De aantrekkelijkheid en pittoreske stad biedt een uitgebreid ambacht op hun beurzen van donderdag en zondag met een lange en kleurrijke traditie. Pisaq is een van de meest bezochte plaatsen in de heilige vallei van de Inca's, vanwege zijn verrassende archeologische monumenten die alleen vergelijkbaar zijn met Machu Picchu. Het heeft een enorm systeem van Inca andenería dat oploopt naar de afgronden, die lijken op enorme hangende tuinen. Ondanks de stap van de eeuwen kan het nog steeds voor de landbouw worden gebruikt. De archeologische plaats, gelegen in het hoge deel, wordt gevormd door buurten. De Intiwatana, de grootste pre-colombus begraafplaats op het continent, ook zijn teeltplatforms (andenen) en de torentjes van waakzaamheid. Pisaq woont kolonisten van nabij gelegen steden en duizenden bezoekers bij. Een van de aantrekkelijkheid van deze beurzen is de parade van de autoriteiten of Varayocs die naar de stad gaan om de massa te luisteren in Quechua, de hoofdtaal van de regio. In het hoge gedeelte zijn het de Inca-ruïnes van Písaq met een groot systeem van andenerías en met een belangrijke zonneklok in steen of Intihuatana. Tegenwoordig is Pisaq een van de belangrijkste archeologische parken in de regio en vormt het een van de beste toeristische bestemmingen; hun naam is mogelijk afgeleid van een patrijs-type dat veel voorkomt in dit bekende gebied als "p'isaqa". Sommige specialisten suggereren dat de pre-Spaanse stad de vorm had van een "p'isaqa" die de plaatselijke fauna vertegenwoordigde.
Het charmante stadje Urubamba is omgeven door hoge Andes-toppen in het hart van de heilige vallei. In tegenstelling tot Ollantaytambo en Pisac, waarvan de Inca-ruïnes de grootste trekpleister zijn, is de aantrekkingskracht van Urubamba de omringende natuurlijke schoonheid en de relaxte sfeer. De vele prachtige hotels zijn de perfecte plek om te ontspannen en uzelf te trakteren op luxe spabehandelingen. Avontuurlijke sporten en tours zijn slechts een korte rit verwijderd! We zullen hier stoppen voor de lunch.
Ollantaytambo is een mooi dorp dat de ontwerpen van Inca-gebouwen op een hoogte van 9160 voet in de provincie Urubamba behoudt. Een van de meest indrukwekkende attracties van deze plek zijn de ceremoniële tempel in aanbidding van water en een fort dat de ingang van de vallei bewaakte om eventuele invasies af te weren. De tempel heeft een reeks op elkaar liggende terrassen die bezoekers via een steile trap beklimmen. Het fort is een stenen kolos die tussen twee bergen is gebouwd om de vallei te beschermen. Het gebied bevat ook de tempel van Inti (de zonnegod), Incamisana, de baden van de Ñustas (prinsessen), de funeraire torens van Cachiccata en een groep gelaagde en zeer steile terrassen aan de zijkant van een heuvel. Ollantaytambo bevat ook de berg genaamd Pinculluna of Tunupa, die de overblijfselen van Inca-architecturale structuren bevat die een opslagplaats voor verschillende voedingsmiddelen lijken te zijn geweest. Ollantaytambo is ook een ontmoetingsplaats voor nabijgelegen gemeenschappen, zoals de Huayruros de Willoc, die te herkennen zijn aan hun rode en zwarte poncho's en hoeden.
Chinchero is een klein Andes-Indisch dorp hoog op de winderige vlaktes van Anta op 3765 meter ongeveer 30 km van Cusco. Er zijn prachtige uitzichten over de heilige vallei van de Inca's, met de Cordillera Vilcabamba en de met sneeuw bedekte top van Salkantay die de westelijke horizon domineert. Chinchero wordt beschouwd als de mythische geboorteplaats van de regenboog. De belangrijkste claim op toerisme is de kleurrijke zondagmarkt die veel minder toeristisch is gericht dan de markt in Pisac. Het dorp bestaat voornamelijk uit huizen van lemen baksteen (adobe) en de lokale bevolking gaat nog steeds in traditionele kledij. Het dorp was misschien een belangrijke stad in de Inca-tijd. Het meest opvallende overblijfsel van deze periode is de massieve stenen muur in het hoofdplein met tien trapeziumvormige nissen. De bouw van de muur en vele andere ruïnes en agrarische terrassen (die nog steeds in gebruik zijn) worden toegeschreven aan Inca Tupac Yupanqui die mogelijk Chinchero gebruikte als een soort buitenplaats. Op het hoofdplein is een adobe-koloniale kerk uit het begin van de zeventiende eeuw gebouwd op de fundamenten van een Inca-tempel of -paleis. Het plafond en de muren zijn bedekt met prachtige bloemen- en religieuze ontwerpen. De kerk is op zondag geopend voor mis. Een half uur lopen van het dorp brengt je naar Lake Piuri dat ooit Cusco met water voedde. Het duurt ongeveer 3 uur om rond het meer te wandelen door kleine pittoreske dorpjes.

