Tijdens dit dagvullende avontuur kun je genieten van zowel de prachtige panoramische uitzichten die Salvador biedt, als de rijke geschiedenis, buitengewone architectuur en dynamische cultuur ontdekken, het resultaat van de mix van Portugese, Afrikaanse en inheemse volkeren. We zullen de stad vanuit verschillende hoeken bekijken, de benedenstad ontdekken, met zijn landelijke binnenatmosfeer, rond de kalme wateren van de All Saints Bay, en verder gaan naar het puntje van het Itapagipe-schiereiland, het uiterste westelijke deel van Salvador, en dan de Bovenstad met zijn historische centrum – de bakermat van de geschiedenis van onze stad.

Onze reis begint bij de Farol da Barra, waar we zullen genieten van het spectaculaire uitzicht op de Atlantische Oceaan en de ingang van de baai.
We gaan dan naar Dique do Tororó, waar we de beroemde sculpturen van de Orixás - Afrikaanse Dieties van de kunstenaar Tati Moreno zullen waarderen, die de Afrikaanse invloed in het dagelijks leven van Bahians weerspiegelen, en we zullen het voetbalstadion, Arena Fonte zien nov.
Terwijl we naar beneden gaan naar de Benedenstad, rijden we door het oude financiële centrum van Salvador en de haven van Salvador in de richting van de wijk Ribeira.
We krijgen de kans om te stoppen bij de meest traditionele ijssalon van de stad, Sorveteria da Ribeira, waar we de kans krijgen om te genieten van enkele van de meer dan 70 beschikbare smaken, waarvan er vele zijn gemaakt met de typische vruchten van de regio.
Vervolgens komen we aan bij de Bonfim-kerk, een van de beroemdste kerken in heel Brazilië en een geweldige weergave van het religieuze syncretisme dat zo aanwezig is in onze cultuur, waar we de traditionele gekleurde linten kunnen binden en alle heiligen om hun bescherming kunnen vragen . Bewogen door geloof, lopen de mensen van Bahia jaarlijks 8 km (5 mijl) op het traditionele Bonfim-festival.
Onderweg gaan we naar Ponta de Humaitá en maken een stop bij het Mont Serrat Fort, waar we zullen genieten van een adembenemend panoramisch uitzicht over Salvador.
We zullen dan de top van de bovenstad bereiken, waar de Portugezen de eerste hoofdstad van Brazilië bouwden, vergelijkbaar met een acropolis. Vanaf het stadsplein zien we het Rio Branco-paleis, de gemeenteraad en de iconische Lacerda-lift, vanwaar we kunnen genieten van een prachtig uitzicht over de baai met zijn eilanden, het oude financiële district en Mercado Modelo, een ambachtelijke markt.
WE zullen het Sé-plein passeren, waar de eerste kathedraal van Brazilië werd gebouwd en we kunnen nog steeds de ruïnes ervan zien.
Het Terreiro de Jesus-plein, de thuisbasis van de voormalige jezuïetenschool en kerk, werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd. Tegenwoordig is het de nieuwe basiliekkathedraal. Op dit punt voorzien we vrije tijd voor de lunch.
Na de lunch bezoeken we een van de mooiste kathedralen van Brazilië. De basiliekkathedraal van Salvador is de moeder van alle Braziliaanse katholieke kerken en herbergt een van de belangrijkste collecties Braziliaanse heilige kunst.
Het Sint Franciscusplein ligt in het hart van de oude stad, waar we bars, restaurants en handwerkwinkels vinden. Maar het herkenningspunt hier is echt 's werelds beroemde Sint Franciscus van Assisi-kerk, een echt barok juweeltje (bezoek). Kaartje niet inbegrepen.
Dit is een van de mooiste pleinen van Salvador, waar de Jorge Amado Foundation en de kerk van de Rozenkrans van de Zwarte Mannen zijn gevestigd.

Mijn auto is een zwarte Toyota Corolla XEI 2023. Voor grotere groepen kan ik een comfortabele bus regelen als vervoer. Ik kan reizigers ophalen bij het hotel, in de oude stad of bij de cruiseterminal. Voor hotels buiten het hierboven aangegeven gebied reken ik een vergoeding voor het ophalen en afzetten bij het hotel.

Carlos led us on a fabulous trip around Salvador introducing us to the history and culture of his amazing city. His winsome enthusiasm for his city was contagious! He was kind and thoughtful with sharing umbrellas on our rainy day. He showed us all the highlights and found the perfect lunch spot for us to enjoy delicious Bahian cuisine! Carlos was an incredible guide! He is so knowledgeable about Salvador and the history, architecture, and culture of the city. The tour is fantastic - we really learned a lot and got to see so many special places and enjoy some incredible food. Carlos took us on a great tour of Salvador. We booked directly (always our preferred option). Having don’t the previous day blindly wandering around it was so much better to have a structured day with a guide to explain everything to us. You really gain a lot from this. We started in the Barra district (where I am writing this review from on the beach☀️) and during the day traversed both the lower and upper city, we had a great time and Carlos was the perfect guide. He was easy to talk with and clearly very knowledgeable about Salvador. We would recommend the tour to anyone.

Carlos was wonderful! So knowledgeable. He modified the itinerary based on our interests. We saw so much in 6 hours. When it started to rain he went back to his car and got umbrellas for us. He picked a great place for lunch and got us back to the ship in plenty of time.
