Ontmoet ons op station Friedrichstrasse, waar u aan boord gaat van onze ingehuurde coach om Oranienburg te bereiken. Onderweg introduceert onze gids Sachsenhausen, laat je zien waar de gevangenen in Oranienburg zouden hebben gewerkt en leer je meer over wat de lokale bevolking wist over de realiteit van het immense kampsysteem. Met onze gids loop je door het interieur van het nieuwe, moderne, altijd uitbreidbare concentratiekamp van Heinrich Himmmler. Bezoek het commandantenhuis en loop dan door toren A waar de iconische woorden nog steeds te zien zijn op de poort vandaag "ARBEIT MACHT FREI". Ervaar het interieur van het kamp, waar 35.000 mensen stierven tijdens de jaren van de operatie tussen 1936-45. Verken de kazerne van ziekenboeg, waar tijdens de oorlog werd geëxperimenteerd. If you can, take the bus tour with tour guide Emma - she's amazing. She is quite educated on the Holocaust and the concentration camps, and very passionate on the subject. She's considerate of the needs of those on the tour, and very open to questions.
Our tour guide, Emma was amazing. She was like a walking historian. She gave the background on Hitler like I've never heard before and taught us so much about propaganda. She was amazing. She did not mince words… These camps killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Good reminder to never forget.

Paul was so knowledgeable about the camp and its place in history. Joachim (hope I got the spelling correct) was a fantastic knowledgeable guide. We all could hardly believe it was his first time. He checked us all in timely and while on the bus, he gave us some background history before the Sachsenhausen tour. He spoke very clearly and with important facts. While we were at the camp, he further made sure we were timely and all together. He offered many fun facts and interesting tidbits. I especially liked the end-story with the music.

Our tour guide was excellent. He did a great job of explaining what was happening in the country that led to the Nazi party and mentality, and also centering the tour on the perspective of those imprisoned at the camp. It was a deeply moving, emotional tour but absolutely worth it. He was also extremely accommodating of an older person in our group who was struggling with the heat, and we were very grateful for that. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

If you go on the tour in Summer, bring a. Umbrella and water, as you'll be outside in the sun and heat. Our tour guide Mickey was an extremely knowledgeable historian who thoroughly explained the roots of the Nazi party and the party's affect on German daily life and society.