Must-visit sites to understand Inca civilization. Guide Regi was knowledgeable and cultured. Four restaurants at different locations reserved for 15 people. Decent cuisine. However, there was complete disorganization of the itinerary by the agency in managing the pickup and drop-off times for the client, which were specified in the reservation contract signed three months earlier. The pickup at the hotel, which was supposed to start at 8 AM, was changed the day before, with times moved to 7 AM and then 7:20 AM, knowing that at 7:40 AM the agency was asking us where we were while we were waiting in the hotel lobby for their taxi! which took us elsewhere in Cusco to pick up other clients. We finally started after 8:30 AM and arrived in Pisac inevitably late, only having 30 minutes to climb and freely visit this perched site. 45 minutes to even an hour would have been more realistic! We were then split into four different restaurants, which generated a lot of traffic and wasted time on a program already packed with various visits. What a surprise it was to receive an untimely message from the agency during the meal, demanding that we respect the schedule (sic!), be punctual (!), and not disrupt the normal flow of the excursion at the risk of causing some to miss a train scheduled for Machu Picchu. We, of course, responded that the agency should not shift its own responsibilities, particularly regarding improvisation in the organization, onto the client. At 5:30 PM, as night was about to fall, we were going to visit an archaeological site in Chinchero; the ticket was no longer useful since there were no tourists left. Finally, after 6 PM, still in Chinchero, we were dropped off at a weaving workshop to have the techniques explained and possibly buy souvenirs. We resumed our journey, and at nearly 8 PM, while the drop-off was scheduled at the hotel, we were dropped off more than a kilometer away from the hotel, left to figure out how to get back. The guide immediately found a taxi for us as well as for herself. Traveling regularly, we had never encountered such a situation, such incompetence from a tour operator in managing an excursion, let alone the audacity to demand in a peremptory manner that the client respect the group's constraints. In conclusion, we are taking a 3-week road trip through Peru, and more than halfway through the journey, we can affirm that there are many professional agencies experienced in such tours that have moved beyond improvisation and bad faith to justify themselves.

Afin d’éviter que vous ne manquiez l’excursion, nous avons organisé et pris en charge à nos frais un taxi pour vous permettre de rejoindre le groupe. De la même manière, à la fin de la journée, nous avons également payé un taxi pour vous permettre de rentrer plus facilement. Nous souhaitons également préciser que le point de fin de l’excursion indiqué dans le programme est la Plaza Regocijo, comme mentionné dans la réservation, et non votre hôtel comme vous l’affirmez dans votre commentaire. Pendant le circuit, le guide a également dû attendre à plusieurs reprises votre retour afin que le groupe puisse poursuivre l’itinéraire prévu. Malgré cela, l’excursion s’est déroulée normalement et les autres participants se sont montrés satisfaits du service reçu. Nous comprenons que votre expérience n’ait pas répondu à toutes vos attentes. Toutefois, il est important de rappeler que la prestation réservée était une excursion partagée et non une excursion privée. Dans un circuit partagé, les horaires et le temps consacré à chaque visite doivent être respectés afin de garantir une expérience équitable pour l’ensemble des voyageurs. Si vous souhaitiez davantage de flexibilité concernant les horaires, les arrêts ou le temps passé sur chaque site, nous vous recommandons de réserver une excursion privée, spécialement conçue pour ce type de demande. Notre objectif est toujours d’offrir le meilleur service possible à nos voyageurs. We spent a beautiful day exploring some less traveled places in the Sacred Valley. We organized everything the night before, the agency was super helpful and flexible to meet our needs. We visited the Perolniyoc waterfall and Naupa Iglesias, our guide was very knowledgeable and passed on the passion for Inca culture. Highly recommended!

My two friends and I took the Sacred Valley tour from Ollantaytambo to Cusco, and it was incredible! Our guide, Jose, was outstanding punctual and knowledgeable. He met us at our hotel right on time, and we jumped straight into the adventure. Jose was with us every step of the way, sharing so much fascinating information that we wanted to keep learning even after the tour ended. I especially loved how everything was customized to fit exactly what we wanted to see and do. Highly recommend this tour 10/10!

They picked us up at Ollantaytambo Station at the time of the train arrival from Machu Picchu according to our itinerary. We communicated in simple English during the tour. They carefully explained the history and background of the ruins, and answered our questions accurately. They also flexibly responded to our needs with the tour schedule, and stopped at places where we could buy the same items cheaper than in Cusco or Machu Picchu. I recommend it.
