and good. Our group was seven people making the tour better beacuse he could talk to us individually, he spent time learning our names, getting to know us, and telling us stories. He took us to really nice spots and gave us really good recommendations. He was very accommodating for the people in our party. He was very excited to show us his favorite spots, so it made the trip much more exciting. He knows how to read the room and show us what spots he think we would like, he did a really great job. He was very in with the times.
Our trip to Sintra Cascais and Cabo de Roca was outstanding. It was worth the price we paid. We learned so much. The views were breathtaking. Our guide Alex is so knowledgeable and passionate about the history and information he shared with us. We loved this tour

Beautiful experience! Rafael was super knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. He facilitated conversation between guests. The small group tour was very useful for getting around to a lot of sites further from Lisboa. Definitely worth the time and money! Rafael responded to questions, waited for “ducklings” to catch up, conversated, made local food and other local recommendations… I think he must be newlywed because he joked a lot in kind ways about his wife. It was super adorable. He talked about soccer/ football and surfing too so it was nice to see a local perspective! I don’t think I would have learned so much about the locations if I had visited by myself!
