San Jose Walking Nature Tour: luiaards, vogels en bomen

Na deze ervaring zul je absoluut dol zijn op San José. Onder begeleiding van jonge biologen ontdek je de natuur midden in de grootste stad van Costa Rica. Je zult met al je zintuigen dieren in het wild ervaren waarvan je niet had gedacht dat ze op enkele minuten afstand van het centrum bestonden. Wij zijn een organisatie genaamd Oropopo Experience, die de manier waarop toerisme in Costa Rica wordt gedaan wil veranderen en tegelijkertijd jonge wetenschappers, onderzoekers en lokale ondernemers wil ondersteunen. Extra notities: ** Van mei tot en met november raden wij aan om het ochtendslot te boeken, maar de middagen zijn ook prima. • De enige wandeltocht door de natuur door San Jose. • Verken te voet een van de laatste groene plekken in de stad met een plaatselijke bioloog. • Zie, ruik, proef, voel en luister naar de natuur. • Vind kleurrijke vogels, eetbare planten en een wilde luiaardpopulatie op de campus. • Een percentage van de inkomsten gaat naar Funga Conservation, een non-profit stichting. • Rondleiding in kleine groepen met maximaal 10 personen zorgt voor een intieme ervaring

We bezoeken de campus van de Universiteit van Costa Rica, die enkele van de grootste stukken bos in het San José Metro Area herbergt. Bij onze eerste stop gaan we op zoek naar verblijfs- en trekvogels, ongelooflijke insecten en verbazingwekkende planten en bloemen. We zullen het hebben over kunst, geschiedenis, inheemse cultuur en vooral de natuur. Daarna bezoeken we de hoofdcampus waar we op zoek gaan naar luiaards die vrij leven en hopelijk zelfs de twee verschillende soorten zien die ons land bewonen. DISCLAIMER: Dit is geen Recue Center- of Sloth Sactuary-tour. Je zult ze niet kunnen aanraken. Als ze worden gevonden, zullen de luiaards in hun natuurlijke habitat worden gezien, wat betekent dat ze het grootste deel van de tijd in de bomen zullen slapen. Toch is onze ervaring de beste optie in San Jose als je een echte natuurliefhebber bent. Dit is een wandeltocht van 2,5 uur, sommige delen worden blootgesteld aan intens zonlicht. Geen zware wandeling, maar houd wel rekening met uw fysieke conditie

This was a wonderful experience! Priscilla is an amazing nature guide and the forest on the university is beautiful! We learned so much about the local birds, insects and even saw three sloths! Priscilla patiently answered everyone's questions and set up her telescope at each stop so we could see the wildlife up close. I got wonderful photos with just my iPhone. We were able to see the wildlife much better on this tour than the wildlife sanctuary we visited the next day. We are planning a return trip to Costa Rica next year and plan to go on this tour again. Such a great tour. Really really informative and friendly guide called Mary. We saw a great variety of animals. Including sloths and carpenter bees.
We had a few hours to spare in San Jose and were keen to see our first sloths. This trip didn’t disappoint. Rigo was excellent and he took us around the reserve in the university grounds. We saw both species of sloth, one mum had a baby. Highly recommended if you have a couple of hours to spare.
It was a marvelous window to the bioiversity of San José / University of Costa Rica. Our guide, Priscilla, was extremely patient, always helpful with enciclopedic knowledge, emotional about nature. We saw sloths, birds, insects, learned about plants and conservation. We ended at the Zoological Museum at UCR. I would do it again if I could.
Incredible experience with my family, my 8 and 6-year-old children enjoyed seeing the beautiful sloths =) 💜 learning about different insects and the vegetation, our guide Dariel explained everything in detail during the tour, his experience is evident, he was very kind. 100% recommended, we returned even more in love with the sloths💜😍

On our first day in Costa Rica rather than having a rest day we booked this tour and it was a great introduction. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We were a bit uncertain about doing a nature tour in the centre of the city but we saw loads of things (including sloths!) and learnt a lot.

Our guide was very kind and took the time to explain everything to my group. He accommodated me even though I was late due to bad traffic. I learned a ton of things in a short period of time and got to see the sloths! Our guide used a telescope so we could view the sloth better! I highly recommend booking this tour!
Guide was excellent. A recent college grad. Get to walk the university of Costa Rica and see some nice urban green areas. Saw both types of sloth.
