Betreed King’s College! Opgericht door koning Hendrik VI, met opeenvolgende koningen die ambitieuzere toevoegingen leverden (vandaar de naam). De kapel heeft het grootste gewelfde plafond ter wereld en zelfs een Rubens, ooit het duurste schilderij ooit aangekocht. Het is gemakkelijk te zien waarom talloze koningen en koninginnen op bezoek zijn geweest, en waarom uw bezoek niet compleet kan zijn zonder binnen te komen! Deze tour laat je kennismaken met de cruciale rol van Cambridge in de wereldgeschiedenis en belicht de architectonische wonderen van de stad, met onze universiteitsgidsen. Bovendien komt de tour King’s College binnen! De oudste kerk van Cambridge (1033), het oudste College (1284) en het laboratorium dat beroemd is om de ontdekking van DNA komen aan bod. Samen met Cambridge bezienswaardigheden zoals de Mathematical Bridge en het Senaatshuis waar de afgelopen 300 jaar is afgestudeerd. Daarnaast zullen onze studentengidsen hun ervaringen met het collegesysteem delen en je laten kennismaken met lokale geheimen.

Het hoogtepunt van je tour zal zonder twijfel de prachtige King's College Chapel zijn. De eerste steen werd gelegd door koning Henry VI zelf, en opeenvolgende Engelse koningen die steeds ambitieuzere toevoegingen leverden (vandaar de naam!). De kapel is de thuisbasis van het grootste gewelfde plafondventilator ter wereld, het is versierd met majestueuze glas-in-loodramen en er is zelfs een schilderij van Rubens (ooit het duurste schilderij ooit gekocht).
Peterhouse was het eerste college van de universiteit, gefinancierd in 1284. De groep zal buiten stoppen waar je de prachtige universiteitskapel kunt bewonderen en meer kunt leren over beroemde studenten zoals de dichter Thomas Gray.
De tour stopt buiten Pembroke College - het derde oudste College in Cambridge - waar onze deskundige studentengids je vertelt over de geschiedenis, inclusief details over de College's Chapel, die is ontworpen door Sir Christopher Wren. Hoewel de toegang gratis is, laat het College geen groepen toe die groter zijn dan 6, daarom raden we je aan om hier na de tour terug te keren met al het historische inzicht in gedachten.
Eerst zullen we een kijkje nemen in het Grote Hof van Corpus, daarna zal onze studentengids je vertellen over de geschiedenis van dit beroemde college.
De Mathematical Bridge is een van de meest erkende bruggen in Cambridge en heeft een nogal vreemd oorsprongsverhaal. Onze studentengids vertelt je de populaire legende en verduidelijkt vervolgens wat de werkelijke oorsprong van de brug was.
De groep stopt bij de ingang van Clare College op de 'Backs' - de lokale naam van het pad achter de centrale hogescholen - waar je meer te weten komt over de geschiedenis. Bovendien zal onze gids bij deze halte de universiteitsbibliotheek aan de overkant markeren.
Deze brug biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de rivier de Cam. Aan de rechterkant ziet u de brug van Clare College, de oudste brug van Cambridge. Rechtdoor is er de prachtige Jerwood-bibliotheek van Trinity Hall, die werd ontworpen om eruit te zien als een schip! Het is een must fotostop!
Buiten het Senaatshuis zal onze studentengids je alle bijzonderheden vertellen over de diploma-uitreiking in Cambridge, die de afgelopen 300 jaar in Senaatshuis zijn gehouden.
De beroemde buur en rivaal van Trinity College. Hier leert u over zijn reputatie en over het speciale voorrecht dat de fellows van het College delen met de Koninklijke Familie.
De tour eindigt door Trinity College waar je meer leert over beroemde alumni zoals Sir Isaac Newton en Prince Charles. Je ziet 'de appelboom' en hoort het komisch ongelooflijke verhaal achter het standbeeld van Henry VIII boven de poort.

Our tour guide Rita was welcoming. She ensured that everyone who had booked was present before setting off. There was a small group of participants, smaller than I had anticipated, which made it easier for the group to stay together. Rita had a detailed knowledge of the places we visited, including some quirky facts which were fun to learn. This was the free tour, with the ability to give tips at the end. I wished I had more to give as Rita definitely deserved it. The walked lasted just under two hours and was a good experience. I would highly recommend it. The only slightly confusing part was that the initial meeting point didn't look the same as the photo sent by Footprints as the shop fronts have changed since it was taken, so we needed to ask someone which lamppost we should be standing beside.
Mark was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining.. He kinda customised his storyline based on where the tourist came from making it very relatable.. I wish him all the best
Highly informative tour from Hermione. She is highly knowledgeable and it's great to get an alumni perspective. It was a nice smaller group also which made walking around less overwhelming. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody visiting Cambridge.
Fantastic, informative and fun tour led by Mark. He was great with historical facts and visual prompts. Mark rembered everyone's name and country of origin (8 of us). We throughly enjoyed the whole and extended tour.....thank you
The meeting point was extremely busy with several other tours being in the same vicinity. Thanks to a phone call we realised we were only 10M from Rachel our tour guide with this tour, thanks for the call, was very good service. Rachel was excellent, very informative, great sense of humour & personable. The other tours had large groups of people but we were a small group of 6 which made for great conversation & sharing information. The many questions that were asked, Rachel provided lots of detail & great history of Cambridge. It was a really good tour. The Kings college chapel is a must visit at the end of tour if you haven't been before. We wish Rachel all the best in your studies to becoming a vet.

The experience started with a morning message on my WhatsApp from the Guide Mark Shere welcoming me to the upcoming tour and explaining how to spot him when I reach the location. When I got there, Mark welcomed me warmly and introduced me to the other family of 3 we were going to go on the tour with. This instantly made me feel comfortable. Mark is a people’s person, and has the personality of an entertainer who uses humour to add to his vast repertoire of knowledge of world history (not surprising given his degree in History from Cambridge). Mark then proceeded to take us on a tour full of information and interesting tidbits about Cambridge. From the King’s College chapel, the Rose Wars and the various British kings and their relationship with Cambridge University - he made every aspect of the tour come alive. He made the tour relevant for all 4 of us on tour which included a young 18 year old, her parents from Germany and me an Indian with an emotional connect to Cambridge (since I got admission here but could not attend due to financial issues). Mark took us to see the College I wishes to see and I am very thankful for that. How the 2.5 hours passed, I never realised and in the end I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour. If I go there again, I would happily do the tour again with Mark! Highly recommended for everyone visiting Cambridge. Look for Mark and book a tour with him!

Our guide Theo, himself a history graduate from Cambridge was first class. He had a lovely engaging manner, was very polite, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. His commentary throughout the 2 hour walk was extremely well structured, flowed seamlessly and was incredibly informative. We saw and learnt things in those 2 hours that we never could have walking by ourselves or with a guidebook. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Theo and this tour!
Mark walked us through Cambridge on a scorching hot day during the heat wave. This didn't stop him from giving us as many details as possible on the UK school system, Cambridge history and walk us to the highlights; all with that iconic dry Bristish humour! It was a joy and we learned so much! I recommend Mark to anyone who loves to be intellectually challenged like Mark would put it! It was a great day trip thanks to him!
