Deze route geeft je de mogelijkheid om door Pitumarca te wandelen, de eerste toegang tot de Rainbow Mountain die tegenwoordig niet overvol is met toeristen, dit is op dit moment bijna een lege route die een meer persoonlijke ervaring zal geven. De Regenboogberg van Peru, ook bekend als Winicunca, is adembenemend en kan worden gezien in het spectaculaire Ausangate-gebied. Deze reis waarmee je de Rainbow Mountains kunt zien, vereist een trektocht van minimaal 6 dagen (3 uur heen en terug de berg op en af). Tijdens deze trektocht zie je schilderachtige dorpjes, prachtige huizen in adobe-stijl, kuddes lama's en alpaca's en heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de Ausangate-berg (6.385 m / 20.945 ft.), de hoogste berg in de regio Cusco.

Je dag begint om 03:40 uur en vertrekt vanuit je hotels in Cusco naar Quessiuno. Geniet van een ontbijt bij Quessiuno.
Na het ontbijt vervolgt u uw reis bergopwaarts gedurende 3 uur, waar u zult genieten van landschappen vol flora en fauna. Het duurt gemiddeld 3 tot 4 uur om bij de Rainbow Mountain te komen. Er zal voldoende tijd zijn om deze magische plek vast te leggen in foto's, herinneringen en te genieten van een adembenemend uitzicht op de berg en de heilige met sneeuw bedekte Ausangate. Nadat je hebt genoten van de tijd op de Rainbow Mountain, ga je bergafwaarts naar Quessiuno voor de lunch. Na deze ontspannen en welverdiende lunch keert u terug naar de stad Cusco. 19.00 uur is onze geschatte aankomsttijd op het Regocijo-plein in Cusco, dat een blok verwijderd is van het centrale plein.
Pitumarca is een klein stadje dat tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds lokale mensen met oude zeden heeft beoefend, ze gebruiken nog steeds typische hoeden en is ook een zeer belangrijke stad voor de Peruaanse onafhankelijkheidsdag. Dit is de stad die de eerste belangrijke opstand tegen het koloniale systeem maakte in het jaar 1789

Just one word: PHENOMENAL! This can be called the experience of a lifetime. I've lived an Indiana Jones experience and I'll take it forever. I always remembered the adventures of Indiana Jones throughout the day. They are 1.5 hours by car through roads on the edge of the mountains and hills, from those that you can see the precipice on the side. Going to the top, there is a very simple and precarious support base, obviously. Bathrooms like in the movies: minimalist, just with a cord to close the door holding the cord - ah, on the edge of the precipice. You choose to go on foot or to the last base of support on horses. I chose a horse, it was the best choice of my trip. On the way back, when we crossed with what was coming, a lot of people begged for the horse driver to come back to pick them up. Go on a horse, gain time and freedom in the final mountain attack. After the last base, also has precarious baths, you make the final attack to the side top of the mountain. The distance is not much, but at 5,000m altitude, there are 15 steps and rest for the folego. Snow to all sides, beautiful, you can play snowballs. The top is beautiful, beautiful view, beautiful mountain, all beautiful and an unmatched emotion for having achieved it. A lot of people fail and give up. But the emotion continues, because the descent is worse than the ascent. Remember the snow? Over the morning it melts and turns into a barrier. Tomb Festival. Poor girl all dressed in white with white griffe shoes that I saw climbing... For me it was the best walk I made in Cusco, winning Machu Picchu, although this one is mandatory. I went for Pacific Travel, great guide, a van only for our family of 4 people.
DO NOT BOOK if you have any fear of catching COVID-19. The only COVID-19 protocols they enforce are: 50% capacity (8 passengers in a van) and a temperature check done by the restaurant AFTER 2 hours in the van. Mask wearing was not enforced - in fact, the tour guide himself wore his under his chin the entire 14 hours, and even argued with the workers at Rainbow Mountain when they requested him to wear it normally. Four of the other passengers did not wear their masks for the entire 7 hours in the van. We also had issues with the air in the van - it did not work for the first 2 hours at all. When it did work, it was extremely weak. There was a TON of dust that entered from the dirt roads and made it hard to breathe at times. I’m not sure what caused this, but I assume it was poor seals. If you are worried about COVID-19, book a private tour or book with a different company. We watched the PeruHop guide (whose tour ran in parallel with ours) wearing his mask the entire time and really taking care of his guests. Ultimately, this comes down to the tour guide - but RainbowMountainCusco should set the company culture and standards that health and sanitation are of the utmost importance, especially in a pandemic. The tour itself was great - incredible hiking, great descriptions, good food, and everything ran on-time. Customer service is equally excellent - Hoger is very quick to respond and really takes what you say/ask into account. When we contacted him with our concerns, he called our tour guide to try and rectify the issues. Alas, nothing changed. Unfortunately, I still feel that I have to share my experience in regards to COVID-19 protocols. There are just no excuses to run a tour company this way. I cannot fathom risking getting sick just to do a day trip. I will update this review if I test positive in the next two weeks.

