Barokke stad van Val di Noto, het is een stad van neolithische oorsprong, de hoofdstad van een oude en krachtige provincie, die een rijk repertoire van gastronomische specialiteiten heeft, evenals een groot artistiek en cultureel erfgoed. Ragusa Ibla is het oude historische centrum van de stad Ragusa. Het is beroemd over de hele wereld voor meer dan vijftig kerken en talloze paleizen, getuigenis van de hoogste uitdrukking van de barok op Sicilië. Gelegen op een heuvel, domineert het kleine dorpje Ibla de omliggende vallei, met zijn hutten en smalle straatjes waarop de majestueuze kathedraal van San Giorgio heerst, de hoogste uitdrukking van de barokke Hyblean. Ragusa ibla is de afgelopen jaren een van de belangrijkste toeristische attracties op Sicilië geworden. In 2002 werd de stad opgenomen in de UNESCO-baroklocaties van de Val di Noto.
Noto wordt beschouwd als de hoofdstad van de Siciliaanse barok en maakt deel uit van de UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocaties van de Val di Noto. De stad, die na de aardbeving van 1693 werd herbouwd, fascineert bezoekers met haar elegante paleizen, monumentale kerken en de schitterende kathedraal van San Nicolò. Wandelend over Corso Vittorio Emanuele kunt u buitengewone voorbeelden van barokarchitectuur bewonderen, gebouwd met de karakteristieke gouden steen die de stad bij zonsondergang een unieke sfeer geeft.

The trip was advertised as a Montalbano tour. We visited one site which the driver had difficulty finding. Every time we stopped subsequently it was not connected to Montalbano. The driver could not speak English. He chose where we went for lunch and suggested a tourist train ride round the town. The company had agreed to drop two Australian couples off at their hotel which the driver couldn't find so we arrived back in Catania at about 7.30 instead of 6pm. When I complained in the office I was told that Montalbano was just the name of the tour -which was exactly why we chose it. There were several other Montalbano trips advertised so we believe the company is deliberately misleading tourists to get the bookings. The girl in the office told my wife no refund was available because we had seen the house and the rest of the trip was to see the General area and not to visit specific locations. If we had known this we would not have booked it. As a side issue because the driver acted as the personal taxi for the Australian couples and made us very late our taxi driver had to wait for 90 minutes to drive us back to our hotel
A very good tour but do not expect interaction with the driver. He is a driver, not a guide. It would have been nice to get tips and ask questions instead of hearing a recording of what you are about to see. Also, the car goes through twists and turns in the roadways and if you get carsick easily, take dramamine. It was a beautiful day exploring on a wonderful tour.
