De Guba-Shahdag tour is een reis door het Europese deel van Azerbeidzjan. Langs de Kaspische Zee langs het laagland van Samur-Divichinsky loopt een weg die toeristen per semi-express naar de bergen van de Noord-Kaukasus brengt. Een reis naar een van de populairste skigebieden in Azerbeidzjan, gelegen op de Shahdag-berg, is een reis door de uitgestrekte steppe en oogverblindende besneeuwde bergen.

We halen op bij centrale hotels in Bakoe, behalve hotels die zich in de oude stad en dichtbij bevinden. Dat gasten naar de Dubbele Poorten komen - de hoofdpoorten van de Oude Stad (Qosha Qala qapisi)
Als u langs de snelweg M1 rijdt die de hoofdstad van Azerbeidzjan met de grootste steden van Rusland verbindt, ziet u de berg Beshbarmak, gelegen nabij de kust van de Kaspische Zee. Beshbarmak is een bedevaartsoord voor de lokale bevolking en is dankzij zijn hoogte en vorm al sinds de oudheid een uitstekend referentiepunt voor zeilers. De heilige plaats “Pir Hydyr Zundzha” ligt aan de voet van de Beshbarmag-berg, waar de reizigers stoppen om te bidden en te aanbidden. Je professionele gids vertelt je de mythische verhalen die met deze plek te maken hebben.
Een van de mooiste stukken weg van Azerbeidzjan loopt ongeveer 40 kilometer van de snelweg Guba-Baku in westelijke richting naar het bergdorpje Altiaghaj. Ongeveer halverwege tussen de twee gaat men door een dramatische vallei geflankeerd door glooiende schaliebergen waarvan de verbazingwekkende rode, oranje, roze en krijtkleurige wervelingen de Britse reisschrijver Mark Elliott (auteur van de zeer populaire 'Azerbeidzjaanse' reisgids) ertoe brachten ze te dubben de Candy Cane Mountains, een naam die sindsdien bij reizigers blijft hangen. De verbazingwekkende kleuren zouden te wijten zijn aan grondwater dat de oxidatietoestand van ijzerverbindingen in het gesteente heeft veranderd.
De volgende bestemming is de stad Guba, gelegen in een van de mooiste natuurlijke landschappen van Azerbeidzjan. Op weg naar Guba bezoeken onze gasten de unieke nederzetting van Joden in de bergen, "Kaukasisch Jeruzalem" - de Rode Stad. Het dorp heeft 13 synagogen, waarvan er twee operationeel zijn. Er wonen ongeveer 4-5 duizend Joden in Qirmizi Qesebe, een symbool van pluralisme in Azerbeidzjan en symbool van vrede en harmonie tussen de verschillende religies.
Qechresh is een van de grootste dorpen in de Guba-regio. Het gebied is aan alle kanten bedekt met bos. Qechresh is beroemd om zijn natuurlijke bronnen en planten. Langs de weg zijn recreatiegebieden en restaurants waar u de lokale keuken kunt proeven.

Laatste punt van de tour is Shahdagh Mountain Resort Complex dat in Qusar stad ligt. Ze kunnen er genieten met verschillende winterattracties. Er zijn activiteiten zoals achtbaan, kabelbaan, zip-line, en ATV auto's.

We had such a fun trip with our guide Yusif! We visited the Candy Cane Mountains, had a great lunch in Guba, and then headed up to Shahdag which everybody needs to visit when coming to Azerbaijan. Even though it started raining a lot in the mountains, Yusif kept the trip enjoyable and made sure we didn’t miss out. He also took amazing photos of us, which made the day even more special. Highly recommend!

Candy cane mountain stop timing was ok and the mountains were beautiful, great place for insta photos. Stop at Guba shouldve been shorter, the main restaurant was bad and their food was not good at all. Toilets were not good at Guba and at the stop before jn the market! Saving the extra time spent in Guba couldve made it possible for us to try all the rides at Shadag, have better food options, shisha and enjoy the beautiful green mountains! I also bought my tickets with access to the rides and i discovered there that i have to pay for the zipline separately! I couldnt make it to the roller coaster because of the long queue at the zipline so i ended up losing tickets for 2! Toilets at the stop after Shahdag were not good, ladies cannot use them! We were lucky with the tour guide, Dianara, a very sweet girl kept us all entertained. I recommend group option as the trip is too long!

The guide is very friendly and cheerful. We spent many hours on the old mini van, which can be quite uncomfortable if you have car sickness as it is going up and down of a mountain, and it is stuffy and squeezy for 10 passengers and 1 driver to be in a mini van (I was sitting facing the opposite direction throughout the ride). Unfortunately it rained when we reached Shahdag mountain resort and had to do all the activities in the rain, and we were all wet and cold. We booked for an all inclusive tour so lunch was included. It was a big and quiet restaurant which served us very delicious food.
