Zonder twijfel is de Sani-pas een van de meest spectaculaire en schilderachtige bergpassen van Afrika. Deze tour is een must als je naar Kwa-Zulu Natal reist. De Pas slingert steil door de top van de Drakensberg en door de grenspost van Lesotho. Veel avontuurlijke reizigers van over de hele wereld nemen dit mee op hun reisschema's om het adembenemende natuurlijke landschap te doorkruisen dat deze precaire berg te bieden heeft. De rondleiding vereist geen fysieke fitheid en moedigt daarom mensen van alle leeftijden aan. Je wordt om 6.00 uur opgehaald bij je accommodatie in Durban en keert terug om ongeveer 18:00 uur, afhankelijk van het weer en het verkeer. De tour pakt een grote stoot met een onvergetelijk uitzicht. Je verlaat de verovering van de hoogste en meest iconische pas die zuidelijk Afrika te bieden heeft.

Deze tour is voor alle leeftijden en fitnessniveaus. De duur van deze tour is ongeveer 6 uur met een transfer van ongeveer 2,5 uur van Durban en hetzelfde bij terugkeer. Je vertrekt om 6:00 vanuit je accommodatie in Durban. Als u buiten Durban verblijft, neem dan contact met ons op om te bevestigen of er een toeslag nodig is. Breng je geldige paspoort mee en het is raadzaam om een warm jasje, een extra fles water, zonnebrandcrème, een verrekijker en je camera mee te nemen. Tijdens uw rit vanuit Durban passeert u het historische stadje Pietermaritzburg en slaat u af richting de bergen van de Southern Drakensberg. Als je verder de bergen in rijdt, passeer je kleine pittoreske landelijke dorpen en uitgestrekte landerijen. Bij aankomst in Underberg wordt u opgewacht door een professionele Sani Pass-gids en wordt u overgebracht naar een 4x4-voertuig. Je rijdt langs landerijen en de uitlopers van de Drakensberg richting de Zuid-Afrikaanse grenscontrole. Dan begint de rondleiding serieus. Je zult 1000 meter over een grindweg klimmen gedurende 8 kilometer door een werelderfgoedlocatie en een prachtig landschap naar de grenspost van Lesotho. Aan de top bereik je een hoogte van 2840 meter. Tijdens de klim op de pas zie je verschillende soorten vogels, elanden, bavianen en kleine mannetjes. Endemische fauna en flora zijn er in overvloed op deze werelderfgoedlocatie. Na de grenscontrole van Lesotho gaat u naar de afgelegen Lesotho Highlands. Je kunt zelfs enkele van de ongrijpbare Basotho-herders zien die bedekt zijn met traditionele dekens en traditionele hoofddeksels dragen. Je bezoekt een klein dorp dat oorspronkelijk werd gebouwd om de plaatselijke herders te helpen en hun stenen huizen te zien. Je gids geeft uitleg over hun manier van leven en dagelijkse rituelen. Daarna ga je richting de Hoogste Pub in Afrika voor lunch en drankjes (op eigen kosten). Gelegen aan de rand van de Escarpment heeft u uitstekende fotomomenten vanaf de voorste dekken van het restaurant. Na de lunch ga je via de grens terug en kom je door de verbluffende Sani Pass-bochten die een van de meest spectaculaire scènes in Afrika is. Met een volle buik en veel herinneringen wordt je chauffeur opgewacht door je transfer naar Durban. Een echte kans om niet alleen de pracht van deze pas te zien, maar ook een ander land

Amazing experience!! A super smooth ride from Durban to Sani Pass + Lesotho and back all in the same day in a comfortable vehicle! Everyone was so nice and the pictures of Sani Pass do NOT do the Drakensburg justice.. the landscape blew me away and it was truly the highlight of the entire trip even though everything else we saw on our trip was amazing! As mentioned, everyone from the organizer to the guide to the driver were super friendly and gave us lots of good insight and history and background along with the experience itself! Would love to travel with them again!!

I made this reservation at the last minute, and I worked with Yolanda on the phone. She was able to put together a very last minute trip for me and my friend, and coordinated a ride from the cruise terminal in Durban with Xolani to Underberg, where we changed vehicles and did the Sani Pass trip with Patrick. Patrick was excellent, and gave us the history of the area. We crossed the border into Lesotho, and drove to a village and met with the villagers, who shared their culture and dance/songs with us. The weather wasn’t perfect, but the day was, and we got to see so much in a short amount of time. I would highly recommend Major Adventures for this trip!
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide Allen was extremely knowledgeable about both South Africa and Basotho and masterfully drove up the difficult pass. We saw baboons, danced with Basotho locals, and got some breathtaking views.

The expirience was amazing. Driver was very expiriences, the people that we met were international young students and they were fun to be with. We helped each other. Lesoto people were great. Defenately a warm jacket was useful and needed. I would advise that people bring actual cash as we had an u ha memoment when we just finished eating and the card machine declined all our bank cards from different banks😁
Good Afternoon, some very great feedback for those thinking of doing the Sani Pass Day Tour. Lesotho can get up to 10 degrees cooler than South Africa. Jackets, Sunscreen and Cash is always advised to travel with. Loadshedding plays havoc in our Country, including Lesotho, and we are very sorry that this impacted on your trip. Warren the tour guide was fantastic!He was so knowledgeable about everything and real’y took his time to make sure our tour was flawless.We did have a pick up from Durban which was not organised that well so we would suggest confirming this with Major adventures the night before!Other than that,get a tour with Warren!He is the BEST!

Regarding the transfer from Durban - we depend on clients providing us with the exact pickup address in Durban. While Cameron gave us a pickup address, this is not where the driver eventually found you both. We were with a travellers group. In 4 jeeps the very skilled drivers drove us through the Sanipass and told us about the flora and fauna in the surroundings as well as the history in that place. Seeing nature changing the higher we drove was extraordinary. Never felt and tasted such cold and fresh water from the mountains. The views were amazing and being in Lesotho was beautiful, again experiencing another culture within a culture.

We had an amazing day with our guide Elias. He was a wealth of valuable knowledge. The drive up the Sani Pass was gorgeous. Don’t leave Lesotho off your itinerary! It makes for a very long day if you’re coming from Durban, but it’s worth it and completely doable!
