Durf de prachtige Villa de Leyva te bezoeken, een charmante plek vanwege de koloniale architectuur. De reis wordt opgesierd door prachtige landschappen en historische plekken, je leert over gebruiken, typische gerechten en nog veel meer. Je bezoekt ook plaatsen zoals de Boyacá-brug, de plaats waar de strijd om onze onafhankelijkheid plaatsvond. In Villa de Leyva bezoekt u de Plaza Mayor, beroemd om zijn grootte en stenen vloer; musea, kerken, kloosters en bezienswaardigheden zoals de blauwe waterputten, hel, archeologisch en fossielenmuseum, wijngaarden, heilig eccehomo-klooster (u kunt 2 attracties kiezen. Casa Terracota is niet inbegrepen, dit is extra). Op de terugweg naar Bogotá passeren we de steden Sutamarchan en Ráquira, de laatste is een pittoreske plaats die over de hele wereld bekend staat om zijn lange traditie van keramisch werk. En tot slot komen we aan bij het startpunt in Bogotá en de plaats die je wilt.

Op deze magische plek komen architectuur en design samen, evenals andere kunst en ambachten. Vanuit zijn oorsprong en concept heeft de Colombiaanse architect en keramist Octavio Mendoza Morales geprobeerd een alternatieve en harmonieuze levensstijl te promoten voor zowel het individu als de gemeenschap, evenals de omgeving.
Het is gelegen in ek km 1,5 Vía Arcabuco in een huis gevormd als een juweel van koloniale architectuur gebouwd in 1570 als een molen, die momenteel stukken paleontologisch en cultureel erfgoed herbergt, van fossiele stukken uit het Krijt 130 miljoen jaar, heeft 2425 stukken in verzameling en 441 stukken tentoonstelling. Het heeft ook een verzameling van ongeveer 130 soorten uit verschillende typische ecosystemen van het land en een levende verzameling van inheemse soorten die worden gebruikt voor educatieve, onderzoeks- en instandhoudingsdoeleinden. Dit museum is verbonden aan de faculteit Bètawetenschappen van de Nationale Universiteit van Colombia.
Aan de oostkant van de Plaza Mayor van de prachtige villa bevindt zich de kerk van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van de Rozenkrans
Met 14.000 m2 is de Villa de Leyva een van de grootste pleinen in Amerika. In deze geplaveide ruimte vallen een waterfontein en de kerk van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van de Rozenkrans op. In de omgeving vinden bezoekers restaurants, hotels, musea en ambachtswinkels, onder andere gebouwen, die de koloniale architectuur die kenmerkend is voor deze gemeente respecteren.
Het klooster van Ecce Homo werd gesticht door de Dominicanen op 15 maart 1620, op Palmzondag, als een evangelisatiecentrum en rusthuis weg van stedelijke centra, waar de broeders van gevorderde leeftijd Religieuze architectuur volgde lange tijd de patronen die de Spanjaarden hadden vastgesteld. Het type kloosters dat in ons land wordt gevonden, reageert op de implementatie en herhaling van specifieke typen, met kleine variaties in de gebruikte materialen.
Slechts een paar kilometer van de Villa, op de weg die naar Santa Sofia leidt, vinden we de prachtige blauwe bronnen. Deze putten zijn kunstmatig en bevinden zich op privéland, De blauwe putten is een van de nieuwe attracties van Villa de Leyva, zijn charme is relatief en voor ons hangt het af van het weer. Als de lucht blauw is en helder, als het bewolkt is, is het niet zo interessant.

Het El Fósil Museum, gelegen in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, herbergt een van de best bewaarde fossielen van kronosaurussen ter wereld, 120 miljoen jaar oud. Naast dit indrukwekkende fossiel toont het museum een verzameling zeefossielen, die de rijke geologische geschiedenis van de regio belichten.

The trip was almost 14 hours but was worth it. We went midwek so there were no crowds and it was easy to navigate. Our guide Angel was accomodative as we switched betwen Spanish and English. He exhibited some serious F1 skills to get us back to Bogota at a reasonable hour. Only caution is to avoid the Choclate thing…a total toursit trap.

The trip to Villa de Leyva was amazing. I was especially delighted by the Eccehomo Monastery which is literally built with ancient sea fossils. So mysterious and thought provoking. My guide and driver were excellent. Luisa, the driver, had to drive for hours on mountain roads in the rain. She was careful, safe, efficient, friendly and had a great sense of humor. Milens, the guide, was enthusiastic and very friendly. She did a good job answering my unusual questions especially about the monastery which is literally built with ancient ammonite fossils. GoBogota is lucky to have these two young women as employees. I definitely recommend the trip especially with the two young ladies. And lunch was great too.

The visit lasted a total of 14 hours, with 2 people, Driver and Guide, totally at my disposal. During the tour, in addition to Villa de Leyva which is beautiful, we visited a number of other attractions in the area that are worth knowing and visiting. A day where it was possible to take many photos and really get into the local Colombian culture. Highly recommended!
