reis vervolgens naar kasteel Linderhof - nog een van de voormalige huizen van Ludwig. Linderhof, diep in het bos genesteld, was het kasteel waar de excentrieke koning het grootste deel van zijn tijd doorbracht. Stap binnen om de weelderige kamers te zien, zoals de Spiegelzaal en de Audiëntiekamer, en bezoek vervolgens de Venusgrot aan de buitenkant - een kunstmatige grot die naar verluidt is gemodelleerd naar Capri's Blue Grotto (op het moment dat de grot tot nader order gesloten is wegens onderhoudswerkzaamheden merk op).

This was an amazing tour from start to finish. Although this tour was a bit pricey, we booked it to simplify the logistics of scheduling, navigating public transportation, etc. This was especially important since we were traveling with a small group that included two 80-year-olds. We were picked up right outside our hotel, and the only thing we had to worry about all day was being ready for our pickup. Once we stepped into the comfortable, clean, and well-air-conditioned van, everything else was taken care of. What made this tour even better was our guide, Mattis. Not only did he give us fascinating information about the history of the castles we visited, but he also chatted with us about German culture, regulations, and what it was like to grow up and go to school right near the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. He was kind, helpful, and incredibly attentive to the needs and abilities of everyone in our group. In addition, he was an excellent driver, providing us with a smooth and comfortable ride while demonstrating courtesy to other pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists along the way. I have booked a lot of tours and experiences through Viator, and this was by far the best! The convenience, personalized service, and attention to detail definitely made up for the expense. Our day trip to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof was a wonderful experience for the teenagers to the grandmother in our party. Sandro, our guide, was exceptional - we learned so much about the history of the beautiful area - his enthusiasm, energy and organization made our tour easy and relaxing. We loved that he took photos of the four of us and his recommendations for restaurants were excellent. I've been on many tours in multiple countries and this was, bar none, the best tour company. I've had other tours where they sneak in extra fees. However, this tour guide ((Mattis) made sure I always knew what to do. He'd take me as close as he could - even to the actual ticket gate if possible for a visit. For Neuschwanstein thre is a part where he can't go, but he walked me through exactly what time to be at the inner gate with my ticket, and what to do, and things not to miss inside. I felt completely at ease. Another company, the guy left me off in the parking lot to figure it out myself! Beyond excellent service. It was the most stress-free experience I had on my dozens of tours. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED tour operator!

Lots of uphill walking and many steps in the castle. There is a horse drawn carriage ride for 8 euro to get you most of the way up the hill.