When we contacted him with our concerns" We always try to do the best for our customers, and of course we are on the way about that, unfortunatly the rainbow mountain is located over 5000 metters over the sea level, that means that a lot of people feels altitude sickness. even of that our guide has to push the customers to use the masks and if it is possible to go very slow on the hike using the masks all the time. We got some reports from the other customers and we specifically asked about the use of the masks, the sayd that they felt very exahusted over the 5000 metters over the sea level and that is why they did not use the masks in only a few situations (When they get off from the van for an instant and when they were taking the breakfast and lunch, the picture is from the endt of the lunch, just a few seconds finishing the lunch and taking the van to come back). About the van, the van new, 2019 model, the equipment is working at 100%, the reazon of dust is because of the road, is dusty road. finally, you took a shared tour, unfortunatly this time, there are some persons that comes with all the tests and they feel that follow the rules is not important, we decided to take this people out from our trips and do not provide them any more services. We were picked up on time at 2:30 at the hostel. Once at the hiking parking lot, we had to hike about 45 minutes to the mountain. Once at the destination everything was just fantastic. We had nice weather and were able to take some nice pictures. Afterwards we visited the red valley. After that we walked back to the car. That was a successful trip!

I’m not a regular hiker but when I heard 5000m I understood it wasn’t a joke. PLEASE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! I realised that many agencies organising the tours do not tell you how to prepare or what to take. Normally I would say: use your common sense, but after seeing 2 adults on our tour wearing outfits that were only lacking high heels, I’d say: stay at home! (The 2 adults ended up on horses after 10 min walking). Think of Comfortable hiking shoes, warm clothing (layers preferably), water, snacks (chocolate) and coca leaves (essential for me, helped me with my breathing high up where you take 2 steps and need to inhale deeply). If you don’t enjoy hiking (like my husband), you won’t enjoy this tour. I loved it although it was demanding because of the height. The views are breathtaking and so is the height. My husband only enjoyed going back down.
Dear: 663kasiak The rainbow mountain hike is a challenging hike, recomendae for people who really wants to conquer the hights!. We always recomend to get used to the altitude almos 48 hours, be prepared for all the weathers, is better to wear a jacket and if you do not need it, put it on the backpack. Also very recomendable to wear hiking shoes, We can say that thwe hiking shoes are mandatory. Hope to see you again on other oportunity. The tour takes a whole day, but it's worth it. Although it has a short walk, the altitude demands a lot to reach the top. The view is wonderful, and up there there are flames to take pictures, super cute. Super recommend.

We did a day tour to Rainbow mountain with Jose. We successfully reached the colored mountains after 2 tours of climb. Highly recommended tour!

Cusco’s journey is a bit long and you have to get up early, but we arrived on the site we absolutely do not regret! The ride starts rather quietly but after its hard climb! The landscapes are simply beautiful, the colors, the glacier, we do not know where to look! Arrived at the top, there are many people and it is a little cold but the 360 view is breathtaking. Just beautiful!! Note that it is possible for 2 soles to have his passport stamped. For our part, we made this excursion at the end of the stay to be acclimatized and we did not regret, the people who started with this had a hard time!
Absolutely beautiful! Stunning scenery even on the way up the mountain. If the weather is sunny, the colours are pretty much what you see in pictures. Yes, some people add filters in their pictures, but seeing this mountain with my own eyes was incredible and hiking up to the top was one of the most challenging things I've ever done and the satisfaction I had when I reached the top is something I'll never forget. The climb is super difficult even if you're acclimatized, just take your time. We used "rainbow mountain travels" because they arrive before the crowds and they also carry oxygen if needed. 100% recommend them. The guides were encouraging, informative, and experienced.
