Verken Madeira's traditionele rieten sleeën met sleeën tijdens deze tuk-tuk-rit. De rit met de express-tuk-tuk met manden begint in de stad Funchal en eindigt bij de "Carreiros do Monte". Beginnend bij de oude stad, waar het project van de "geschilderde deuren" wordt weergegeven en klaar om ontdekt en gezien te worden. Dit project wordt getoond in de straten van Santa Maria, waar talloze deuren zijn beschilderd door verschillende kunstenaars, waardoor deze straat een broodnodige gloed krijgt. Dit gebied staat ook bekend om zijn geweldige Poncha-drank, een lokaal drankje gemaakt van rum, citroen en honing. Rua de Santa Maria is een van de oudste straten van de stad Funchal, vol met pittoreske details, zoals de geplaveide vloeren en de gevels van de oude huizen. Daarna gaat de reis verder richting Monte, waarbij de belangrijkste attractie, de kerk van Monte, wordt onthuld. De tuk-tukrit Carreiros do Monte - Toboggan Express begint zijn reis in de stad Funchal, richting de oude stad waar onze gasten de kleine en gezellige steegjes kunnen zien waar de lokale bevolking en toeristen dag en nacht wandelen. Na een reis van 30 minuten door de straten van Funchal, kom je aan bij onze bestemming.
Ondanks de mooie, goed bewaard gebleven façade, werd deze kerk gebouwd in de 18e eeuw en heeft architectonische kenmerken die dateren uit de 18e en 19e eeuw.
Rodelen was een traditionele mandenslee die als vervoermiddel diende door de lokale bewoners die snel van het dorp Monte naar de stad Funchal wilden reizen.

We had an incredible private tuk tuk tour with Wacef and couldn't have asked for a better experience! One of the highlights was arriving at the famous Monte toboggans just as they opened. Thanks to Wacef's excellent timing, there was barely a line, and we were among the very first riders of the day. It was such a fun and memorable experience. What really set this tour apart was Wacef's flexibility and enthusiasm. He offered us the opportunity to extend the tour for a very fair fee, and we're so glad we did. We visited Cristiano Ronaldo's childhood home, took in breathtaking views from an incredible lookout point, and explored a fascinating cave that we never would have discovered on our own. Throughout the tour, Wacef was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing Madeira's hidden gems. We never felt rushed and appreciated how personalized the experience was. Excellent choice for an excursion from the cruise terminal. Since we were there on a Sunday, the toboggans were closed so keep that in mind. Our guide for the day was Gui and he was awesome. Picked us up right at the cruise terminal and took us to many scenic overlooks. Next we went to the Christ statue. Gui was great giving us the history of the island and of the statue. From the statue we headed to Fishermen’s Village. Gui recommended we try the original Poncha at this nice little pub in the village. If you’re a soccer fan, this pub has many signed jerseys from the local soccer legend Ronaldo. His family is still on the island. Anyway, we can’t recommend Tukway and Madeira Tuk Tuk enough. The customer service and knowledge of the island are top notch. We will definitely use them again!

This tour was amazing . I would certainly do it again . The tuk tuk guide Henrique Jesus was a super guide of the island with plenty of knowledge. They showed up in time and offered an earlier time which suited us better. The guides stood in the queue with us to help us secure our tabagon space while we paid also . Saving more time ! Amazing
Gil was wonderful! I received a text message when he arrived and we were off. Early on a Saturday morning was great... not much traffic and we felt like we were part of the city. Riding up the mountain on that beautiful day to get to the toboggan ride in Monte was worth getting up early! We were the first in line! This was my reason for visiting Madeira and it was so worth it! Gil met us at the bottom of the ride and we took off for Funchal old town. Seeing many painted doors and ending up at the church on the harbor. Loved every minute of this tour!
