Verscholen rond Cambridge vind je de beroemde Dinky Doors. Het zijn prachtige miniatuur sculpturen om te ontdekken, en het vinden ervan zorgt voor een leuke en compleet andere manier om de prachtige stad Cambridge te verkennen. De deuren zijn vooral geliefd bij kinderen, maar ook volwassenen kunnen hun humor en creativiteit waarderen. Ze prikkelen de verbeelding en maken mensen aan het lachen. Er zit zelfs een uitgebreid verhaal achter dat je kunt leren terwijl je op verkenning gaat. Er zijn momenteel 15 deuren om te ontdekken – elk uniek en ontworpen om u aan het denken en glimlachen te zetten. Het kopen van deze tour geeft u permanente toegang tot alle huidige en toekomstige deuren. De tour is op zichzelf staand dus je kunt in je eigen tempo gaan. Je hoeft niet alle deuren op dezelfde dag te bezoeken en je kunt ze in willekeurige volgorde ontdekken. Opmerking: Niemand zal u ontmoeten of vergezellen op uw tour - het is allemaal gedaan op uw telefoon. Elke deur heeft een video achtergrondverhaal, evenals dinky feiten en vragen en antwoorden om je uit te dagen.

Dus... je zou graag op zoek gaan naar alle mysterieuze Dinky Doors van Cambridge? Een zoektocht vol intriges, mysterie, plezier en eh… schattige kleine creatieve sculpturen? Nou, dat klinkt als een uitstekende beslissing. Er zijn (momenteel) 11 Dinky Doors te ontdekken en deze tour leidt je naar hun *TOP SECRET* locaties! De locaties die op Trip Advisor worden vermeld, zijn slechts bij benadering en geven niet hun exacte locaties weer. Omdat... nou, ze zijn *TOP SECRET* Er is geen voorgeschreven volgorde om ze te bezoeken. Hier in de buurt bezoek je Mr D. Mon bij onze Love from Above-deur.
Als je deze deur vindt, kun je misschien naar de overgebleven deuren teleporteren? Dat zou je wat tijd moeten besparen. Breng gewoon voldoende 3p-munten mee.
Er lijkt iets achter deze volgende deur te zitten die probeert weg te komen... zou het onze glorieuze leider kunnen zijn?
Een heerlijke plek om de staat van de werkelijkheid te checken met een deur die eh... de staat van de werkelijkheid controleert.

Een prachtig park, en onze deur hier vlakbij geeft je snel toegang tot twee andere parken, door de magie van magische draaiende portalen. Geweldig.
De Cam is een prachtige rivier om langs te dwalen, en ergens langs hier ontdek je misschien 's werelds enige, en misschien laatste, manier om je brieven en pakjes om te zetten in e-mails...
Bereid je voor, want misschien vind je hier in de buurt het toneel van een vreselijke buitenaardse crash. Maar waar is de overlevende gebleven? En wie zijn zij?
Je bent een octopus en je wilt jezelf trakteren? Waar moet je heen? Ergens in de omgeving is een luxe resort gebouwd speciaal voor onze octopusvrienden.
De mysterieuze locatie van een vreselijke misdaad die Cambridge tot in de kern schokte. Wat was er vroeger en wat is er nu nog?
Niet direct in Cambridge, dus een optioneel bezoek met auto, fiets of bus. In dit mooie en oude park ligt een boek over een legendarische ongeslagen ridder. Misschien kun je een afspraak met ze maken?
Een lift naar de ruimte nodig? Misschien heb je gewoon geluk...
Je denkt toch niet dat boeken 'geschreven' zijn door 'auteurs'? Nee, ontdek hoe boeken echt tot stand komen en maak misschien kennis met een Bookmage...

I found searching for the doors a fun way to wander the city and take in its sites along the way! I found it whimsical and joyful to see their existence be passed and unnoticed by so many people, knowing I had been one of those people just the day before! Each door is such a treasure; so creative and well crafted! I wish more cities had this!
Or was fun living in a dinky world for an morning. We learnt lots and stepped through the doors to the other side. It was crazy time. We would definitely do it all again..
Was a great way to explore the city. Definitely leans towards younger children but my 10 year old still enjoyed navigating on the map. The doors were works of art!
Nice idea but interactive mapping terrible. We gave up after finding 2 doors.

This was a fun way to see Cambridge and the little doors were really creative. The £8.50 app was good value but I have to say the 'interactive map' was frustrating and difficult to use. But we persevered and saw all but two of the doors - when we couldn't work out the map the locals were really helpful and knew exactly where they were and were enthusiastic about is being on the trail. This is a great way to spend a day in Cambridge and I fully recommend.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and sorry you had a frustrating experience. The map provider had made an update that prevented some of the Dinky Doors trail functionality. We updated our tours since then, and hopefully, you wouldn't have to rely on the locals so much now, although I'm very grateful they helped :)
It was a good experience and amazed to find them in places where I've walked past many times but never noticed they were there. Using the map on a phone wasn't always great as sometimes it was a bit glitchy to load and had to start again but it may have been because of the lack of mobile reception when walking around the centre of the city? All in all an enjoyable afternoon experience with friends but we only ticked off nine doors so plenty more to see! The University bookshop had strategically placed the Dinky Doors book in the window above the Dinky Door so that gave us an excuse to go in to take a look...
Thank you for sharing your experience: we're glad you enjoyed the doors overall and that you discovered things you'd never noticed before. It's true that the mobile reception in the centre of town can be lacking sometimes. Whilst we can't do much about it we'll try to make the app a bit more resilient to it.
Fun activity to do with little ones around Cambridge. Some of them are further out and need a car.

It would be great but not on a mobile phone. The map just isn’t clear enough, it was almost impossible to tell how far apart they were. One of them was nowhere near the centre of Cambridge. By the time we had walked there, we had become quite discouraged, it wasn’t one of the best ones. We found a second one by accident as I realised we were in Downing Street. Trying to find the third one proved impossible and all two far apart so gave up. It was so cheap to buy I wasn’t bothered about missing out. I will definitely order the physical package to see if it’s any clearer. I would have preferred a physical route to follow as on a mobile they all looked close and walkable round, in reality, that’s definitely not the case.
I'm so sorry you struggled with the mobile map to the point you had to cut your tour short, and thank you for checking the physical package. It's a bit of a game in itself: you'll have a real map of Cambridge and cards with exact locations of the doors, for you to plot your route. You can order it online, or get it in a couple of shops in Cambridge. If you do use it, we'd love to hear your feedback again.
I loved the idea of it and thought it would be a good way to explore Cambridge. We did 4 and then gave up. Overall, the digial map wasnt tge easiest to navigate and the write up for each point part real, part fantasy. It just didnt make a lot of sense. Would i do it again with young children? Maybe. Overall, not the experience Id hoped for.
Oh no! sorry to hear you didn't have the experience we hoped to give you. It's true that there is real fantasy in each door... Perhaps we can blame the Supreme leader who gave us the instructions to build them? I definitively hear that kids don't mind fantasy too much, though.
