Profiteer van een transferdag tijdens je verblijf in Baskenland om de hele Baskische kust te leren kennen door een lokale inwoner tijdens deze deur-tot-deur privétransfertour van Bilbao naar San Sebastian.

Op weg naar het oosten vanuit Bilbao, komen we aan in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, een locatie die wordt gebruikt voor het filmen van Game of Thrones seizoen 7, om het adembenemende uitzicht op dit oude eilandje aan de Golf van Biskaje te bewonderen vanaf het uitkijkpunt. Opmerking: we stoppen slechts een paar minuten voor fotomomenten; we zullen niet de wandeling naar de top van de kluis doen.
We gaan verder naar het oosten en bezoeken het dorp Gernika, het best bekend buiten de Baskische regio als de plaats waar een van de eerste luchtbombardementen tegen de burgerbevolking plaatsvond in 1937.
We steken de provincie Gipuzkoa over en gaan richting Zumaia om de spectaculaire kustlijn van de provincie Gipuzkoa en de beroemde Flysch te bewonderen, een andere locatie die wordt gebruikt voor het filmen van Game of Thrones seizoen 7. Vanaf hier maken we een korte wandeling langs de Flysch-route en bekijken we een van de meest adembenemende landschappen van de hele Baskische kust (ook een prachtige plek voor fotomomenten).
We vervolgen onze weg naar het oosten langs de kustweg en lopen uitgestrekte groene velden vol met Txakoli-wijngaarden met uitzicht op de zee en vangen een glimp op van onze volgende bestemming: de prachtige kustplaats Getaria, bekend als een belangrijke vissershaven, de thuisbasis van het museum van de beroemde modeontwerpster Cristobal Balenciaga, en de geboorteplaats van Juan Sebastian Elcano, de eerste man die de aarde omcirkelde. Geniet van een begeleide wandeling door het dorp en de beroemde haven, terwijl je leert over de geschiedenis, de traditionele Baskische vismethoden en belangrijke persoonlijkheden geboren in Getaria.
We komen aan in San Sebastian om je bij je accommodatie af te zetten en je vaarwel te zeggen. Dit is het einde van onze transferreis door de Baskische kust.

The highlight of our trip! Mikel was an incredible host and tailored the itinerary to incorporate my ancestral home town, Leketio. He was full of local insight and history, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and accommodated. We not only saw some smaller towns that we would have never otherwise seen (like the unique town of EA), but came upon and official visit with traditional dancers at the tree of Gernika and a group of kids practicing handball with their coach in Mutriku. Our guide Anders was fantastic and knowledgeable. We were able to easily see all the destinations as we relaxed and made our way from Bilboa to San Sebastian.... without the worry of finding parking.

An unqualified recommendation. Ander is among the very best guides you could ever hope for. He was born and raised in Basque Country (San Sebastian). He is very friendly, courteous, fun (yet extremely professional), articulate (speaks 5 languages fluently and articulately, including English), extremely knowledgeable of the area, history, culture, best sights, restaurants, bars (Pintxos), etc. We had last minute itinerary changes and he graciously accommodated our needs. My wife and I were very interested in the Basque history, culture and sights (I have distant ancestors from the Basque country) and he exceeded our highest hopes & expectations. He chauffeured us in a new Mercedes van which was very comfortable. We experienced our tour in every way: sights, sounds, food, culture, history... extraordinary for 1 day. I am certain there could not have been a better gentleman to guide us through our day in the Basque Country.
