Deze wandeltocht geeft je informatie over elk aspect van het leven in Sarajevo, tegenwoordig en vroeger. Je zult een heerlijke mix van Ottomaans, Oostenrijks-Hongaars en modern erfgoed tegenkomen, waaronder architectuur, woonpraktijk, keuken, religieuze voorwerpen, handelsgebruiken, enz. Maak kennis met het ‘kleine Jeruzalem’ en proef het meest verse, zuiverste drinkbare water in de wereld: als je dat doet, kom je zeker terug naar Sarajevo!

Het eerste monument dat je tijdens de tour ziet, is de grootste katholieke kerk in Sarajevo, de kathedraal van het Heilig Hart van Jezus. De kathedraal van het Heilig Hart van Jezus werd in 1889 gebouwd in neogotische stijl en is de zetel van het aartsbisdom Vrhbosna.
Binnen het Stedelijk Museum van Sarajevo bevindt zich het Museum van Joden van Bosnië en Herzegovina, gelegen in de oudste synagoge in Bosnië en Herzegovina.
''Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures'' is de boodschap op Ferhadija St., vlakbij Bezistan van Gazi Husrev Bey. Dit is de plek waar twee dominante culturen, die ooit Sarajevo vormden, samenkomen.
Gebouwd in de 16e eeuw is het de grootste historische moskee in Bosnië en Herzegovina en een van de meest representatieve Ottomaanse bouwwerken op de Balkan.
De Sebilj is een houten fontein in Ottomaanse stijl in het centrum van het Baščaršija-plein in Sarajevo, gebouwd door Mehmed Pasha Kukavica in 1753.
Koperslagerstraat. Geniet van de authentieke uitstraling van de straat die al eeuwenlang behouden blijft. In deze straat woont nog steeds het ambacht van de koperslager.
Het stadhuis van Sarajevo, ook bekend als Vijećnica, is het meest extravagante gebouw dat in Sarajevo is gebouwd tijdens de Oostenrijks-Hongaarse bezetting en dient als symbool van de ontmoeting van wereldbeschavingen.
Populaire brug met Spite House in de buurt. Uit koppigheid van de eigenaar werd het huis bekend als het Spite House. Tegenwoordig is het een populair nationaal restaurant en een beschermd cultureel en historisch erfgoed.
De Keizersmoskee is de oudste moskee van Sarajevo en een van de oudste in Bosnië en Herzegovina. Er wordt aangenomen dat Isa Bey Ishaković, de stichter van Sarajevo, deze plaats van aanbidding kort na de stichting van de stad in 1462 liet bouwen ter ere van Sultan Mehmed II “de Veroveraar”.
Ook bekend als Principov Most is een plaats waar Gavrilo Princip, die slechts een paar meter verwijderd was van deze brug, aartshertog Franz Ferdinand en zijn vrouw Sofie vermoordde. Dit incident, bekend als de moord op Sarajevo, leidde tot het begin van de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
De bezistan (overdekte bazaar) van Gazi Husrev-beg is een van de bewaard gebleven bezistan in Sarajevo uit de Ottomaanse periode. Bezistan, gebouwd in 1555 in Baščaršija, dient nog steeds zijn doel: handel.
Taslihan werd in 1543 gebouwd als de waqf van de Ghazi Husrev-Bey. Het had een fontein, moskee, tuin, winkels en opslagruimten. Het werd zwaar beschadigd tijdens verschillende branden die Sarajevo troffen.
Hotel gelegen in het hart van de stad Sarajevo, op slechts een steenworp afstand van de toeristische kern van de oude binnenstad. Dit Oostenrijks-Hongaarse gebouw alleen al met zijn uiterlijke pracht zal u betoveren.
De Kathedraalkerk van de Geboorte van de Theotokos is de grootste Servisch-Orthodoxe kerk in Sarajevo en een van de grootste op de Balkan.
Het monument voor de ‘multi-etnische mens’ die de multi-etniciteit viert, is gepositioneerd in het centrum tussen drie belangrijke religieuze symbolen – de katholieke kathedraal, de moslimmoskee en de christelijk-orthodoxe kerk – op slechts een steenworp afstand van elk. ‘De multiculturele mens bouwt de wereld’, is gesneden in de Italiaanse en Bosnische taal.
Een Sarajevo Rose is een soort gedenkteken in Sarajevo gemaakt van een betonnen litteken veroorzaakt door de explosie van een mortiergranaat dat later werd gevuld met rode hars.

We had the chance to join the walking tour without booking in advance. We were at the square when we saw someone holding a Free Walking Tour umbrella, so we asked if we could join, and luckily we could! It was one of the best walking tours I have ever been on. Very interesting from start to finish. Our guide, Adnan, explained everything in such an easy and pleasant way that it was effortless to follow along. I didn’t get bored for a single moment. He also answered many of our questions and curiosities with patience and enthusiasm. Joining this tour was definitely a great choice. I’ve joined walking tours in other cities before, and honestly, some of them were disappointing because they didn’t reach the same level as this one. I highly recommend it!

We were fortunate to do this tour with the immensely erudite Adnan. Sarajevo is a city best experienced by walking and we covered the city’s history from the Ottomans to the Habsburgs and the siege of the 1990s. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting - we did it on our first day and it was very helpful for orienting ourselves.

We had a great tour guide (Adnan) who spoke very good English. During the tour we learned a lot about the historical and cultural elements of the city: for example, something about copper craftsmanship, the roses in Sarajevo or famous poets and thinkers. It was a good and balanced mix of everything. My personal highlight was when we went to a "workshop"/shop for copper products and were able to watch the production there. Highly recommended!
